  1. Okay, so after seeing the Sterling video posted by Rio Ferdinand yesterday and reading some of the many comments that accompanied both that and Sterling's subsequent Instagram Statement, i.e. "what bad grammar, etc.," I'd like to talk about something very close to my heart! As a young (black) child growing up at school in the late 50's (with only one other black child who'd decided, anyway, that I was "mixed beef"; "a coconut" ('black on the outside/white on the in') and "different" to her because my mother was white and my Dad, Jamaican and therefore 'not worthy' of her friendship and where the white kids regularly told me I "ate cat food"; or was "a ******"; "a Coon"; "a Monkey" and everything else in the farmyard they could think of... but a 'duck!" I attended job interviews in the old style glass-windowed offices where I was one of two people (the other being a white girl) applying for a job only to hear the Personnel Manager tell his colleague, "black 'uns best for the job, but you know company policy, so I can't offer it her!" Then there was the time I moved to London and was accosted by a (very) drunken Irishman on a Tube late at night, who challenged me to help him win a bet with his mates at the pub by asking, "I'm right aren't I? You lot don't have the same red colour blood as me, do you?" Of course I assured him that 'us lot certainly do not' and he could happily collect his winnings from him mates because he'd got it "straight from the horses mouth!" He left the tube that night, gleeful at his own 'superior knowledge'! Then there was the time where my Training Sergeant at Hendon (Metropolitan Police Training Academy) took me in to his office and told me: "See this badge? Well, I'm very very proud of this...and I have to tell you, I just don't want niggers like you, wearing it!" Or the time we were doing scenarios in the yard at the scene of an accident where he was the driver of a 'crashed vehicle'. As the 'officer in charge' I had to ask, "Did anybody see what happened?", only to be told by him, "this big black bastard with long hair came running out and I couldn't avoid him!" I later ascertained the "big black bastard with long hair" was, in fact,... a toy poodle! Then there was the time I'd taken my (white) P.A., Debbie, to New York (as a Christmas present for all her hard work) and met up with a client: the Chairman of a huge International Company we'd previously done Investigative work for but whom I'd never actually met. In speaking with him in London prior to the trip, it was discovered we were both in N.Y. at the same time and so we arranged to meet there for dinner. At first, he went to kiss (yuck - but it WAS the 80's!) Debbie's hand and she immediately introduced me, to him. He looked visibly shocked! At dinner, he wanted to know how I 'felt' being Debbie's 'boss and did I realise how unusual I was...A black woman running a big company with a white P.A., etc.,?' His tack carried on throughout the Starter and on to the Main as Debbie and I became more and more deflated and uncomfortable by his rudeness and obvious racist, vile comments: so, for the first (and last ever) time in my life, we both went to the loo...and did a runner from the Restaurant...and him! There are many stories I've had in my lifetime similar to this but now, with Sterling's recent and very public 'experience' I want to talk about something that affects EVERY ONE OF US IN THIS FORUM... That is, I'm hearing reports of a Notts fan screaming from the terraces at a recent match - to one of our (black) players - that they're "going to stop his banana supply" and of another screaming that he's "a black cnut!" I'd just like to make it very clear and very plain, that if I see or hear any comments of this nature, whatsoever, I will have not one second of hesitation in calling a Steward or a Police Officer to report what I've heard; nor in making a written Statement direct to the club. I will also be more than willing to attend at Court and give evidence against that person, if necessary. It's 2018. There is absolutely NO PLACE for this anywhere in our society and I truly hope that anyone else who hears anything of this nature from our terraces, will have the cojones to do exactly the same as me. I believe that only when this is totally unacceptable to us ALL and people are ready, willing and able to come forward to report it, will there ever be any change in this totally unacceptable behaviour. I think we're so much 'better' than this at Notts...or (at least, for the benefit of my 2/5 year old grand kids I'm bringing to matches), I certainly, HOPE we are! Thanks for reading. Loz x

  2. I think the way the sliders shows all the artwork on sale is great and being in different sections works better too. I don't mind posting the parcels and i think the post office will be used to me soon.

