Doyle commits future to Notts County

Recommended Posts

Fan favourite Micheal Doyle has commuted his future to Notts County even if they are relegated to non - league football.

Doyle signed in January on a 18 month deal which would see him stay at meadow lane till the end of the 19/20 season but in a recent interview Doyle confirmed that he would see his full contract out no matter the league.

I don't want him.

Don't get me wrong, I think he started well enough and isn't the worst player we have had. I don't think he's all that bad, I just don't want a player who doesn't have the passion or engine to keep going for 90 minutes. It's not his legs, it's all down to his ambition and he's awful on set pieces. Why do we insist on allowing him to take them? We might as well allow Rob Milsom to put every cross into the box for us (who BTW has been dire going forward, despite some fans love obsession with his defensive work).

I want to see Notts strive to sign good 22-25-year-old(s).

Hartlepool was relegated with a very good midfield, they were weak at the back. Carlisle has taken on this torch of having the best young midfielders.

Imagine how Kane Hemmings and Kristian Dennis would have worked IF they had people behind them talented enough to be creative, eager to run 90's, able to pick the ball up and push forwards. Doyle is just very overrated.

I said when we signed him some would have forgotten what he was like with Portsmouth and Coventry, especially towards us.

Sign better, wages could be used much wiser.

Exactly what @Chris has said, would take O'Brien on but not Doyle.

I think he's very much overrated and nothing at all near O'Connor who we allowed to leave.

I echo those thoughts. Doyle offers know-how that can be very handy in a rearguard situation, but hasn't got the engine to offer us any more than that. O'Brien isn't afraid to make his presence felt further up the pitch and have the odd shot and is the pick of the two for me.

It's a nice vote of confidence in the club though. And it's moot point anyway, as he's under contract next season. Maybe he'd be a useful man to have off the pitch too, Alan Smith-style?

if his wages reflected the amount of games he might play and notts signed more defensive able young players, i think he would be okay as a leader on the pitch. otherwise i think hes past it buts hes okay.

not the worst player we have signed this season by far.

Never liked him from the minute he signed for us I don’t forgive and forget what he did at the semi final of the play offs. So weather he stays or go I’m not bothered hopefully he goes.

He can commit his future if he likes, I would rather have someone more hard-working myself. He's okay, I disagree with the views that his legs are gone because your mind is the most powerful player of playing football i.e the ability to read the game.

Experience counts for little to some these days.

We tend to be stuck with the ones we don't want, so its not a surprise.

Things like this is all down to who Neal Ardley wants to work with, we can have our opinion but it means little at the end of the day. I would assume his experience is important but just like those people rattling on about Jon Stead, take him away and then where would Notts be right now?

Glued to the bottom of the division indefinitely.

Just like the club would be without Kane Hemmings, they need to make the most of them.
