The 2009-10 season saw the Devon team retain Judge's services, and the rising star played 37 games, scoring five.

Towards the end of the season, then Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce told the youngster he was surplus to requirements at the club, meaning he had to move again.

On the 31st of August 2010, Alan Judge's spell at Notts County began, first joining on loan, then signing outright.

For three years, the talented Irishman delighted Magpies fans with his impressive skills and his knack for scoring important and impressive goals, and soon had all clubs in the Football League talking.

Judge's decision not to renew his contract is understandable, bearing in mind Notts County failed to win promotion and couldn't satiate the player's desire to grace the higher echelons of the league pyramid. Given Blackburn's recent troubles at the foot of the Championship, his decision to return to the Lancashire club in order to help them regain their rightful place in the top tier is noble and should be lauded.

Thank you for three wonderful years in the black and white stripes, Alan Judge, and best of luck with your childhood club!

(Oh, and if you could bang a couple past the red neighbours when you play them next season, it would be much appreciated!)

After an astonishing end to the previous season, all the signs pointed towards Keith Curle developing Notts into strong play-off contenders, perhaps even more. But just as quickly as the leafs fell from the trees, Notts sleepwalked into an abyss. The confident squad, filled with match winners such as Zoko, Judge, Liddle and Leacock turned into draw specialists. Notts managed only one win, a surprise 1-0 victory against Swindon, in an eleven match streak which saw the month of December go by without a single victory. Thrown into the mix was a thorough drumming by Rotherham in the FA Cup.

We sit here now with the season over and summer on the horizon. Fans get ready for a month without the worry of the next home match or whether they will have to endure one of the woeful sausage rolls in the Kop. Unlike most normal seasons however, something does not feel quite finished yet at Notts. Normally we would talk about new signings towards mid-June and the list of those released would normally be about as surprising as the mud laden state of our pitch. This time however, the war drum is being thoroughly beaten by Chairman Trew. Reports of a slash in our budget of 30-40% strike a distinct fear into the hearts of those who want to see Notts sign proven goal scorers and recognisable, quality names in midfield. Whilst fans understand that cuts need to be made in order to comply with the new Financial Football League legislation and to secure the long-term future of our club, one cannot lose the initiative on progression.

Who couldn’t be happier to see Romello Nangle and Tyrell Waite grab a goal each in our final two matches of the season? Curtis Thompson and Haydn Hollis look sure to feature heavily in the Black and White stripes and no one would deny that bringing through the youth is a great strategy and investment. But one mustn’t lose touch with reality. The quality of League One this season has been bitterly poor; many fans saw this as a very big opportunity missed. Next season, larger clubs will be entering through the Championship trap door and strong teams from League Two will also be gracing our League. The idea that League One will be anything but stronger next year is totally incomprehensible. But why is this important?

This is important because if speculation is to be believed, Judge is as good as gone. Bishop, Zoko, Arquin, Showumni, Bencherif all look to be shown the door and even Jeff Hughes could potentially be on his way out. It is hard to see how our budget can be slashed by 40% without nearly all of these players leaving. Even the likes of Campbell-Ryce could be heading on the next train out of Nottingham should finances not permit an extension of his stay. If the majority of these players were to leave, it would be naïve to believe we could replace them with matching quality on significantly less money.

So with some of our best talent on the way out, the introduction of more youth players and a far stronger League on the horizon next season, can Notts realistically aim for anything higher than where we lay now in 12th? The answer is no.

No fan wants to see their team turned into mid-table fodder, it is not in Notts County’s nature to be in 12th spot. It doesn’t feel right not being on the edge of our seats right until the last game of the season either trying to avoid relegation or seal promotion. So what are we looking for as a club over the summer and into the new season?

The answer to this question will vary widely from those who want to see money invested from the top down to buy in the talent for promotion compared with those who are happy to wait for bottom up results from the youth. Next season will be decided in the months June to August. Chairman Trew cannot rely solely on more youth to create a squad with top 12 credentials next season, nor can he allow the likes of Hughes or Liddle to leave and not expect us to slip down the table. The obvious gamble being taken may result in dwindling attendances and the need for even more cutbacks should the youth fail to bring in attractive, goal scoring football and most importantly, wins. Conversely, we can neither expect more investment from the top, something Trew has ruled out more times than a monorail.

So with all things considered, our conclusions on next season’s predicament are not the exciting and plentiful paths to glory as we may hope. The first phase is likely to see Rodwell filling out P45’s with a large proportion of our squad on the way out. Rodwell’s pen will be out again in drawing up numerous contracts for new youth players set to turn pro. Along with the exit of current players and the restocking of the shelves with young pro’s, Kiwomya will come into his own as he searches for players to complement the youth. His first target must surely be a striker, or three. Notts’ tragic failure to score has undermined what is largely unnoticed as one of our best defences in years. Sheehan, Liddle, Leacock and Kelly with Bart in behind has surely got to be one of the strongest back fives in the League.

If Kiwomya can galvanise this defence, bring in some reliable and committed players with proven records at a similar level to our current position, progress is very realistic. Trew’s vision of a home-grown player fully establishing himself as a first team pro will take time, equally time worth waiting for. If Kiwomya can find the balance between the long term youth vision and next season’s viability as a competitive and prosperous team, then we really could be in for better times. If he misjudges this though, it could be quite catastrophic.

For all that has been said, let’s enjoy the very weeks that our blood pressure doesn’t sky rocket and hope that a sensible and cohesive plan is in place to bring the best out of our club. You Pies.

By James Constantine

On Monday the 15th September 1986, 1,500 supporters packed into the Astoria Ballroom while more fans were locked outside gathered to hear about the financial difficulties the club had found themselves in. The clubs future was threatened with the financial crisis, as then Chairman Jack Dunnett was the only financial support and the club desperately needed to clear debts of over £1.8 Million. It was a direct result of the fans, players and board members support that the Lifeline scheme came into existence with John Mounteney quickly reaching 2,500 members.