  3. there is no place for any nonsense in the modern game. all this stuff about the lgbt awareness in football is a joke, people being narrow minded, cruel and evil its just not on. the same for racism, one of my friends is black and he does not care if you call him it [i dont] he says its how people treats him. i think the worlds a better place for being more supportive and the cruler people tend to be more vocal sadly.

  5. Ross Fitzsimons. Without him we'd be adrift at the bottom

  6. I don't know about player of the month as I've not been to any Notts games recently but having listened to several games I think a special mention should go to Ross Fitzsimons. After all the criticism and abuse he was given not so long ago I think it only right he should be praised for turning his form around.

  8. There needs to be a ruthless clear out but players are under contract so it’s easier said than done getting rid of them. Ben Hall was a contracted season long loan so not sure where that leaves the wages situation. Evina hasn’t fulfilled his early promise, Davies hasn’t played enough to judge. Ward & Turley are better than Duffy & Brisley but the latter two are contracted. we can’t keep bringing in players with the wage bill as it is so the gaffer has an almost impossible situation. my once buoyant optimism about our future is beginning to wane. I think we have done very well to get Ardley and just hope to god he can sort this dire situation out for us.

  9. Another weekend, another crushing disappointment in the long line of crushing disappointments. Notts County, already woefully trundling along in this season's League Two campaign, were tasked with going to big rivals Mansfield Town in the hope of getting some points. They did perform well enough in the first half, to be fair, but bad defending proved the Magpies' downfall as Mal Benning lofted the ball to the far post from the left and CJ Hamilton turned home. The goalscorer then rattled the Notts crossbar early after the restart as the Stags began the second half on the front foot. Eventually, Hamilton doubled the lead on 63 minutes, making a mockery of the visitors' defence - including a Cruyff turn in their box - to fire home low from 10 yards after Mellis had fed him from the right. Here is ARLukomski's take on the match in his latest vlog video: Share your thoughts about this video on Pride of Nottingham by signing up to the website, visiting the forum and joining in the chat with hundreds of fellow Notts County fans. 10. To trim the playing staff down will be difficult at this time , probably the best we could see happen , would be send the loan players back if the terms of the loan allowed it , loan some of our young players out which I think is achievable and would probably do them more good than putting them into the dog fight we are in ,and hope NA can get more out of a significant number of the remaining players to improve us enough to stay up and finally hope that AH can manage to find some money to bring in 2 or 3 of quality and steel and I think personality to make an impact in the dressing room and on the pitch , massive job on in my opinion.

  12. Alan Hardy. Not a player but has given us a fighting chance of saving our season. Sacked the worst appointment I have ever seen in my time supporting Notts and then bringing in one of the best.

  13. Dear Members/Visitors, As you may have noticed recently our website has proudly opened a store which is focusing on selling quality Notts County prints. We have a wide range already from legends, heroes and icons, to current players and artistic designs. The prints have been received very well and the stock pile brought to cover until the New Year is moving nicely, I would just like to draw every bodies attention to the latest releases and of course all the various prints we have to offer. All single prints cost £15 and offer free UK delivery, we also offer a grouped purchase for Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler legend prints which you can snap up whilst stocks last at £25 for the pair. All prints are A3 size, however at some point we may offer alternatives sizes. With Christmas coming up the PON store has been stocked piled with each print to save time on the delivery, so there are a wide range of prints already available despite these being new. You must be a member to complete a purchase but all details are saved securely and with any site these days, it's just part of the way the process is handled. Orders are completed with payment via PayPal. You do not require a PayPal account as the service allows for the fees to be paid via credit or debit cards. To guarantee Christmas delivery all orders must be made by the 17th of December (UK deliveries). I will offer fans overseas a chance to make a purchase, however this comes at an additional cost for the shipping and members must message me directly via webmaster@prideofnottingham.co.uk or via PM here. It's important full names and addresses are provided, this will ensure the prints are dispatched ASAP. Order whilst stocks last. You Pies! PON

