Hull City are rebranding their name to Hull City Tigers for the new Prem League season.

Notts could become Notts County Magpies and Derby become Derby County Rams etc.

I,personally prefer traditional names and do not care for this type of Americanisation

What do you think?

Americanism?

Jesus, I hope Tottenham don't do this! Can you imagine them calling themselves Tottenham Hotspur? Oh wait... ;)

It will start a trend, which I hope it doesn't. Arsenal Gunners, Manchester Devils and Liverpool Thieves!! I fear it already. LOL

It feels very American putting the 'Tigers' into the name. In Baseball they all have the team names with a cheesy nickname on the end - Tamba Bay (Rays) for example.

Keep it traditional and simple, everyone knows their nickname is the Tigers anyway!

Agree with Super Danny Alsop, it is commercialisation, again - very bloody American!

Disclaimer: I am not an American-hater! :P

I agree entirely on everything that's been said. I'm not a cricket fan but haven't they done the same with Sunday cricket, Notts Outlaws instead of Notts CC.

I don't think it's that bad in cricket, it sounds okay in my honest opinion.

Many people I know refered to Notts as the Outlaws and we're a famous City from which we are probably one of the only one's in this world that is known for such a thriving tale regarding the origin of the nickname.

For me, Football as no place for such names.

It's always been City, Town, Rovers, United and so on.

With cricket people refer to the teams by their county, so it's not really the same for me. If we refereed to a team we'd include the last part of their name.