Lifeline could only be possible with the dedication of any steward, with the fans making sure just how important it is to have something to aid the clubs coffers especially times become hard financially.

Notts County has long been established as a family club. The presence of staff members, even to this modern day, and the board make our club feel much different to any other.

Lynn Lawson has been administrating Lifeline since 2001, which in 2003 would have played a vital part in saving our club as we once again found ourselves on the brink of administration quite similar to when the scheme was originally started.

At the fans forum on Wednesday 3rd April, the entry and all proceedings went to Lifeline. £250 was also donated to the British Heart Foundation in memory of Joy Sharpe who had sadly passed away.On Friday the 12th, I met up with Jurgen who kindly offered me to attend the fans sponsor dinner. Inside the club shop 'Lifeline' was being discussed, I am not a member but I have always been interested. Lynn and Jurgen spoke about it and you could see how much it meant to Lynn and with the right person behind such worthy scheme it can only go forward. I'm going to join, I hope those who aren't members that read this consider it also.

Inside our community 'TonyHateley' started a discussion about Lifeline, he had asked if anyone was also a member. He kindly allowed time to answer some questions, along with Kirk Ward (a budding photographer).

Q; When did you join Lifeline?

Kirk: Joined about 2 years ago

TonyHateley: You are testing my memory a bit here and as I have said before it is not good. I've just had a look at my bank statements back to 2007 and I was paying it then but I can't go back any further, so I've certainly been in it since then but I was in it a lot earlier than that but was made redundant in the early 90s and stopped it for a while and then started again when I got my finances back on track so I reckon on the present numbers I have been in probably since 2000 or some thing like that, sorry I can't be more specific.

Q; Why did you join Lifeline?

Kirk: Because it gives something to the club and also gives me the chance to win prizes at the same time.

TonyHateley: The reason I joined is simple I love the club and wanted to help them out whilst at the same time hopefully win a little something myself.

Q; Could you tell me some of your highlights during the time you've been a member?

Kirk: Highlights has to be winning £100 a few weeks ago.

TonyHateley: I have had one win and that was the jackpot £1,000, I remember I was working at the Derbyshire Times Newspaper in Chesterfield at the time and my wife phoned me, I was worried that something was wrong because she didn't ring me normally, when she said the postman had just brought a cheque from Notts County for £1,000 I nearly fell through the floor, I never checked my numbers so it was a great surprise. We used the money to have a great holiday that year.

Over the years we have been to some great events organised for Lifeline members, every year they have the Lifeline Gala Night, where there is normally some entertainment and a chance to win £10,000 and a car if your numbers are drawn out. At one such event we bought some raffle tickets and were amazed when we won an Executive Box for a match of our choice for 8 people. We had a great time, I can't remember that match but as soon as people knew I had won I suddenly had lots of friends who wanted to join me. In the end members of my family and two close friends including a Chesterfield fan joined me in the box, I think we won but again memory fails me.

Continuing the good luck theme but not related to Lifeline, I always buy a 50-50 ticket at the match and have twice won, once when my son was with me at the time he was a struggling student so I shared it with him, I think it was about £400 he was well pleased but probably spent it all on drink as students do. The second time I was on my own and it was a night match so the win was a lot less about £200 I think but still a lovely surprise and I remember going to claim my prize and they gave me an envelope with cash but I had to wait a while and when I walked back to the car which was parked on Trent Embankment, the crowds had dispersed and it was dark, I was really worried about having this cash and if anyone had followed me I could be mugged. Paranoid or what.

To join lifeline please visit the official club website.

Lynn Lawson's kindly answered some questions for us, please do keep an eye out for this feature as we are very honoured to have had our questions answered. This will follow shortly but for now please do visit the official website to find more information.

The past couple of days for myself haven't been like any others, it's actually been awhile since I felt this type of excitement. I had been asking the Italian Magpies quite a few times when or if they planned to come over, very much wanted to meet them, and I can now say I have had that pleasure. What an absolute honour for us, to be included and able to share the day is just beyond anything I can write or say. Very surreal! It felt like the whole two days were more than just a gathering, almost family being reunited – Two Hearts and One Soul.

I'm not sure I can give this occasion the credit it deserves, yet I am inspired with ideas and so I will be turning this into a couple of blogs also. I think Nottingham/Italy will be hitting the Facebook severs with how many statuses/image uploads have been made (or should I say will be).

The day for me and Jake started off by catching the bus into town. We had arranged to meet up with Andy Black at the train station as a couple of the Italian Magpies were travelling down.

I felt pretty nervous. I can usually overcome this if I push myself but I think the excitement didn't allow me to do so. I pretty much stayed in the background but was concerned about seeming rude or uninterested, just very overwhelming.

We got to near the Broadmarsh bus station and I noticed Andy, Paul, Lindy and Josh walking. I mentioned to Jake they were who we were meeting up with and he kindly reminded me of a time. I shouted 'You Pies' to Lindy in the Broadmarsh shopping centre as they walked out of Wilkos.

Paul quickly noticed us, and he said hello and I introduced Jake to the group. I'm sure he must have felt a lot like me, if not worse, though both Paul and Lindy were amazing with him.

After meeting up with two travelling Italian Magpies, Max and Phil (His real name isn't Phil), we all walked down to the Jury's Inn where the rest of the group had been staying. Jake by this point was a little more nervous and he was getting a little impatient, as children do.

When everyone was together, it was amazing. The bond was interesting, as an outsider to watch, as you could tell instantly it was a special group of friends who all enjoyed the excitement of such an amazing event.

