Alan Judge

Recommended Posts

Alan Judge has been a key talking point recently regarding leaving Notts to move on to Championship sides which have shown clear interest in our attacking minded midfielder.

Judgey told magpie player that he would like to stay at Notts and that he is still waiting to renew his contract here. However unofficial sources have claimed that there has been interest in Alan from many teams, some Premier League. This has left much room for speculation as a player of his quality, with an expiring contract would make a great transfer for a Championship side.

Its without a doubt that Notts would miss Judgey if he moved on, but what are other fans thoughts on the matter?

It would sound slightly selfish and biased, although I would hope he'd consider signing a shorter deal. I think a player of his nature needs to be playing consistently, which includes putting in exceptional form which I believe he does. He would struggle in my opinion if he went to a premier league side, possibly a championship side but not down to his ability. More down to the fact he's at an age where playing is vital to his growth, he might struggle to secure first team football higher up. I don't this is just my view, though he's class here. I strongly feel staying even for one more year would help his game, yet it depends on how much of gambler he is. (No one's guaranteed football)

Would be sad to see him leave, despite being a player I would love to see achieve great things. (I just hope it is with us)

Seems unlikely he will stay, though until that point. I won't be thinking about it much, as it's quite depressing to see our best players leave. :P

If I well remember, last season Notts wanted to give him a new contract but he didn't signed.

He's maybe the top quality player of the team, but...unfortunately I think he's gonna leave IF Notts won't be in Championship next season, or an important team will try to buy him.

He's a young player. I think he likes to stay in Nottingham but of course he wants to play at higher level. To stay in Championship could be good enough for him, league one is too lower. In an exclusive interview I made, he said he would like to play for his National team, but Notts is too low in fa so Trapattoni would not see him.

I hope he can stay because he's pure class

Players are very different, Michael Johnson has disappeared from Man City. He didn't seem to produce the best performances during his time in the championship and if I recall correctly he got injured during his stint with Leicester City. He's the type of player who could rekindle his career dropping down, it's being wasted as it is now.

Judge isn't a starting 11 player for a premiership team, championship I would say is his level.

Depends how he see's it in his own head, Ireland don't have all that many options within the higher league. Well nothing like it used to be, when every side had a Irish player who you could see fitting into the squad. I don't see why League One would be too low for a call up, if your good enough it will happen. Yes he's playing against weaker players, though it's a risk if the timing isn't right. I see where Joe is coming from!

Major loss if he leaves, how old his he now 24? That may play apart in his decision.

Judgey would be a big loss in our push for promotion. He has been a good servant to Notts. Every player should be given the chance to progress themselves.

If he was to leave in the transfer window I would be initially gutted. But, we do have players to cover and the expected cash it would bring in would be useful towards filling other positions.

Best of luck Judgey, whatever the outcome.

You Pies!

It really is simple, Alan Judge wants to play championship football next season. It feels like at heart he wants it to be with Notts and should they make it into the Championship, he would be likely to sign a new contract.

However with Notts slumping further down the table it increases the chances that Notts will be forced into selling him in January rather than him going for a free if Notts don't make promotion in May.

Tricky decision, but he's vital and we need him.

I think the same!

And on the plus side, if we sell him, we can get a fair bit on money for him and possibly buy a few quality players which can help us get promoted. After all, Judgey won't get us promoted on his own!

If he has no intention of committing to a new contract (which I am sure isn't the case completely) it may be the better option to use whatever we can to rebuild, although I still and always will hope he rethinks it. We have time to reflect on this and Curle can make plans, though we'd be much better off with him than without but players always leave at some point.

I'm hoping Notts keep him, hes a very good player and most fans seem to like him too. As for him wanting to be in a higher league, i'm sure mot players do but if your happy with the club your in i don't see a need to change.
