Who do we keep?

Recommended Posts

I was gonna wait a couple of days because I'm still fairly angry after that result... maybe I'll post any alterations after I calm down.

Roy Carroll - Keep - Doubtful he will want to stay.
Mustapha Dumbuya - Release - On too much and not good enough to justify his wages.
Blair Adams - Keep - Young, and a decent fullback for L2 level.
Alan Smith - Release - Lol, get out.
Hayden Mullins - Release - Retire
Haydn Hollis - Keep - Backup CB for L2 level.
Will Hayhurst - Keep - Could possibly be half decent at L2 level, maybe on the bench.
Nicky Wroe - Unsure - Don't know/haven't seen enough of him.
Jimmy Spencer - Keep - Will score for fun in L2 and with a half decent side in L1
Ronan Murray - Keep - Get better soon Ronan.
Garry Thompson - Release - Too old.
Sean Newton - Release (Don't sign) - Back to Lincoln. Give Trew a lift.
Gary Jones - Keep - Maybe one more season to guide the youngsters in L2
Taylor McKenzie - Unsure
Curtis Thompson - Keep - Will be a vital part of our L2 side, I would imagine.
Liam Noble - Keep - If he can keep his head, he's a decent player at L2 level.
Greg Tempest - - He still at the club?
Billy Daniels - ? - Is he part of the media team or something?
Mike Edwards - Fitness coach
Bálint Bajner - Release
Kevin Pilkington - GK Coach

Cieron Keane, Brad McGowan, Fabian Spiess, Drissa Traoré, Elliott Whitehouse, Colby Bishop- ?

Roy Carroll - Keep - Doubtful he will want to stay. Keep at all costs
Mustapha Dumbuya - Release - On too much and not good enough to justify his wages. Keep / unsure about his back tbh but would destroy full backs at that level
Blair Adams - Keep - Young, and a decent fullback for L2 level. Keep again he would be very good at that level
Alan Smith - Release - Lol, get out. Release first on this list of our dads army
Hayden Mullins - Release - Retire Release second member of dads army
Haydn Hollis - Keep - Backup CB for L2 level. Release he has always been useless and he wont get any better
Will Hayhurst - Keep - Could possibly be half decent at L2 level, maybe on the bench. Keep Moniz will get the very best out of him
Nicky Wroe - Unsure - Don't know/haven't seen enough of him. Keep We need a ball player and he would be my choice
Jimmy Spencer - Keep - Will score for fun in L2 and with a half decent side in L1 Keep with the right service would score goals for fun in the championship never mind the hard hat league
Ronan Murray - Keep - Get better soon Ronan. Keep Ditto please don't get injured again we can't afford you too
Garry Thompson - Release - Too old. Release just plain cack
Sean Newton - Release (Don't sign) - Back to Lincoln. Give Trew a lift. Don't sign

Taylor McKenzie - Unsure Keep only decent centre half we have, would suit the ball playing style we are going for
Curtis Thompson - Keep - Will be a vital part of our L2 side, I would imagine. Keep solid performer
Liam Noble - Keep - If he can keep his head, he's a decent player at L2 level. Keep could be part of a decent midfield next year
Greg Tempest - - He still at the club? Release if he hasn't been already
Billy Daniels - ? - Is he part of the media team or something? Unsure
Mike Edwards - Fitness coach Keep he hasn't done anything wrong in his role

Cieron Keane, Release.

Brad McGowan, Keep as central defender alongside McKenzie

Apart from Spencer and Curtis Thompson the rest are all dispensable. I can see an argument for keeping Jones and Garry T but, tbh, they are too old and past it - we need better, younger, more agile prospects. I can't see Carroll & Dumbuya staying but if they want to stay they would be welcome IMO.

Adams and one of either Wroe or Noble would be ok in Div 2 - the rest are tripe, get rid.

Rubbish like Hollis, Whitehouse, Newton, Hayhurst, Bajner and Smith should never earn a living playing football again. All absolute garbage.

The only players I'd want to keep hold of are Carroll, Noble, Spencer and Murray, and to be honest I doubt any of them will want to hang around in league two.

There's a major rebuilding job to be done and we have to get our recruitment spot on. These next couple of months are massive for the club

Get rid of nearly all of them.

Adams might do an ok job.

McKenzie. Not seen enough to know.

Curtis Thompson. Definitely. Build it around him.

Spencer when fit.

Bin the rest.

Not just been one though has it? The warning signs have been there a while.

This is the third time we have finished on 50 points during this stint in League One. If you keep visiting the barber, you're going to get a haircut.

I doubt Carroll will stay, however he's worth pursuing.

Dumbuya, Hollis, Hayhurst, Spencer, Murray, McKenzie, C Thompson, Noble and Bajner = Keep.

Adams - I am unsure about, he was very poor against Gillingham and his control goes missing in too many games for me.
Wroe - He could be a valuable assist if he could become more consistent, I feel he would look a quality player in League Two. He could be worth the gamble!
G Thompson - He could be useful as a backup/rotation player, he knows how to score which is important but as a winger he doesn't cut it for me.
Jones - He could be a massive player but then again his legs could just go, I feel he could do a job however.
Tempest - He will probably be released but I feel League Two could push the player he is out. He just needs game time and confidence.

Release any unmentioned.

You lost me when you mentioned Hollis, Tempest & Bajner mate. Dreadful footballers, Murray isn't much better either. Another season watching dross like them fills me with despair.

Quite why anybody believes a cart horse like Hollis will suddenly look ok in Div 2, where his clumsy, panic laden style will be even more exposed than this season is mystifying tbh. Turning circle of the QM2 and about as much skill as a wardrobe. He could join Tempest at somewhere like Carlton Town for my money, doubt either would get selected tho'.