A quick tram journey to the City Centre, another short walk to Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, several photos taken at this point and a nice look around the pub. The group sat down, we all enjoyed our drinks and the laughter/banter started to come a little more.

Jake by this point was playing games with me, at one point he pretended to be Spiderman and insisted I was the bad guy who he was going to beat up. He can get quite hyper if allowed, though he's a credit to me and my wife (very lucky with all 3 of our children). He wanted to put his “Pride of Nottingham” T-Shirt on and was asking if I would be handing out flyers.

Jake wanted to hand some to the Italian Magpies, though I didn't really like the idea and I was sure, thanks to the kind work of Giorgio Zunino, that each would know about the site. He quickly came out of his shell, laughing and asking me questions.

Andy returned from meeting up with Paolo and his son. Jake by this point was very, very excited about the day ahead and repeatedly mentioned 'Can I say hello to them'. I was already on the verge of doing so myself, however Jakes enthusiastic largely helped and we went across to introduce ourselves.

We finished our drinks and then we had another short walk to the Robin Hood statue where we had many photos taken, Jake being a little poser was disappointed as I wouldn't allow him to go into the photos and I asked him to wait so they had one with all the Italian Magpies without myself or him photo bombing.

Amazing, I might type this quite a few times but all the group were very kind to Jake (I know he'll be proud of this for years to come). Phil kindly gave Jake his “Juve Scarf” and things like this always makes him very happy, He was very grateful.

The journey continued with something Nottingham residents would have wondered what was going on. A large group of Notts County supporters walking to the ground, all very proud and acting as any football fans should – respectful to all.

Once at Meadow Lane the event stepped up to a much higher level, 'special' just doesn't give it credit and I'm afraid I can't explain it.

Walking onto the pitch with the Italian Magpies – One of our proudest memories. Included as friends and a affiliates. Do they ever stop giving? Such loyal, passionate and amazing people who I wished I had gotten to know much better. I have to say I wished I could have come out my shell a lot more, however I enjoyed it and you can tell that they did.

Credit needs to go to Lisa and Andy Black, great hosts and they've introduced the Italian Magpies to the best of Notts County. Lindy, Paul and Josh all credit to the group as-well. The club did fantastic to make this day special, I hope it brings us all closer together.

Juventus doesn't owe a single thing, the Italian Magpies travel for the passion and much to their dedication. I hope the day is documented by the club because each visit does deserve to be remembered in a nice way.

After all the amazing efforts from many, this was exactly the type of “positive” day the club as been in need of for a very long time. We need things to lift the spirit, fans majority amazing, also very warm and welcoming.

People clapping such deserved support! I felt like an imposter and rather feeling I didn't deserve the memory, I still don't but I am thankful.

Thank you to everyone who made Jake feel on top of the world, all the warmth and love. I sincerely hope the Italian Magpies had a great time, feel the warmth and love we all gave. If I am not too selfish, I would also like to mention that I dearly hold on to the future and hope to get to know them all much better.

Italian Magpies – Dear friends of Notts County Football Club.

The survival of any football league team ultimately falls down to it's fans. If the clubs are fortunate to be in a position where they can spend money, usually at our level or the one above, again it's down to the support. As you fall further down the footballing pyramid it's often uncommon to see cash being spent on players, minus the few exceptions. Most clubs make use of wheeling and dealing, free transfers and of course their own youth system. At Notts County we ourselves realize that our own team is mainly built around free transfers, aside from Judge and Boucaud.

Top name players naturally attract interest with a team full of stars. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and of course Manchester United, among many others no doubt will perhaps fail to worry about the concern of support.

When the support is utilized the effects can be noticeable, the combination of passion and dedication can take a team quite far.

We've seen many successful cup runs in recent years, I have no doubt it's a result of optimism and something which encouraged our players to play at their peak or perform at a level good enough to warrant such runs.

Obviously a lot comes down to pre-match training, coaches and even the players themselves , but without the boost, the support, where would they gain the spring in their steps? Any footballer is hardly going to want to fail, It's about getting the most of them and if this is being failed for any reason, doom and gloom is hardly going to have the desired impact.

I've been concerned with the lack of passion for some time. When things are going right, for many, there's still enough for fans to complain about.

I can understand a level of disappointment but when do you draw the line? I'm sure we are all passionate people, all wanting the best for the respective clubs we support but what difference can we make? I feel a lot myself.

No, we can't change how the players perform, this is down to management and their own desire. Often enough, when we go a goal down, well the passion dies with it. I miss the days when a fan would stand up and start chanting, drawing others into singing as well. We used to be fairly good at bouncing back. The term 'bounce back ability' was something I often heard mentioned.

Times during the previous seasons (just not under Paul Ince) I felt confident that we could turn results around. We've been a side that's always been made up of 'team players' and the odd reliable player in the correct area I.E. Lee Hughes.

The thing I'm trying to get at is, nothing is possible unless we all work towards the same goals. If we lose 5-0 on Saturday,God I hope we don't now, but if we do, what's the point in allowing ourselves to go on the downward spiral.

We expect the players to pick themselves up, even pretend that certain players warrant the abuse they receive, but at the end of the day when are we, as fans, going to do the same? If a player or manager was to swear and verbally abuse you for not backing the club 100% you would probably stop attending games.

I can understand the concerns with regards to expense, although I will openly say here that I feel for some it's an excuse to a show a lack of support. It's obviously not always the circumstance but if you find yourself in the situation of not being able to afford something, would you really shout it from off the top of your roof?

Really, I praise the club for putting out attractive offers and I hope that fans will consider renewing or purchasing a season ticket. All the revenue gained will no doubt be spent on the club, so if we're to move forward in the right way, it's about trying to support the club as much as we possibly can. As a family, my Wife and I have to choose which games we can attend all together but there's nothing we like more than watching the club as a whole family.

