  1. I watched the highlights in channel 5 yesterday, Jesus did Laign seem possessed! His surging run wasn't that of a defender! Why can't many of our actual players try this much?
  2. Good result today, after going 1-0 down I didn't think we would get back level, never mind won the actual game. Now we have three points, all must go towards achieving a home win - hopefully this will lift the squad and encourage better.
  3. Hartlepool United have some real gems within their squad, which the majority of Notts fans would have seen last season - as their midfield have the ability to change any game. They've started the season off well, currently sitting 7th with 5 points from 3 games. Majority will most likely write them off, as it seems even the media go this far but they've got more than a decent midfield. Their squad know how to play together and last term, at least for me their problems was found within their defence and goalkeeper (who is good but he lost his head more times than he didn't). I don't see this being 'easy' for us, if we go into this game thinking we will wipe the floor with them - I guarantee it won't be. I see a draw or another loss, my head says 2-2 but I could easily see them scoring a 3rd. Which Notts players would you select for the game? Score predictions? Thoughts?
  4. Bad result, two defeats and a draw doesn't get the fans excited and morale within the whole camp is quite down. As I've been saying, the first win will be massive and we should keep in mind that it is early days. I do worry what happens if we get to the 7th game and the record is like 5 defeats + 2 draws. How do we as a club progress from that but Louis Laing's signing should boost morale at the back. Perhaps time to give Loach a try.
  5. There's a rumour about a Forest defender coming, I really wonder if a certain place is playing on that and have decided to spin it to Laing? I can't see him coming. It's a bit of a far step from the Scottish Premier League to League Two. Even if this was a loan.
  6. Thanks for featuring @NewarkPie and @TheFostarr94, plus Melvin and Nat! You Pies!!
  7. Notts County's first home game of the 2016-17 League Two season saw John Sheridan's side take on Darren Sarll's Stevenage FC at Meadow Lane. The game was mostly uneventful, as the Magpies conceded fairly early onto the game with an horrific defensive mistake, which saw Notts pegged back to 1-0 - until striker Jon Stead struck before the end of the first half making it 1-1. Pride of Nottingham spoke to a number of fans before the game and asked them a number of questions, including whether they were looking forward to the end of the season. -- Pride of Nottingham's Notts-Joe took to asking several questions ahead of the Magpies' first home game against Stevenage FC on the 13/08/2016 - be sure to help spread the word by commenting and sharing the video. 10. Nothing wrong with his pledge, but please can we be one unit and together in everything that the squad does? Also, I'm one of them would love to see us being more defensive (since already we seem quite weak).
  11. This should have been done pre-season, select the best squad and stick with 'em! Messing around could cost us further games, please avoid experimenting and just expect better from the players. Yesterday's result shouldn't send anyone into panic, the above idea perhaps might though.
  12. Let's not tempt fate, just work hard and the rest should come. Mid-table/anywhere above will do me fine, stability is the key and a manager being retained for more than a few months.
  13. I can recall my brother going on about Jon Stead signing for Blackburn (he likes them), I said then he was overrated and now look where he is - it never really worked out for him until he moved down. He looked decent but never a Premier League player in my opinion. He's almost certain to score now.
  14. @TheFostarr94, @ohstanleyaborah, @NewarkPie - could these squad numbers reveal anything? I find it difficult to believe that John Sheridan would swap a player from an higher to a lower one, if the player didn't fit in his plans. Wouldn't you just push them further up? I'm surprised Smith has remained the number. 4 shirt - I hope he focuses more on coaching rather than playing. Burke could very well be one of the players but I would be disappointed if he was to be left go myself.
  15. I feel sorry for Hollis, he tries and gives 100% but sometimes (perhaps more frequent) it just isn't enough. It sounded like he played well against Walsall and Forest - good luck to him.
  16. It makes sense, yet its probably going to be players who haven't featured much in friendlies and that makes me wonder if we can really afford to let 'em go but obviously this is just speculation. Hopefully those who do go, we will all be in agreement and not regret releasing talent who could feature.
  17. Many people said this to me @magpiejue. For me if we are playing better for more than 20 minutes or one single half, it's progress but really we need to see the defence come together and sort out the lapses we seem to have. It might be earlier under John Sheridan's reign as manager (which hopefully we be a long one) but sorting the back out would ease pressure. Though I can't say I'm worried, certainly not anywhere near some of the post reactions after Carlton or Alfreton Town.
  18. @TheFostarr94 has already mentioned this after speaking with him, so I assume its safe to say they are most likely talking now - I don't much about him but I hope we sign another quality CB.
  19. Yes, but please don't repeat otherwise we'll feel even more disappointment. That said - I am sure if people pull together (and not those who frequently get blamed) we can have a successful season. It's not always the players fault, yet I would love to see them keen to do well and work hard to ensure it happens.
  20. I think there's still room for a little improvement here, so hopefully we can snap up another striker. But the Forest friendly highlighted that we have desire, passion and fight amongst this John Sheridan squad. Lets hope they all unleash hell on League two and we have a good run this year.
  21. I, plus a host of fans talked about this often - he can defend but he needs players around him to do it. I do feel he's better off more advanced, so hopefully we see another one of my wish list ticked off - lets get a general defensive midfielder who will let the opposition know he's there without doing a Liam Noble.
  22. Its called 4-4-2, no need to be fancy or 'modern'. Just play it simple and switch as and when its required. Fingers crossed we don't stray to one striker because if anything, all of our friendlies have proven we require fire power and one striker will always be a lack in that regards.
  23. Absolute legend, no questions asked and fully deserved the big game.
  24. Its funny seeing how he changed from being the Notts manager to now the England national manager. I had seen the clips the BBC shared socially it took me back to when my grandfather was alive and a more happier time. If only he had managed to stay, yet I don't blame him for going to Bolton. Good luck to him and I hope he brings back the PRIDE we desire for the Three Lions.
