  1. I was almost tempted to go with 'EverybodyHatesChris' after the sitcom but it was too long. I'll have you know Chris is a very creative name, where else would I get my creativity from? It's not @super_ram for sure.

  4. Your too kind Julie, hopefully I can focus on producing some interesting blogs and get this section back to how it was. Though I felt the username change would be a step in the right direction, watch people call me Joe for the sake of it now. Hopefully I can find time to guest write and stuff also.
  5. It's your turn to come out of the username closet next. Beep beep
  6. I hate to argue, so I will simply say it fails to nature English talent. There's nothing wrong with the loan system, as this embeds players into a team which is more constructive compared to featuring alongside other emerging players. You can gain actual experience which is 'useful'. The fact Premier League teams don't want to part take only highlights how bad it is as an idea. Fundamentally this should be seen as nothing more than a 'quick fix' and people should really keep voting with their feet, it needs scrapping because it's a dangerous cocktail of stupidity and I for one will never be in favour of it.
  7. There was a time when I was encouraged to write personal blogs, yet new faces on the website never seemed to appreciate them – however with the minor change to my username I aim to mix things up. It’s a common recurrence that I get the urge to drop my ‘Notts-Joe’ persona, yet for one reason or another I just never did until now. I thought that it might confuse some members who don’t know me in person, yet it’s an never ending escape unless you apply the change and really, why would I want to continue calling myself by it? The little things seemed to mostly discourage me - I wasn’t keen on saying good bye to my old Twitter account, since some dearly lost friends are on it. Yet I have grown very tired of the username, along with the questions I frequently get about why I call myself it. It’s no mystery, it’s a nickname and it’s one which had been given to me at school (mostly due to a wrestler I liked). With the change having been made elsewhere for a number of months now, I felt it was time. Funnily enough my parents, who are a great support to the site(s) I run and the things I aim to do – have never been bothered by the fact I never used my birth name. So from here on, I am simply Chris.
  8. I'm looking forward to this game, Meadow Lane should be quite lively for it and I can see us winning. Colchester are a funny team, though as usual if we play our passing game - I see no reason as to why we couldn't score two to three goals. I just hope its entertaining, our crowd deserves that and I hope to see early signs of no nerves. I'd like to see Adam Campbell given a chance to prove himself, if we don't soon - it will be hard to see how we can retain him.
  9. I think most fans across the English leagues will wish clubs like Orient well, this type of thing shouldn't happen and it further shows just how unfit the approval system is for takeovers. I am sure they will be fine in the end. Portsmouth survived and I can easily see Orient becoming another fan owned team.
  10. The players have their focus, it's something which comes across from Kevin Nolan - again this message is more about keeping people routed to the ground. At this stage I think KN is being more careful about our overturn in form than anything. Things continue as they are for me.
  11. He ma be, I'm not. Despite people who I have spoken to and some of here saying he was useful, I didn't rate him and the qualities he brought to the club wasn't that impressive. If we want to hold the ball up and give us a target, just stick Alan Smith up top - that's about the same offering to Oliver. We needed someone with a bit more class, someone far more direct and of course with the ability to score. I'm glad we didn't extend his stay, perhaps one of the most pointless signings of this season.

  14. Very solid win but I'm hearing mixed reports. Did Notts play solid? Or was Wycombe poor? From the majority of opinions I've heard and read we deserved the victory buy it seems we may have been under pressure for a fair bit of the game. Just trying to see if anyone in attendance can shed more light. I'm very happy with the win, it's a great achievement all round and further signs if a promising season next term (despite Nolan trying to play things down). Great victory!
  15. Just a simple message to keep people routed, nothing more. He's doing well, as are our lads. Just take each game as they go but we should be fine.
  16. I don't expect him to return, we would have seen Nolan test him out between the sticks - especially when Collin was poor prior to his arrival and for spells during it. Most fans will probably assume the same, so I think it's more about how Collin does than Loach. Regardless, I still think we need a new No.1 next season but I would prefer to Have Scott Loach as our backup than Adam Collin. Nothing personal, I just don't think he has much more about him to improve on and this makes me feel we need a keeper who can help 'lift' us. I wonder how many would like Roy Carroll back?
  17. I do feel this will be one of those games whereby by both teams forms really dampen the pace of the game. Provided we don't overload the defence to compensate any weakness we may have there, we should be fine going forward. We just need to mix things up, don't attack solely down a single route - use the flanks and the centre of the park. We have a lot more pace and dynamics about us than we did the last time we met at Meadow Lane, so we should be better off for that. I do think the game will probably end up hoofball central but Notts must adapt to this. The game will probably quite close, so I think 1-1 sounds about right. If we defend well and Collin does what he's paid to do - we may be able to grab the win. It's funny how our away form has gone downhill but at home it's greatly improved.
  18. It would help in our department re: football in the air if Notts actually tried to keep it on the ground. We aren't one of those sides can master the long ball or ping pong style game, in fact we struggle and many opposition teams used this against us at Meadow Lane this season. Academy football will always be a 'learning system' rather than competitive or physical. Though I know full well that some players would thrown up joining a side beneath the Championship basically because they're already earning a good salary and therefore pampered. More should consider trying their hands at League One or Two, though that said a club has more decision with regards to where their youngsters are shipped out on loan. Perhaps these clubs should consider more wisely where youths learn the game? It's hard to argue with then.
  19. Budget means little but it's pleasing to see. We need to recruit the right players and get a mix of young/experienced players, hopefully we can get the basics right which would allow for the quality to come in with the budget. And there's nothing wrong with 'free transfers' when their value is weighed up properly, however it would be nice to spend a little if we can recruiting players from the teams around us for a reasonable fee. If a team wants to retain their key players, they're usually the type any club would want to have a round. We need the Gary Liddle/Alan Judge type characters.
  20. Unsure what to make of this game, obviously we need the points and I think we can go there quite confident. The question will be which Notts County will appear for Kevin Nolan and will they be able to bypass the match officials? I think this will be one by a single goal, yet at this stage I think the winner could be either side. I'd like to Jon Stead back in the team starting (if he's fit).
  21. I'm a little nervous to be honest about all the praise, don't get me wrong but one of two things is always likely to happen. The form will continue and we end up losing the best manager we have had potentially for a number of years or it will simply demise. Realistically how long can either scenario's last? As I say I'm not saying this to be negative but it is a concern, whatever happens will ultimately be the one we have to face but I would hope during this period we can have some success on the pitch and/or return to a stable club (which hasn't been the case for a number of decades).