If I could go with my family, see the smiles on their faces, and believe me it happens even when we're losing. Well it's a good day out regardless of the result. We've witnessed our team play and have shared a memory together. I made similar comments at the home game against Rotherham United in the cup, it's all about the ups and downs.

God forbid if we were to fall on worrying times again, how would we handle this situation again? Life's not about giving up, it's about making the most of it. The future really is Black and White, so if we're going to make a difference lets make it together?

Please do consider backing the club, your support will always be appreciated by the club. Over the years I am sure many season ticket holders have made firm friends, those who attend every now or then will most likely know someone too.

We are a League One team on the up, no longer the League Two side fearing the drop into the unknown and to avoid this we need to believe we can achieve.

If anyone at the football club reads this, I firmly believe in our title and site name. I would be mad to use it otherwise. We might be a small minority at the moment but the difference that's trying to be reached, for me, is clearly noticeable. Lets do this properly!

You can find ticket details here, onwards and upwards as Mr Trew would say.

I eagerly looked forward to the fans forum, I felt it was the perfect chance for things finally to come into perspective and focus to the concerning matter of 'support'. Usually I would have missed this, I wouldn't want to sit alone through an event like this and I was very grateful for Jurgenpie allowing me to tag along with him. I feel as always it's proven to me how naive I am, as my eyes widen further to what was a pretty disappointing night for me. I enjoyed the company but the night could be so much more, which I feel should have been the aim.

The night started off with a question pointing out the absence of the players, I agree to a point but I don't feel all of the players should have been there. Key players, anything more would have turned the night into a complete witch hunt. Another question raised was the concern of the Sirrel stand being empty, which isn't the case as the away fans are seated in the stand but I felt a little sorrow when I thought of the fond memories I have of sitting in that stand myself with my Grandfather, who I believe would understand that it makes no sense to spend money filling a stand, when we can't fill two others.

Chris put himself across rather well, I liked his answers and his passion. I believe we as fans need to make a turning point ourselves and some things we need to respect will not change. It's for us to make the stands a place to be heard but with very little reason I don't see much changing but I personally try.

The pitch for me has become an area to blame, the pitch is poor but football is being played and if we can be beaten on it, well we can win simple as that. The fact is the players need to learn to raise their game, they need to get used to it.

Ambition seemed to be questioned with words of 'backing'. I think any potential striker will look at many different aspects and unfortunately Notts County isn't always going to be their number one choice.

It's important that any players who do come are given a chance, they need to prove themselves although far too many players receive negative comments far too early on. Walsall for example have unproven strikers and have supported them, it helps them and give a much needed boost. They aren't struggling, the case for me is Arquin can be a very important player if we look to play to his strengths.

Admission prices should be met with deals and the club is doing very well with this, regards to my opinion and I am very glad to see the increase of a free childs season ticket bought with an adult season ticket. I will be taking up this option myself, the fan yesterday who said he had two children and couldn't afford it. Well I have three, my children love attending games and I have to choose who I can and can't attend with. As a family club it's all about 'families' and deals should be made to keep attracting them, as a regular guy with no general background it could be lost in the future but a family who live and breathe Notts County clearly have it in their blood.

Students are a great option, although not as attractive for me, as they may simply move on and attract lifestyles away from the city. I think things need mixing, creativity with admission fees is the answer and knowing the market more wisely would greatly benefit the club.

Performances, well this comes down to many things and it includes morale. At this point in the season we sadly won't see the best of all the players and I feel we should, though morale is a funny thing and it's all down to getting the best out of the players. I don't feel Chris fails to motivate them, I personally think it's a big ask for an unexperienced manager but he's a role model for any player to look up to.

Top Spenders, isn't exactly the answer. You need the right balance of cost and value, I think we have a few too many players increasing our budget compared to some of the smaller clubs and sadly the mentioning of a top six budget gives some fans high expectations, we deserve to be placed where our budget falls and this isn't football.

Gary Lidde, I've been a huge fan of him and he is underrated in my opinion. When we saw the return of Manny I took to the official facebook page and commented on how he should return back to midfield, it was greeted with abusive responses and negativity. If Gary enjoys playing at the back fair enough, though I do feel it's worth giving him the chance to shine as he does in defence but back in a more forward position, after all we see him making the runs often enough and him pushing up from defence.

I would also like to note, I would be disappointed for us to move on from Meadow Lane even if we had the money. Making the ground smaller isn't the answer, just because Juventus do something quite successfully, along with a few other clubs doesn't mean it's our answer.

Yesterday I left the fans forum a little disheartened, probably rudely to those I was with which wasn't my intention. I walked (on crutches) to the city centre wondering why I bother, why I try to make a difference and why I should continue but the answer is I love the club my grandfather introduced me to.

Notts County have confirmed the appointment of Chris Kiwomya as permanent first-team manager.

The 43-year old, whose career progression has been impressive since joining the Magpies as development squad manager only last year, has signed a three-year deal at Meadow Lane.

Ray Trew's decision to appoint Chris Kiwomya is explained on the official website: Link

What are everyone's opinions on the Notts board's decision? Is it a good, shrewd move by Ray Trew, putting faith in an internal appointment, or should he have opted for a more experienced, proven man? Is it motivated by footballing reasons or financial reasons? Should he have waited until the end of the season to make his decision or was it good to confirm his signature now?

Pride Of Nottingham is supportive of Ray Trew's decision and eager to see how he handles the final few games of the season, and crucially, what kind of transfer activity he will preside over in the transfer window; hopefully we can strengthen our team in the right places while keeping the spine of what is a very talented squad. Come On You Pies!