  15. It makes me feel very sad when I hear silly comments, you would be surprised to learn about some of the discrimination I have faced for being someone with an invisible disability. I have had some Notts fans tell me to kill myself, even threatening that they would do it - all over PON and the fact that I decided to do something positive with my life. Some of these fans are well known to likes of people. Racism, hate, discrimination, sexism and being anti-gay is nonsense. Treat people for who they're and not for other reasons. I think racism isn't something that is tackled very well especially in football, but then I go back to the other similar issues and feel what if we could make that difference. I don't see colour, creed, poor, wealthy - I see people. I might be in a minority but I would never hate on anyone.

  16. It has no place in football or life in general, we all have to live together so we have to accept each other for who we are. Not everyone gets on but racism isn't on either way. Sadly alot of people nowadays and in the past find anything they think is different about someone and pick at it. It needs to stop.

  17. Great post! I'm not Raheem Sterling's biggest fan but the way he has been singled out by the press is disgraceful. It's hard to believe he'd have been given the same treatment if he were white.

  18. I'm quite happy to exchange orders in person, @cheeky~k8 is helping me massively to keep track of things and ensure the handling side is ran smoothly. I am delighted with the reception and would naturally encourage people to help spread the word. Let's get the stock down!

  19. And if the praise and appreciation for his performances from PoN and elsewhere filter back to Ross it will boost his confidence further and hopefully spread through the team.Encouragement and support is more productive than negativity and abuse.

  21. Agree with @super_ram and @ARLukomski after the terrible form of early season and as mentioned the criticism done really well to turn his own for on its head in a team devoid of confidence and form , well done Fitz , hope it could inspire others to do the same .

  22. I don’t think he will within the league now, at least over here in the UK. I think he should coach for a few years myself, learn to be hands on and understand actual player management.

  23. Despite the woeful 2018-19 League Two season, Pride of Nottingham wanted to be different and to focus on every bodies favourite current player. The current squad prints include Ross Fitzsimons, Dan Jones, Jamie Turley, Matt Tootle, David Vaughan, Elliott Hewitt, Enzio Boldewijn, Lewis Alessandra, Kane Hemmings and Jon Stead. In the coming weeks we will also be releasing Kristian Dennis. Many of these prints have been made as per request and we pride ourselves on being different, focusing on the current players may not win everyone over but at the same time we do have our own personal favourite. No other players will be drawn after, and requests are closed for the remainder of the season. Once again all prints cost £15, we do not offer any grouped purchases with the current player prints. The style is a full body portrait of the players listed above, framed nicely within Notts themed colours and printed using high quality A3 paper. Head over to the store where you can pick up several Notts County theme prints of current players! Get on it quick and you could even grab yourself one of the signed ones, while stocks last!

  24. All the opinions over Dan Jones and Cedric Evina could be different if Notts was in form and winning, Jones won people over at the end of last season and many of the same people change their opinions like a yoyo. I don't think there is much that can be done in the next transfer window. I really can't see much movement and I would dread to think if the clubs forced to sell someone like Kane Hemmings or Kristian Dennis in order to fix something that should be resolved with training. I don't think the players fitness are good or at an acceptable level, Harry Kewell blamed Kevin Nolan but I think it's a case of inexperience.

  25. i think some of the pundits can be extremely negative and bitter. just look at john thompson when he does the radio, anyone would think he always played well and gave his all. hes so boring and negative with a very limited opinion that i wished he would f off somewhere else.

  26. Jamie Turley, he's been outstanding at the back. Finally Notts has a player that won't give up and deals with the physical players in League Two.

  27. no, the squad lost the fire and fight to even give mansfield a game beyond 30 minutes. i think neal ardley has a difficult task on his hands and unless they get their fitness up and tactical awareness i think notts will struggle to avoid relegation.
