Hardy taking break from social media

Recommended Posts

2 thoughts... First, he may be selling

Second, managers in the frame have declined following Saturday's match. A relegation to the National league can be seen as a career ending move

It can only be a good thing right now, I still think there's more going on and that the rot could be prevented. Time to pull together, make a difference and make it a positive one.

best thing for him tbh but more importantly its best for the club.

i admire him answering the fans questions but he takes everything so personal, he gloats and acts like a general arrogant person but i am sure face to face hes very different.

If he takes a break, at least he can focus on the business side of things as even though its nice that he does reply to fans... Its not always a good thing when he doesnt always say what they want to hear.

I agree it's about time.

I would like to see him remove his Notts tweets all together personally, his account should be private. I bet he wished some of his group chats was private. 😛

I don't care what he says now, I just want him to focus on the good PR the club can get and to focus on restoring all the damage that has been done this season.

He has finally done the one thing I've wanted him to do since he took over as it must be soul destroying when you are trying to do your best for the club, but all you keep getting is abuse. Hopefully it is a permanent break and he doesn't go on under a different account and keep searching his name to see what people are saying.

He should just keep the communication with fans via the newspaper and website in future.

I have called for this for a while but I don't think this is off his own back. I think hes been told by the next manager to take a break and focus on the club. Or he is running away from the inevitable of selling the club and can't deal with the pressure or abuse if he was to do this.

https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/2018/november/alan-manager-update-191118/

I am pleased to say I have now shortlisted three strong candidates to attend second interviews for the vacant manager’s position at Meadow Lane.

All three made excellent first impressions, demonstrating extensive experience and huge enthusiasm for the role.

I look forward to meeting them all again to discuss things in more detail and hope to make an appointment later this week.

On a separate note, those of you who use Twitter will know I have decided to take a break from the platform.

I have never shied away from criticism or debate in my time as owner and chairman and fully understand supporters’ current frustration and anger, particularly following Saturday’s unacceptable performance against Cheltenham Town.

Unfortunately, however, the level of personal abuse I am beginning to receive on Twitter means the positives of engaging via that platform are now far outweighed by the negatives.

I’m fully aware that most of the mindless negativity directed towards me comes from so-called ‘trolls’ and supporters of rival clubs looking for a bite but it’s not healthy for me – or my family – to see a constant stream of such messages.

At a time when I need clear, balanced judgment more than ever, it is the right decision to remove myself from the firing line.

I sympathise with the genuine Notts supporters who enjoy having constructive dialogue with their chairman but can assure them that I will still be communicating regularly via official club channels to ensure they are kept informed.

Thank you for your continued support.

Alan

Other clubs fans hey? I don't see why any would abuse or troll him. I have seen some Notts fans tweet silly and pathetic comments.

He may get abuse and he maybe being trolled.

It's always been best he was sensible with his tweets, the bad PR and on field issues need resolving. Besides, some tweet him showing thanks and he can twist it.

I think it's the right thing that he takes a break from social media, it must be hard when the clubs not doing well but he has to accept both sides. I don't condone abuse but he's stretching the truth a little with what he says, just like everyone was supposedly attacking the previous owners.

There will be nasty people out there but why he can't just block them I will never know.

I also think he should not have explained why he came off, its obvious and it's what fans have been saying for ages now.

It will sound cruel but I don't have much sympathy for him at all, it was obvious how it would end and at first I thought it was good he communicated with fans. I just feel he engages in arguments and becomes petty point scoring.

Quite ironic after his suspension from driving.

It's for the best, he's been to bold and rash with his comments. For all the hate he gets it does seem a bit unfair until you see him belittling young female fans and acting in a manner nobody could respect. He needs to focus on being the chairman and see the club as being a business, not his play thing.

Good that the penny has dropped at last. He should really have made this decision at the beginning based on Ray Trew's experiences - maybe the prospect of adulation on Twitter following the takeover was just too tempting?

It's the right decision. Hopefully he sticks to it.

Alan Hardy left Meadow Lane very quickly tonight, if things continue I think Twitter won't be the only thing he's stepping back from.

As @Chris said he left very quickly last night after the game .. he left in a mood my sauce told me.

To be fair I’m enjoying a twitter free Hardy at the moment his actions or tweets  wasn’t always what was best for notts not was it professional either so I think it’s a good idea to take a step back.

He only got on board less than two years ago - I don't think he'll give up on his investment so quickly. I often get out of work quickly and in a bad mood, it doesn't mean I'm going anywhere.

Besides, I don't think he'll be going anywhere as quickly as he was a few weeks ago! :D

He was in more than a bad mood.

He seems disassociated and uninterested, quite a few fans that I spoke to have said about how he's spending less time at Notts too. It wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't thinking about stepping back, he could easily get someone else like Paul Hart to act as chairman.

I think it's best Alan Hardy doesn't engage fans, you have to be a good people person and understand who out there are genuine.