Pride of Nottingham reflects on the upcoming games that Notts County have to the remainder of the season. On paper the ties could prove to be a difficult task of collecting points, which includes a trip to the current top of the league, Doncaster Rovers and 2nd place Brentford. The only exception is Colchester United, although nobody can rule this one to be an easy game as football isn't so predictable and neither are they. Notts County will be required to step up if they want to finish around the position we did the following year, come on you pies!

Our first upcoming game at Swindon Town this coming Saturday on the 23rd, will see us play a team who could have very well been in the running for the first place, had they have beaten Brentford, Walsall which they draw 2-2 to the play-off chasing side and the shock loss to Bury. This could also include, like us, Preston North End where they ended up drawing 1-1 which is a shame we narrowly lost.

Friday the 29th Notts County face Brentford away, this will probably be one of the games to watch right now. Brentford are making steady progress in securing one of the top two positions and if the worst, for them happens, they will most likely fall into the Play-offs in which they have good chances of winning in my opinion. Brentford have won their past two games (which includes a 2-1 win over Swindon Town). Prior to this they had lost two games.

Notts County will then face Yeovil Town on Monday the 1st of April, this will be my chance to finally witness the growing star that is Paddy Madden! Yeovil have drawn their two previous games 2-2 and 0-0. They enjoyed a narrow win over Tranmere Rovers and lost to Colchester, proving they are no under dogs to be dismissed.

On the 6th of April Notts County play Bournemouth away, a game which newly joined Fergio79 will be hoping to attend. We hope that any of the travelling readers warmly welcomes the return of this Juventus and Notts fan. Bournemouth previously had a five game losing streak! Turning it around at Stevenage 1-0 and then following up with a win against Oldham, another 1-0 win.

Notts County will be at home against Colchester United on Saturday 13th of April, our 2nd from last home league tie and one I hope fans come flocking to attend. Colchester's form has been a little patchy, although it's improved in their last four games which has seen them beat Bury 2-1, draw, lose and draw to struggling Hartlepool United.

On Saturday the 20th of April, Notts will travel to Doncaster Rovers. This is another game which Pride of Nottingham members will be looking to attend, as we look to take a small group. Doncaster who sit 1st currently are the side I most want Notts to beat (I can hope). Portsmouth drew to them 1-1, a game their manager openly questioned the second half performance which they put in. They previously beat Bournemouth 2-1, lost to MK Dons and beat Hartlepool United 3-0.

Our very last game of the season will take place at Meadow Lane against Coventry, the game which falls on Saturday the 27th of April. Coventry fans will be hoping by this point that they are securely inside the play-offs and it will be down to us to make sure we end the season with a good performance and result. Coventry previously beat Hartlepool 1-0, they drew to Colchester and they beat Scunthrope United 2-1. Swindon Town were the last team to take all 3 points by beating them 2-1.

A couple of good performances in any of the above games, a few wins and our season may end a little more positively. If we build now, next season might hopefully be very different but all the weight will ultimately fall down onto the players.

For a season which started off so promisingly, the twist and turns haven't made life dull. We all hoped to make the play-offs, this sadly looks very unlikely but there's still a glimmer of hope.

Pride of Nottingham is looking forward to sharing a full season with Notts fans and we hope to grow together, through the good and disappointing times, as fans we can voice our thoughts constructively.

Come On You Pies!

My highlight prior to any home games is to buy a programme, I read these with my son and my grandfather used to collect them. Over the years we've seen so many different changes, for myself the thing I most look forward to his reading Mr Trews notes. There's many other interesting pieces within #themag but none more so than the 'Chairman's Notes'. It's a privilege for us at Pride of Nottingham to be able to carry the notes to the fans who may or not have read them, it makes interesting reading to recap or share to brand new readers.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for this npower League 1 game against Scunthorpe United.

Let’s not shirk the main issue of the week, Tuesday night’s performance simply wasn’t good enough. I have seen a lot of the comments in the wake of that defeat to Preston and whilst I do not agree with them all obviously, I can empathise with the supporters.

There is a general acceptance that our hopes of reaching the play-offs this season have all but been extinguished, but if there is anyone in the employment of this club who thinks that this is a reason to stop trying, to give anything less than 100% until the very last kick of the very last game, then they are very much mistaken.

Anyone who is happy to take a wage from this football club, taking money out of the pockets of our supporters, should be prepared to go above and beyond expectations in everything that they do in the name of Notts County, it is the very minimum that I expect from my staff in all of my businesses.

You can’t always perform to your best, for one reason or another, I accept that, but to not try, to not give your all, is quite simply unforgivable and I won’t stand for it, from anyone.

Our supporters and our commercial partners deserve better. Our history deserves better. Our very existence as a professional football club deserves better.

I have my own views on where the problems lie and I will look to put things right, but I would like to thank everyone who has turned out today for their continued support, it means a lot to me personally and to the club as a whole.

That only leaves for me to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Scunthorpe United to Meadow Lane this afternoon, I hope that you enjoy the hospitality on offer but face a challenge worthy of the World’s Oldest Football League Club.

Firstly, Pride of Nottingham would like to extend our own thoughts regarding the loss of Notts Fan Joy Sharpe, our thoughts are with her family. It's such a sad sorrow to learn about this, I personally will always remember Joy as a fun, smiling individual. The match report will follow a little later, in the meantime you can read Mr Trews notes below from yesterday edition of #themag. Thank you for taking the time to visit our site, please do re-visit us and take a moment to reflect on Joy. R.I.P a true Notts Fan who inspired!

Good evening everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for this npower League 1 game against Preston North End, our last scheduled evening game of the season.

With just eight games left after tonight, it’s make or break time in terms of who will be involved in the end of season play-offs. We’ve got our work cut out to make it into the top six, but it’s still possible so has to remain our target.

We have, of course, already started putting some plans in place ahead of next season, but we have to focus on the current campaign, so some decisions will have to wait for now.

