does neal ardley squad now have good enough depth?

i think the squad has the depth we need, i know there are concerns about upfront but wes thomas, kyle wootton and kristian dennis all seem bang in form. they are capable of scoring goals, and nathan tyson does offer us suitable squad rotation.

with the signing of alex lacey seems to give us the final jigsaw which was loss of sam graham.

what do you think? do you have any concerns?

There's room for some departures still I feel, yet the depth is good. I think more time needs to be given to the likes of Sam Osborne and Remaye Campbell (the latter if needed) as we have Nathan Tyson.

I do feel the squad is looking good right now.

Osborne will only grow further with suitable game time, he will be a waste if he's not given the nod and pushed by Neal Ardley.

Honestly, I am not sure if there's a requirement for any activity in the transfer market now. The squad is very big for this division, suitable depth is there and for me promotion will rely on form. I don't expect it this season, I think stability is the way forward.

This will take time, yet I feel the depth is there.

I agree with the above comment, I don't think any squad in this league has our depth or even the quality we process right now.

There's one issue which may pursue come January, that is the attraction of players from Football League clubs.

Right now things look good, however if clubs come in for Kristian Dennis, Wes Thomas, Enzio Boldewijn, Mitch Rose etc. They will be much harder to replace!

Team and hard work is everything in this league mind.

We have one of the larger squads in the league I believe. Plenty of competition for places which is important as it keeps everyone on their toes and makes sure that no players are slacking

Also vital we have squad depth for these stages in the season when the fixtures build up and injuries become more frequent

Not just that but we have strength in depth too. For example in midfield we have Michael Doyle (anchor man), Jim O'Brien and Regan Booty (Forward thinking passers) and Mitch Rose (the presence and the ball winner). We also have Tom Crawford who is energetic and likes to roam forward too.

Up front as well is another area. Kyle Wootton (the target man), Wes Thomas and Nathan Tyson (pace and pressing), Kristian Dennis (poacher).

The quality is unlike many in this league (no disrespect but not many teams have our strength in depth). Some in our squad shouldn't be playing at this level but Notts and Ardley have the pulling power at this level to attract.

GK - Slocombe, Fitzsimons, Kean (if you can count him)

RB - Brindley, Kelly-Evans, Tootle

CB - Turner, Rawlinson, Lacey, Bird

LB - McCrory, Bakayogo

CM - Doyle, O'Brien, Booty, Rose, Crawford

W - Boldewijn, Shields, Osborne

ST - Wootton, Dennis, Thomas, Tyson

Out on loan: Dunn, Howes, Campbell, Culverwell

The depth is a satisfactory standard, I wouldn't dismiss adding the right player mind.

With the window always being open, things can change and that means Notts needs to be able to adjust at a moments notice. The squad looks good enough to push on, I think the form and performances have been decent.

We have a great squad in my opinion, maybe a little top heavy at 28. I really think we need to get a reserve team fixture programme to keep the fringe players match fit. As the bad weather approaches injuries may become an issue and players need to be able to come in and hit the ground running.

There is enough cover in every department of the pitch, I still expect Matt Tootle and Ross Fitzsimons to depart. If we let 3-4 players go, it would still be something the club is blessed with.

With the transfer window being open, there is chance to dabble if needed.

Notts has enough depth now in my humble opinion.

most fans have said we will be a force to reckon with once they gel, there seems to be signs of this. we just need to get behind the club, manager and players.

no inbetween.

The depth looks good on paper, I want to see more from the players coming in when the squad needs to be rotated.

Things look fine when they're settled.

It's a bit different when Neal Ardley is making 5 or more changes, playing people out of position but this is reduced with the quality that comes from having a big squad. I just hope that Jim O'Brien doesn't return to the wing when he returns, he's a stronger midfielder and better in the centre.

We seem to be almost there in terms of the squad gelling and we do get behind the team quite a lot. There are good signs being shown game by game

Especially the last few. The will to win and the ability to change up our tactics. Another good sign is the strong team togetherness to bounce back from defeat and also keep calm and remain focused when we are behind in games.

These are vital essentials that a team,  that wants to be up at the top of the table, needs.

@ARLukomski do you feel enzio and rose needs to be given a chance to rest?

neither have impressed me for awhile, i mean they do okay but not as effective as they should be. could sean shields come in for enzio and tyson or thomas give a bit more cover out wide to let regan booty occupy the middle of the park?

@liampie Enzio is a player that we have start with. He may come in for criticism for his effort sometimes (he was injured last season which didn't help) but he's improved his defensive game and we need that player who can produce magic out of nowhere.

Rose has fell below standards in the last few games. On occasions, we do need his presence and ball winning capabilities, but you can only play one of Doyle or Rose in my opinion. When both play together, we are too deep and lack creativity and energy in midfield.

Rose's game isn't centred around creativity or unlocking the oppositions defence but basically winning the ball back.
