i think the issue is we need to try to recover from the breaks, when we play consecutively notts does quite well. i dont know if training can fill the gap of playing a proper league game but we need to manage this situation better. i think golden might be the only change, is slocombe available for this game?

You'd expect a response. The players owe NA a decent performance after Saturday's effort. Stockport away is a tough fixture at the best of times. In some ways it's better to be playing a decent side because there will be no room for complacency. I expect a focused Notts tonight. My gut feeling is that it will be a draw. 1-1 for me.

Probably a draw, but we’ll see.

Stream purchased and tea cooking. Sorted for another night of football.

Lets hope come 10pm tonight we’re celebrating rather than bemoaning lack of chances again.

We’re a real mixed bag. Occasionally, it is fantastic, but more often than not, we’re lucky and scrape by imo.

I can’t see us going up and and expect us to be needing a new manager come end of season.

A point away from home is a good result but it was more by luck than by design. Pilling was MOM. Give him 2 actually. He was that good. Notts didn't try to win the game but that's NA way. Looking at the online comments, the majority of fans are happy with NA it seems. I'll say it now, I don't see Notts getting promoted with NA in charge. His limited style will be found out at the business end, just like against Harrogate last season. Prove me wrong Neil!

I would agree @Dripsey3

Its well known I’m not a fan of Ardley, but I’ll give credit where it’s due. At the moment, struggling to give any. Yep, he’s built a solid defence and a never say die defensive approach. For me, we end there unfortunately. The lack of creativity in general, is worrying. Tonight was a fair point in poor conditions, but automatic promotion teams turn those wet and windy nights away into three points. We ‘respect the oppositions far too much imo. We have the players to totally dominate games from beginning to end, but it doesn’t happen anywhere near often enough. Most managers would give their right arm for a squad like ours, and we seem to be happy to chug along.

I don't think some of the more extreme doom and gloom is justified after 13 points in 6 games, but it is frustrating to work ourselves into an extremely promising position, only to slip back again.

It's now very obvious that our lack of goals or attacking threat in general is a serious problem. Our only goal in the last 270 minutes of football was a long-range punt (albeit a very nice one). It's not just a lack of goals though - we just don't put the opposition under any pressure (when did we last win a penalty?) and instead rely on individual quality instead of creating chances from team moves. It's tempting to think that the return of Cal Roberts will help, but I fear our problems go a bit deeper than the personnel.

Maybe not, but let's take our last 3 results:

0-0 to Stockport - lucky to draw
0-1 to Chesterfield - correct result (they didn't create anything else and neither did we)
0-1 to us v Kings Lynn - lucky to get anything, never mind a win.

That's 4 points in 3 games, but in reality without a large slice of lady luck, it should have been only 1 point or maybe 0.

In all 3 games we have created next to nothing. The only goal we scored was out of nowhere from Jake Reeves and he won't be producing them very often. The only reason our defence stats look good is because we got lucky v Stockport and KL.

@DangerousSausage its obvious that notts struggles to keep consistent when games are postponed, i doubt its all that but the fact the midfield needs to be more creative in the centre of the park. i dont think the doom and gloom is fully justified but i understand that performances need to be better.

its just one of those patches though.

notts are the type of team to have this rough spell and somehow still manage to push on for promotion. im not worried, neal ardley is still the right man for me.