One thing remains in no doubt though, and that is my commitment to moving this club forwards, both on and off the pitch. I like to think that the club has come a long way in the past three years, but there is still a lot of hard work to be done and I am relishing the challenges that lie ahead.

There is a real challenge facing our side this evening in the shape of a resurgent Preston North End team. I would like to welcome the players, officials and supporters of our guests to Meadow Lane this evening.

I must end my notes this evening on a sad note, following the tragic passing last week of a lifelong supporter and one of the most ardent commercial sponsors that the club has been lucky enough to have over the years, Joy Sharpe.

Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Joy for a short time, the impact that she has had on Notts County will never be forgotten. A true stalwart of the club, who was always ready to help in any way she could, Joy will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her and everyone associated with Notts County Football Club.

RIP Joy.

After a draw against Tranmere Rovers, Notts county return to Meadow Lane where they beat Bury FC 4-1 live on sky sports. Mr Trews notes found in the Carlisle United edition of #themag touches upon the armed forces who were present for charity at Meadow Lane and promoting the good work of Prostate Cancer UK. As always the notes are a highlight with the award winning programme and we're very proud to feature this on our website.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for this npower League 1 game against Carlisle United, our first home game since Chris Kiwomya was officially named as manager.

We have some very special guests with us this afternoon, in representatives from the Territorial Army and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families Association) promoting the work of our armed forces and helping raise money to help support those that have served for our country.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the armed forces and the brave men and women who protect our interests and freedom both at home and abroad, so I hope you will make our guests feel most welcome and give generously if you see the collectors around the ground.

We are also promoting the good work of Prostate Cancer UK, the official charity of the Football League for this season. As the most common form of cancer amongst men in the UK, we owe it to our fans to raise awareness of this disease and the treatments and support available to those affected by it.

Lots going on off the pitch then, but of course the reason that we are all here is to see what happens on it and to that end I would like to welcome the players, officials and of course the supporters of Carlisle United to Meadow Lane.

As I mentioned, this is Chris Kiwomya’s first home game since being confirmed as full-time manager and I hope that you will all get behind him as we look to build on the encouraging start that he has made in the job.

I thought that we deserved more from the game at Tranmere on Tuesday night, but if we maintain that level of performance, we will get the rewards that we deserve in the run-in to the end of the season.

On the back of two consecutive draws with identical score lines, we move onto Bury FC after playing Crewe and Walsall. In recent times we've seen our side play strongly for 45 minutes but often disappointing first halve appearances. The game against Bury was virtually the same, as we allowed them to play direct football and limited our own movements, following up with a wonderful second. In the Bury edition of Mr Trew notes he reflects on our recent performances and caretaker manager Chris Kiwomya who now takes control until the end of the season.

Good evening everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for this npower League 1 game against Bury that is being shown live on Sky Sports.

We come into this game on the back of a strange couple of performances recently, in which we seem to have been a completely different team in the second half to the first.

I think it would be fair to say that when we’ve been good, we’ve been very, very good though, and I’m hoping to see much more of that from the first whistle until the last this evening.

There has been a lot of speculation about the managerial situation here at Meadow Lane, with Chris Kiwomya appointed as caretaker manager, but the fact is that nothing has really changed, Chris remains in charge whilst we consider our options and that means that he has complete control over first team matters until told otherwise.

I am sure that every supporter has their own ideas on who they would like to see appointed, so whilst we may not be able to please everybody, what I can assure you is that this decision will have been taken after intense consideration of all available options and based on who we think is best placed to take this club forwards.

Back to this evening though and I would like to welcome the players, officials and of course the supporters of Bury that have made the trip down to Nottingham.

It’s always nice for a team to put on a good show in front of the cameras and that’s obviously what we’re all hoping for this evening, so let’s get behind the lads and ensure that we are all doing our bit to show the very best of Notts County both on and off the field tonight.

After a series of away games we finally managed to watch an home game at Meadow Lane, one I had been personally looking forward to watching. Mr Trews notes come at a time where the fans will genuinely appreciate having a clear insight into the daily life of the football club. After the dismissal of Keith Curle and other matters, Mr Trews notes reflect on a very important matter with regards to the attendances. Please take the time to read the notes as they give a little more reflection to life at Notts County.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for this npower League 1 fixture against Crewe Alexandra, our first home game under Caretaker Manager Chris Kiwomya.

There are obviously a few things to cover in my notes this week, but I must start by wishing my wife Aileen a very happy birthday for yesterday and hope that you will join me in wishing her all the very best. I will let her tell you how old she is!

I would also like to welcome the players, officials and, of course, the supporters of Crewe to Meadow Lane, I hope that they enjoy the hospitality available to them.

Now, to the obvious matter of interest. Whilst I don’t want to dwell on the departure of Keith Curle as Manager last weekend, it would be remiss of me not to mention it and thank him and his team for the work that they did here at Meadow Lane.

Suffice to say, performances had not been what we had hoped for in recent weeks, attendances had begun to drop, albeit for a number of reasons, there was a rising level of discontent amongst supporters and two wins in eleven games simply isn’t good enough at this stage of the season.

That is a very brief summary of the reasons behind our decision, but I will be able to talk further about this at our Fans’ Forum, which is due to take place in the Meadow Lane Sports Bar on Friday 1 March.

For now, I must call on everyone to get behind Chris Kiwomya and his team. No decision has been taken on a permanent appointment at this stage, but Chris has a great opportunity to state his case and I know it's an opportunity he is keen to seize.

Notts County today have confirmed the signing of John Cofie on loan from Manchester United. John spent time earlier in the season with Sheffield United where he scored 2 goals in 16 appearances. He's a young striker at the age of 20, hopefully adding some hunger to our squad. Notts agreed terms on Thursday with United and he travelled to Meadow Lane on Friday morning to complete his move. He is the first signing under caretaker manager Chris Kiwomya, who has signed in a fairly decent prospect and will have a pacey player at his disposal.

