Quigley to Stockport

Recommended Posts

I think he's the **t bas**** who kept elbowing our defenders and cheating, whilst making gestures into the kop when we played Barrow.

I seem to recall him going in with a nasty challenge and getting a red card for his efforts.

It's not the type of striker we need.

Notts might not have been interested in him, looks like a typical Non League player. John Rooney would be a realistic player worth putting a bid in for, he's got goals and usually helps teams to the top.

Fits Notts previous transfer model of being related to a famous Premier League player.

I think Notts needs a striker that can play in the EFL, not just the National League.

No point signing a striker that will be released once the clubs regains it's league status, it makes more sense to build and secure players for the long term.

There's better options out there, missing out on Andy Dallas compared to Scott Quigley is disappointing. Dallas is at the age where he could improve further, but extending his stay at Cambridge makes sense. Perhaps the exception to my loan beliefs?

Quigley is at the wrong end to be building what appears to be an energetic squad.

Roberts and Rodriguez will score plenty if they both stay fit, but Wootton does need some competition. The trouble is, Wootton is hugely important to this team and will play whenever he's fit - and so whoever is brought in will spend a good part of the season on the bench. So I wouldn't expect a marquee signing in that area.

Wrexham's signing of Paul Mullin, who scored 32 goals for Cambridge last season, puts this in the shade, but I wouldn't panic about either. There's no guarantee it'll work out when a striker joins a new club - how many have we signed who were prolific elsewhere but couldn't hit a barn door for us?
