Haynes debut gives Davis hope

173661494_3016530.jpg?20131009144958Steve Davis believes Danny Haynes can make a positive impact at Crewe after a promising debut in Saturday's loss to Sheffield United.

The on-loan Notts County forward was introduced off the bench in the 65th minute and caught the eye with his pace as Alex chased an equaliser.

"Danny showed some pace and directness in his play and he can take a chance in and around the opposition penalty area," Davis told the club website. "We saw glimpses of that potential on Saturday."

Davis has also backed defender George Ray to learn from his late red card versus the Blades, with the 21-year-old being dismissed after protesting to the referee.

"George let the frustration of the situation get the better of him because he felt he was fouled," added Davis.

"I don't know if it was for the reaction or because he put a hand on him but either way he knows he shouldn't be doing that. That is not in our style.

"He let it get the better of him and that is not the first time we have seen that side from George. He is working hard on that part of his game and this will be a learning curve for him."

Does striker Danny Haynes have a future at Notts? Could him leaving allow us to put his wages to good use? Thoughts on the article?

I love him to find his form and come back to bang in lots of goals but somehow I can't see it happening, maybe it's time for him to move on and we can utilise the saving of his wages for other players.

I don't feel he's been given a chance this season, only been played on the wings and hardly had any game time since he came back from injury. If he does well at Crewe then I think he'll get another chance, if not I could see him being shipped out as soon as. I think he's a decent player if he puts his mind to it

Do you really think he will get a chance Lewis?

I see the club using it to wash their hands personally. We have shipped out many big earners, for me I dont think we can ever justify a striker who does not score or play much at all being on £4,000 a month in salary.

If he does do well, comes back and does well. I do not see it lastly, he looks past his best.

Derry must be realistic with regards to danny haynes.

He is not going to offer us anything that we dont already have and we seem to have gambled enough on him. If he took the chances hes had, we might be discussing a different story. I would like to see the wages better spent, he does not suit our style of play and he will want to start more.

I think if he scores a few at Crewe he will, seeing as Cassidy is injured, but that is a big if to be fair. I think you're right though it is difficult to justify paying his wages, so if he's not gonna get his chance at least it puts him in the shop window being at Crewe

With Cassidy & Spencer out I think it sums up Haynes's prospects that we've palmed him off elsewhere.

I simply don't understand why anyone would have any faith him at all. He's had an indifferent to poor career, scores few goals and apart from a purple patch as a youngster at Ipswich and a little spell at Charlton he's been pretty ineffective & inconsistent throughout his career.

The talent might be there but the application is lacking and the delivery seldom meets expectations.

If he returns and excels I'd be amazed - could happen but I doubt it. If it does, I'll be pleasantly surprised.