Many fans might have hoped for a more experienced player, one whom may already have more playing experience but none the less we welcome John Cofie as a magpie!

He started his career off at Burnley where he was highly rated for being strong, determined but also very fast. He quickly earned a move to Manchester United where he stayed in their youth system until late 2010. After which he moved onto their reserves team, since being loaned out.

His first experience was found at Royal Antwerp of the Belgian Second Division which saw him play 13 times scoring 3 times.

Speaking to our own resident from Manchester SteveMUP regarding this loan signing, Steve told me that John is a very raw product but gives nothing less than 100%. “He's still regarded fairly highly amongst the United fans who follow our development system” Steve added. “I had hoped he would establish himself further at Sheffield United, he's a very fast player. I see him being a very useful signing for Notts County. Obviously this isn't a signing that your fans will be over the moon about, give the lad a chance first”.

John has been given the number 19 shirt, which makes him eligible for the game tomorrow. We encourage all fans to try to turn the recent events into positives, lets get behind the club and sing until we can't.

http://youtu.be/M349xIgSHPg

Keith Curle has today been relieved of his duties as Notts County manager with immediate effect. Notts were disappointing against Hartlepool with the performance not reaching the standard of a team who sat nearly 30 points above then bottom of the league Hartlepool. Notts now look forward in their search for a new manager to replace Curle, and with a few big names jobless at present, speculation will be flooding the media for the next week or two. Being a Notts fan it is not unusual to expect sackings and changes of manager.

A poor run of form when many believe Notts should be at least battling away in the play-offs would most normally be the primary reason for a manager’s departure. In this case however, Mr. Trew explains that ‘this (was) a business decision as much as a footballing one’ going on to explain that ‘fans are obviously key to the club and their support is essential’.

Whilst many will over-look this as they begin to dream of big name managers such as Nigel Adkins or Simon Grayson, that small quote demonstrates something quite extraordinary. Perhaps that Trew was forced into sacking Curle not as a result of the loss to Hartlepool, but rather the resulting expectation of a miniscule attendance for Notts’ next home game. I feel that fan power has truly cost Keith Curle his job and one can imagine a sympathetic call to Curle on Sunday afternoon from the board.

Alas, with Keith Curle gone and Notts still able to push into the playoffs with a good run of results, Curle will become a distant memory. I would suggest that the next manager to appointed will be one with good public relations, especially in interviews and winning the respect of fans. If there’s one thing Mr. Trew wants, that is much increased home attendances to get money circulating around Notts again. With a capable squad and the right manager at the helm, the potential for a great season is not all lost.

Various rumours often circulate around the footballing world, at Meadow Lane it's no different for Notts County especially in recent years (I dare not say why). Recent reports have seen us linked with an ex premiership striker who was originally assumed to be Craig Beattie, who failed to impress Keith Curle. It was stated in local media that he wanted to bring in players who could make an impact straight away and concerns regarding Craig’s fitness were raised therefore the experienced striker wasn't offered terms at the football club.

In recent weeks various names have been mentioned but the club, especially the media team who suggest no signings will be made. Many fans also don't expect any additional squad players since Mr Trew openly spoke about clawing back a 70k loss.

This doesn't seem to have made any impact on the rumours which have seen us in recent years linked with a fair few players.

It depends where you read but you will come across at least one rumour surrounding a striker. Ian Henderson has been mentioned across various social streams including the official facebook page for Notts County.

The most popular however surrounds a more experienced player, who is close to the end of his career. The player in question is at the age seemed to be preferred by Keith Curle being mature at the age of 33.

Jason Scotland, who was released by Ipswich Town on the 21 January 2013 after agreeing terms to mutually terminate his contract, is being linked with Notts County in online media.

This story is also gaining momentum on Twitter, which has seen tweets suggest that the player is set to sign with the club shortly.

Jason, unlike previous targets, does show signs that he can be a prime goal scorer, as he had enjoyed a successful period with Swansea City netting 45 goals – in 90 games in 2007 to 2009 seasons. He also has had success at various clubs including St. Johnstone and most recently Ipswich Town where he scored 19 goals – in 87 games having been with the club since 2010 until his release.

Typically a strong forward who plays very well off advanced midfielders, he's known for being in the right place at the right time and has scored a few goals from being a poacher due to good reading of the game.

It is unclear if he has left the club due to his fitness levels although a different class from the earlier names being Beattie and Henderson. He could very well be worth the gamble, as calm composure could be what's missing at Meadow Lane at this point in time.

On a night very much filled with optimism ahead of League One clash against Oldham Athletic, things again have turned to the weather which doesn't seem to be holding back Notts County or the great efforts shown by many involved within the club. The outcome I feel will be the turning point which leads me to mention Mr Trews comments from the #themag. In last nights edition were given more insight to some of our fans concerns as Mr Trew openly mentions talks about undersoil heating, also clearly the passion which PoN is trying to add on ourselves.

Good evening everyone and welcome to a very wintery Meadow Lane as we look to beat the weather once again to play this npower League 1 game against Oldham Athletic.

I have to start by saying a massive thank you to our Youth Team players and coaching staff, the office staff, groundstaff, the workforce supplied by our sponsors On-Call Recruitment and of course all of the supporters that volunteered to help get Saturday’s game against Sheffield United on.

If you are reading this it hopefully means that we have managed to beat the frost again this evening, which will have been another fantastic achievement. I can’t stress how important it is for the club to get games on whenever possible, we always do all that we can to get matches to go ahead as scheduled.

There has been further talk of undersoil heating over the past couple of weeks, but the truth is that, until we are at least in the Championship, this solution simply isn’t financially viable for us. That doesn’t mean that we are looking at and considering all available options though.

