In preparation I thought I would just get everybody's opinion about the upcoming Macclesfield game but I think this is the biggest game of the year by far. Forget the Mansfield game we are in a relegation dogfight and we have to get three points at home. We beat them away from home but this is our 6 pointer. Macclesfield have picked up some recent form under Sol Campbell and it's worrying me. If we don't create a gap between us and Macc then we could get left behind. A few teams above us still within reaching distance, the likes of Yeovil, Cambridge, Cheltenham. If we don't pick up 3 points we could consider ourselves down.

Notts County will spend Christmas in the bottom two of League Two following their 4-0 hammering at Grimsby Town. The Mariners got off the mark after just over the three-minute mark, youngster Harry Clifton heading home on the rebound from Harry Cardwell's initial effort Notts then did enjoy a period of pressure but spurned their opportunities and before the break they fell further behind through Harry Davis, who rose highest to head home. Michael Jolley's side never looked back as Davis claimed his second and Grimsby's third, while Wes Thomas fired home on the volley to truly ruin the Black & White Army's Christmas. ARLukomski, the ever-loyal and long-suffering Notts County vlogger, has provided us with a great insight into the game at Blundell Park. I attended and there is NOTHING absolutely NOTHING positive not even the support which was poor as a select few had given up on their team after 65 minutes chanting "We're going down ... We're going down". Not to mention Ross was verbally abused face to face while a ball was being collected. I understand it's an emotional game and tempers flare but come on , you're just setting the lad up to fail for the next 30 minutes because some fan can't keep their trap shut.

Woeful performance but the game was finished at 2-0, some of the Notts fans turning on the players don't get the word support but the majority continued to back them. I get it, this season is awful but those in question need to take a strong look at themselves.

Just on the note of this, Leeds 2-0 down for the majority of the game today and come back away from home in an actual hostile environment at Villa Park and WIN 3-2! WHY CAN'T WE DO THAT. Like @ARLukomski said there is a losing mentality and no one can be arsed after 2-0 down because they give up.

I listened the other day but forgot to comment, the PONcast is good lads. I do enjoy the previews and neither of you will be always right but what you say is fair and entertaining.

The goals were absolutely farcical - Fitz getting beaten in the air, the corner where two of their players were left in acres of space to nod in, the fourth when Jamie Turley just stood and watched. Really embarrassing stuff. I'm not usually inclined towards demanding that the chairman gets his cheque book out, especially as the back four that was good enough to get us in the play-offs is still at the club. But right now it would be a massive risk to just rely on them. We are on course to concede 98 league goals this season. That would be a club record! If the new manager doesn't get the defence sorted, we will go down.

I actually don't know. This has been a big problem every year at the club, no matter the owner or manager. When we are away from home, we look scared. We look petrified. We are so worried about conceding. It shouldn't be ridiculously difficult to perform at an away game. Like come on. Grimsby, Bury, Newport, MK, Vale, Morecambe, Exeter. They're not places you go to and think "Crikey, the home fans are going to create a hostile atmosphere." We're not going to play Millwall every week but it seems the players think that we are. I've said for a bit now but there is a losing mentality at the club. So when things go wrong, we just give up when other clubs would fight and battle their way out of a bad patch. Look at Swindon when they came to Meadow Lane under Phil Brown this season. They were in bad form, but they battled and fought and won.

losing would be a major negative but notts seems to play better at home, meadow lane encourages the players and i feel better about the chances. its a must win game, losing could only make things harder but a win could boost the squad. the performance has to be right, yet i am curious how people think notts can improve the away form. but yes, the macclesfield game with the appointment of sol campbell seems to be one of those games which are a lot bigger than the rest.

I wonder if his policy will change at all after the thrashing Grimsby Town have given us today. It shows there is much more work to be done.

I don't know to be fair Leadership is one thing he has in abundance and that will help, however his arrogance is one thing that could let him down. He must make it about the club and trying to help them and not all about himself

Must admit that I thought he would last until the summer to be outed. You can't keep slating your players expecting them to respond with a performance, it is more that they definitely won't play for you. They need to get a footballing manager in now as they do have the forwards to play decent attacking football, but have been stifled by negative tactics and poor signings these last few years. A forward line of Matial, Rashford and Lukaku is decent and with Pogba and Lingard behind them should be capable of producing decent football for whoever temporarily comes in. Back four is still very weak though. Interesting to see who they have in mind as they have been quick to rule out Wenger.

I hope that translates to "I know my targets and what positions need improving."
