I have mentioned that during December I will be coming back to the UK, I have three weeks [and 3 days] booked off and I want to make as many Notts games as possible. It would be nice to meet up with some of the PON members also, if anyone would be interested?

What would you recommend to do in and around Nottingham?

I am sure the areas changed since I last visited which off the top of my head was 1995, I moved to the states a few years before that. I will be doing the usual things, catching up with distant family and watching Notts. I would like recommendations on other things, so if any PON members can suggest things I can do alone or with my family that would be great. There are relatives I have never seen, so I would like to make the most of the visit.

Thanks....

Its not in Nottingham but only a trains ride away, Birmingham and I think they have Christmas markets in the city centre that is a good day out.

There is a few nice shops to visit in Nottingham.

I think also there is a few pantomimes and shows on at the Nottingham Playhouse they are always good nights out with family.

The castle is still a good place to visit especially if you haven't been for awhile.

Galleries of Justice is always entertaining, I haven't been for years but when I did go I always enjoyed it. The new art museum nearby is okay, most of the things I can recommend involve activities for young children due to my family so I am struggling to think past that.

Nottingham Castle is closed at the moment but if you like old pubs The Trip to Jerusalem is hewn out of the castle rock and is a fascinating place, the caves under broad marsh are good too. Wollaton Park, Thoresby Hall, do a spot of white water rafting at Holme Pierrepont Country Park, catch a show at the theatre Royal or a production at the Playhouse, follow in Torville and Deans footsteps and go ice skating at the Nottingham Ice Centre, ten pin bowling, there’s lots to do in Nottingham.

there are plenty of places just outside of nottingham city, several nice places to go for walks or explore. i would echo @NottsTastic the information provided by nottingham city council is quite good.

Alot has already been mentioned i think.... There may be a few bars you could go to for the odd drink (cant pick one coz i dont go to bars)& there will be alot of christmas events that time of year.  You could have a walk inside and around the grounds of wollaton hall/park.. which is only a short distance from the centre of nottingham.
