Notts-Joe Is Wrong

All opinions definitely needed on this one before it sparks a Unipie/Notts-Joe war!

The issue is JCR. Me and Joe normally agree on most Notts matters but I could not believe my eyes when I read this in our conversation.

In the context of discussing JCR's attributes, I quote from Joe: "Who's the player we look to cross the ball, create play, exploit defenders, get into the opposition area? JCR"

My response was astonishment to which I replied how I could not believe he was of this opinion. To my utter dismay he replied and I quote again:

"I'll disagree with you, think we need to stop relying on JCR. He's too good for this league and the pressure he has on his shoulders is probably more than any player"

I was astounded by his opinions! Do any of you agree with Joe's comments? I love a good debate but I hope I'm not on my own in this one in thinking JCR is a weak link in our side?

I feel once he beats a man, he then back tracks and tries to beat him again. I never feel like the guy has an end product and is far too greedy and breeds too much individualism.

Tell us your opinions!

Of course there is weak aspects to his game, as with any player.

I strongly feel we need to see him partner with the right back or at least see another midfielder link with him, he can only do so much. It's normal to see a winger beat players and pass, which he does very well but sometimes I don't feel he's supported enough as he should. Our players drop off him when he goes on runs, the same thing happened yesterday and he was looking for ways out.

He ended up having to try and shoot, the ball was blocked.

It's not down to a winger to be the driving force of a squad and I honestly feel this is the case for Jamal. It's a team sport and if there's one thing I know, we as a squad don't support or try to help each other. He provided numerous decent balls to empty penalty boxes, where players have been slow to try to attack.

We use JCR as way to exploit teams and when he goes on runs, he can be skillful and breath taking to watch but sometimes you get caught out (as a number of players do) I don't need to mention any names because this would include the majority of the side who took part in yesterdays game and countless one's prior to that.

With any good squad, you need to make sure a player is assisted and I firmly believe if we did this we would see a much better JCR. He could in my opinion make the team in the majority of championship sides, at least up to 8th. He's an asset and a player who on his day can be the better option out of our attacking players.

He's way to over analyzed.

You ought to be careful @UniPie, I have found in the past that disagreeing with the boss is never a good move.

I have never played the game at any proper level apart from a kick around on the rec so I don't proclaim to be an expert. I enjoy watching Jamail play on his day he is an exciting player to watch, he does have a tendency to be greedy and want to try and beat everyone which isn't a bad thing but at times I am screaming at him to pass the ball.

I personally think its a bit strong to say he is the weakest link in our side but I wish he was more consistent with his performances and until he gets that consistency into his game I think he would struggle to hold down a place in a Championship side.

I easily get frustrated with him.

He has all the skills and technical ability to be absolutely quality in this league, but at the moment he's average.

As mentioned above he beats a player, beats him again, then runs himself into a dead end.

I think someone needs to work with him on his decision making and educate him when it is appropriate to beat his player and when he needs to release the ball.

I've KC and CK in my time, shouting at Jamal to take people on and to run down the flanks. He had a bit of tiff with CK at Ipswich because he didn't want to do this, so I feel it's unfair to he's naturally greedy.

Most players have this in them.

I think SDA has a point about working with him, although that said, if he partnered with people and wasn't relied upon so much. It's quite possible his deliveries would improve, he would become less ball greedy because let's face it he doesn't get support nearly 60% of the time. Our players don't support each other very much but he's good enough at our level at least in my opinion and I would happily take him if I were a championship manager.

I'm going to get my pitchfork and hope so of you come join with burning flamed rags.. We might as witch hunt all of our squad whilst we're at it!! LOL

its simple, we do ask too much of jcr but he does it okay at times.

i think the problem is with performance levels but hes good enough for our division. think some championship sides would love his services but for me i would like to see us try to use the other side more. i can where joe is coming from, barely know we have a left sided midfielder these days. i cant wait to see bell in the side for this reason!

In the context of discussing JCR's attributes, I quote from Joe: "Who's the player we look to cross the ball, create play, exploit defenders, get into the opposition area? JCR"

This should be the role of each creative player in a football squad.

"I'll disagree with you, think we need to stop relying on JCR. He's too good for this league and the pressure he has on his shoulders is probably more than any player"

It's hard judge to form opinions when the message does not contain how the above comment came about, at least not in detail. I feel it's a fair comment.

Campbell-Ryce is one of those players who can do a lot, he can the difference between winning and losing. There's no doubt our better players are carrying a burden, it's just the other players to step up but to suggest he is not good enough I think is wrong.

Too good for league one? I don't know about that, I think he's at his current level.

Certainly, this makes for an interesting discussion but leaves me wondering who should we have to take his place if he is not good enough?

I don't think we can rely on any one player fully. The team is a "team" for a reason they need to work together and not rely on one or two players. Obviously some players are better in certain areas of the game than others. What happens when players get injured or leave the club and we rely on them... finding replacements can become hard. Everyone always has a favourite player and has different opinions on everything too.