In saying that though I've just been told about the Tom Williams Twitter rant and at least Tempest stuck up for the club!

Roy Carroll - Keep - Doubtful he will want to stay. However much I want to keep him he probably wants to play in a higher league.
Mustapha Dumbuya - Release - On too much and not good enough to justify his wages. Release, the only thing he has is pace and he doesn't use it effectively.
Blair Adams - Keep - Young, and a decent fullback for L2 level. Keep, young and decent going forward
Alan Smith - Release - Lol, get out.The money collected for the driver of the coach on the way back from Crawley wasn't named 'The Alan Smith Retirement Fund' for no reason
Hayden Mullins - Release - Retire Realease, too old and not physical enough for a centre half
Haydn Hollis - Keep - Backup CB for L2 level.Release, we don't want to be bad Stoke, do we?
Will Hayhurst - Keep - Could possibly be half decent at L2 level, maybe on the bench. Unsure, he doesn't bring much to the party but I feel Moniz could bring out his technical side
Nicky Wroe - Unsure - Don't know/haven't seen enough of him. Keep, probably the most technically sound out of the current crop and he could do some good things for us
Jimmy Spencer - Keep - Will score for fun in L2 and with a half decent side in L1 Release, he spends most of the time on the floor moaning at the ref
Ronan Murray - Keep - Get better soon Ronan Keep, he could be of great use alongside a target man should we choose to sign one.
Garry Thompson - Release - Too old.Release, he has the odd good moment but too old and doesn't have the pace anymore
Sean Newton - Release (Don't sign) - Back to Lincoln. Give Trew a lift. Off you go, Sean. I'd happily give both you and Ray a lift, even though I don't drive!
Gary Jones - Keep - Maybe one more season to guide the youngsters in L2
Unsure, he would give anything for the team but he can't do a great deal on the ball. Keep if we want a defensive midfielder though
Taylor McKenzie - Unsure Keep, I think he could develop into a good centre healf given that he gets eno time on the pitch
Curtis Thompson - Keep - Will be a vital part of our L2 side, I would imagine.Keep, do I even need to explain?
Liam Noble - Keep - If he can keep his head, he's a decent player at L2 level. Keep, his temper can get the better of him but I like the fact he always looks to go forward
Greg Tempest - - He still at the club? Unsure, not seen anything of him
Billy Daniels - ? - Is he part of the media team or something? Where did he go? Was he the mascot kid at Gillingham with Daniel on the back of his shirt? Keep though if he score some more bangers!
Mike Edwards - Fitness coach
Bálint Bajner - Release Release, he can't run nor does he win headers, which is surprising considering his 6 foot 5 frame
Kevin Pilkington - GK Coach
Cieron Keane - Release, the king of stray passes
Brad McGowan - Keep as someone for our future plans
Fabian Spiess - With Carroll more than likely going, it could be a risk releasing him. Keep.
Drissa Traoré - Keep. Bags of pace and skill, hopefully Moniz can help him improve his passing range.
Elliott Whitehouse - Release, Titus Bramble would do a better job on that wing. Very disappointing after a solid pre-season.
Colby Bishop- Give him a chance, he's only just been given a contract.

Roy Carroll is staying so that's a good place to start the rebuilding from. Now for two decent centre halves :)

Good news about Carroll.

2 decent  (and fit) central central defenders for my team too @MuddtPatchPie

Talking of centre halves, where's Krystian Pearce these days??

Released by Torquay, wages too high and he underperformed.

Shame how he went downhill, he had potential to become a quality player. One of Notts' best centre halves in recent years imo

Roy was the player of the year. Would have been relegated in March if it weren't for him. Apparently Mrs Trew described it as another fantastic season! I think she was talking about the ladies surely? Or did I miss something?

With people telling me that Ricardo doesn't really want any foreign signings, wants homegrown players, who is signing these? I doubt Ricardo knows of any English players who want a gig in a failing L2 club. So what are we relying on now? Pilks, Eddy and Kevan to sign the players? Or even worse, Branston?! My prediction is the Trews are even going to surpass their own ridiculousness in deciding the signings themselves. They can't even sign a manager, ffs!

Morning! The players will be having contract meetings throughout the day today.

Obviously the loans of Sean Newton, Leroy Lita, Paddy McCourt, Graham Burke, JCR and Jordan Williams have all expired.

Still under contract: Adams, Hollis, Hayhurst, Wroe, Spencer, Murray, McKenzie, C Thompson, Noble, Daniels, Bishop and Cranston.

We hope to have the latest news on the OS later today after the meetings. Hopefully!

You probably wouldn't want to kick too many of those lot out, apart from maybe Hollis, Hayhurst and Daniels. The latter we know next to nothing about.

I'm sure Ricky will do his homework @Super_Danny_Allsopp, he's been in contact with players already.

People tend to forget how young some players are when they join from other clubs. I've heard no end of talk about Hollis not being in his prime yet - well Daniels and Hayhurst are both younger than Hollis and have played much less first team football! They're both under contract anyway and won't be earning much. Maybe they'll be able to contribute more next season after a good pre-season and as part of a settled side.

Agreed. With the addition of Roy in goal, I would hope the meetings today go something along the lines of

"Thanks, but no thanks" to all the rest. After they're done, maybe call Hollis in, Hayhurst and Daniels and say "look. Stay by all means, but you will need to up the game by about...errmmm... 100%. If you can't do it we'll release you now and get it over and done with!"