I would like to welcome the players, officials and supporters of Oldham that have made the trip south this evening. It was their continued involvement in the FA Cup with Budweiser that meant this game had to be postponed of course and I would like to wish them all the best for their game against Liverpool in that competition this weekend.

For Notts though, I am just hoping to see more of the passion and determination that were on show on Saturday because it is exactly that kind of display that we will need in every game from now until the end of the season if we want to be challenging for promotion.

#themag is something I personally always enjoy and look forward to on Match Days. If I cannot make it, I will do my best to make sure it's not missed and so I usually walk down to Meadow Lane so I can obtain my copy to read with my son Jake. A feature that really stands out for me, is the personal notes from our Chairman Ray Trew. It brings an insightful view on recent on-going and his own thoughts ahead of games. His notes ahead of yesterdays match against Sheffield United is one I very much enjoyed, it's refreshing to read these comments.

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Meadow Lane for this npower League 1 game against many people’s pre-season favourites for promotion, Sheffield United.

Obviously the first thing to say is that I hope the game has been given the go ahead and we can finally get back to playing football, we really don’t need any more games in hand.

The weather certainly hasn’t been kind to us in recent weeks and whilst that has allowed us to get a few players back fit, it also means we have had to keep the squad fresh and focused, which is difficult when they are not playing regularly.

We can’t whinge about it though, this is the situation that we find ourselves in and we have to address that as best we can, there is still all to play for and we’ve been in a similar situation in the past, which ended quite well as I remember!

I would like to welcome the players, officials and of course the supporters of Sheffield United to Meadow Lane, I am sure that they will arrive in numbers and in fine voice, so there will be a challenge on and off the pitch this afternoon.

Finally, in light of recent speculation, I would just like to reassure fans that Notts County are not in the midst of a financial crisis. Times are tight, as they are for all businesses, and I am certainly not prepared to keep bankrolling the club indefinitely, but that shouldn’t be a cause for concern.

It just means that we have to operate more astutely as a club and plans are already being put in place to ensure that we continue on a sound financial footing whilst also remaining competitive on the pitch. Your continued support can only go towards helping this obviously.

Onwards and upwards

The Shrewsbury game seems to be a distant memory now. For myself it's hard to believe we haven't played since the 1st of January 2013. The weather forecast doesn't seem to help our lack of events surrounding Notts County. Apart from the signing of Andre Boucaud it has been very quiet, not much seems to be happening at all and I'm starting wonder if we will make any other signings. It's not a complaint, I'm just hopeful that we may add bulk to our squad. More importantly I cannot wait to see the colours of our team on the field, battling to rise back into the play-off spots.

In recent news reports you may of seen Scott Laird has publicly accepted Jamal Campbell-Ryce's apology regarding the challenge which caused Scott to break his leg. It's good to see, although it's a sign as to how quiet it has been at Meadow Lane as it's hardly a worthy of a headline story.

After the comments of Mr Trew, it's brought concerns regarding the 70k debt and although I don't like reading about any debt, I would like to add it's good that it's not much higher compared to Swindon Town who are reported to be losing £250,000 a month. It makes me even more grateful that we have the Trew's behind the club as I am sure his accountancy is vital to keeping things flowing without rising to such a concern.

I feel it's important that when the next game, whenever that may be, we get fully behind the club and squad, try to do as much as we can to help get back our finances which may allow us to be in a position next year to add further improvements. Survival is important, I wouldn't take anything else but would like to help secure a brighter, more promising future. After all, any help we give the club we may see reflect back towards us supporters and if not we can surely help reduce the debit by making sure we take along a friend or two, purchase from the club shop and even find alternative ways of getting money back to the club.

These postponements will not be helping, it's quite concerning but we can make the difference and I'm sure the club would appreciate all our efforts in trying to help ease the debt loss.

Over the next coming weeks I hope to bring more news to your screens, more signs of growth and although it's a slow start for us, it is nice to know that Pride of Nottingham is serving the Notts County community. It's important that we focus on being a good alternative source for fans and this is very much our focus. Please consider joining if you're a frequent reader, we would love to say hello and see our community (forum) flourish with new discussions.

It was early on handing out flyers ahead of the Brentford game on Saturday that I originally heard the rumours surrounding Lee Hughes. I had approached a supporter, who at first seemed interested until he noticed the artwork in the centre of the flyer. He responded by asking if I had heard the 'news' giving no indication as to what he meant. He added 'He's leaving anyway, good riddance if you ask me', I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

Not long after, I overheard a group of fans talking about the circulating rumours. I asked one of them what the news was surrounding Lee Hughes and one of the fans replied 'It's been on the radio, He's handed in a sick note. He'll be gone in January.

I focused on giving out the flyers but it seemed to be getting quite some attention, as I noticed many fans debating it.

During the warm ups, I briefly scanned through themag and noticed Yoann Arquin wasn't listed among the substitutes but I thought nothing of it. (I'm still not sure what to make of it) It seems odd that he would go to get a 'refreshment', especially with the timing but I recall the Jon Harley moment the previous season. It can't be all that weird, surely?

It was after the match the rumours, at least for me appeared to be getting more momentum. I noticed many comments online, around various streams, giving the feeling that fans we're mixed regarding the rumours and only a few appeared to be indecisive of what to think. Now the media are picking up on the story, which is probably going to escalate the matter. The evening post online mentions '"I will be speaking to Lee and we will see where we go from there. As soon as we can get him back available and back into the club the better," was all he would say when quizzed on the matter by the Post.” which would now suggest that Curle was in denial at first.

Either way I look at it, Lee is one of our players and if the rumours are true the club really need to address any possible situation. It would be a shame for him to end his career in doubt, especially considering he's a cult figure at the club.
