Not a massive surprise, but nice to get it over the line and really gives us depth across that back line:

That depth will obviously help with the well publicised Saturday-Tuesday schedule that we are faced with for the majority of this season. Bolton fans (at least on their forum) were surprised to see him released and thought he was a decent player, despite their own tricky season. Bradford fans (again on their forum) thought he was dreadful, probably partly due to him being part of the season they finished dead last in L1. Again, this is still two steps above where we are at the minute, so even a poorer L1 LB will be better than most of what you will find in the NL.

He’s pretty much spent his entire career in league 1, if you were that bad you’d be found out sooner rather than later. I’m not worried about what a few Bradford fans have to say, apparently he played all over the place as well. Sometimes players at certain clubs just don’t work and in his defence he’s been in and out of teams since MK and never really settled anywhere.

I’ve been reading a bit about him on the Bolton forum as well and the majority of them would’ve been more than happy with him at LB in League 2. I kind of agree looking over his past, on paper he should be a regular starter for a good L2 team. The general feeling is he’s better in his own half than the oppositions (by no means a bad thing I’d rather have someone who can defend well first and foremost). He's dropped 2 levels now, the quality will have dipped and it will be easier pushing forward against non-league full backs for him. He should be a really solid player for us.

He's a good player, one who has been very loyal to past clubs.

A quick left back who is very direct with the ball, decent with crossing and defensive duties. Someone I don't feel should be playing at this level aged only 28-years-old, so that would show it as being some form of a coup for us. I'm not aware of any injuries or personal issues, however, it would seem that signing for Bolton has somewhat screwed him over. He's the type of player other clubs become interested in, as the team he plays for believes they've out grown his services. I'm happy, I know exactly what he offers.

I can see him becoming a regular starter, as he's a lot more natural in the position compared to Damien McCrory who I actually like when in form/fit.

He sounds like a solid player with a decent pedigree, in the same mould as many of our signings last summer. And, with his addition, McCrory might have more opportunity to help out as centre half, giving us a bit more depth across the back. Has been without a club since January, but now he'll have more or less a full pre-season with the squad to get up to speed.
