Hopes for next season

So, what would you hope for from next season? With their being talks of a 'competitive' budget, how would you like to see this spent? What can we learn from this season currently being played out?

I wanted to start this now, as I think it will give a good reflection when the times nearer.

I am actually very optimistic about next season, I want Derry to be here and steadying the ship. I hope to see us improve, better attacking football - mixed with real excitement going into games. I'd love for us to fancy going into the games like Peterborough, MK Dons, Swindon, Bristol City thinking we can get something out of the game. Basically not to be under the cosh for 75 or whatever minutes.

It sounds negative to say the above but I do see that we have progressed but I actually want to see us being 'really' competitive and believing in ourselves - it will go along way.

Personally I have my doubts and concerns about next years budget, however I hope we can get a mix of experience. It would be nice to see players arriving within the right age range, not so many above 30 and not to many below 21. It would be nice to sign some between 23-27 for a change! Especially if we can inject some real pace into our squad but of course the skill, reading of the game goes along way and so I wouldn't thrown upon more senior heads.

I hope we spend more wisely, avoid rushing into loans (as it seems) and put it to use to keeping quality within the ranks. This will hopefully allow us to keep a fairly small and tight squad, no more than 25 players is my personal wish.

We can learn a lot about this season and we still are, what about you?

Don't just read folks, share your thoughts and join in.

I basically agree. Some of my wishes:

- Obviously it's got to be in League One.

- A season in the top half flirting with the play-offs would be good.

- A good cup run including a win over our near neighbours.

- More creativity, a team able to control and dominate matches: I get sick of listening to us under the kosh every single week.

- Black shorts and white socks next season please. We never do well with white shorts. Oh, and I'd like to see us in the black and white away from home too!

The willingness to play attacking football is the biggest for me. That and a settled 11 who work together. We had that at the beginning of this season and look where it took us.

I agree on the age of players too. Too much of a risk imo signing all promising youngsters or on the way down older players. E.g. Jones worked well (even though now I would leave him out in favour of Curtis and Noble) Smith...playing wise not a good idea and the if what he has brought in on the coaching side is being shown on the pitch now then that's poor too.

Roy Carroll in for another season. Sepsis out on loan at a league club for an extended period. Spencer fit to compete with BB if he stays. A quick front man to benefit from the tall man.

Wingers!!!

No offence Haydn, but a new central pairing in defence. Both Haydns replaced.

Not a lot really!!!

I agree that there needs to be a greater emphasise on getting away from could be's, should be's and has beens. I do think we have a basis of a decent team and I am hoping their development will continue to be clear to see. I don't think Hollis is a bad player, I just think he is stumbling through some bad form and because he cares it is more evident to us, the spectators. It would be nice to see the team play football and compete with pace and passion to the extent that opponents fear playing us and not expect to get anything out the game. Obviously I want to stay in league one and I would love the club to work closely with Juve' and be in a position to help develop their players for the benefit of both teams, perhaps exchanges in the loan market.

I in short I want to go to a game and expect to be there or there a outs unlike now when I am hoping we compete without folding...

COYP's now, then & always.

I hope we don't get involved in anymore end of season relegation battles, although they can be exciting when your team survives last day of the season haha!! To stop signing players that don't feature eg Wroe (I have no idea why he's not in favour?!). Yes we need some experienced players but not the type that are seeing out their professional career half heartedly and just here for the money.

I would love to see the managerial team succeed but would like a settled team and to play more attacking football especially at home. Oh and I definitely agree white shorts are not a good choice :)

- Playing league one (or above)

- Derry and Abbot to be still at the helm

- Playing a more attacking formation

- Signing more permanent players

- Getting bigger more vocal crowds

- A cup run would be nice, drawing a big team and bringing some finance in

I'd like to see the reserve side return in a competitive league.I know there were issues regarding cost but believe regular playing time is a must for all players.

I hope SD and GA have learnt a lot from this season.

I hope they are already looking ahead to next season and build on what thay have done this season with permanent signings

I'd like to visit this site and read that Notts have won or at least competed playing attractive, attacking football.

Get everything right and the attendances will improve.

Best time to start thinking about next season, will we even be in this league next year?

I hope this question is one to be answered within time but what I watched yesterday, it was worse than last season because we wasted changes we would have scored then. We are desperately lacking reassurance from the better players but we don't have the quality of the likes of Sheehan, Liddle and others.
