  1. JS is saying all the right things and speaking very well, I would hope that this type of attitude will rub off onto his players - yet its looking pretty good. We just need to ensure we start the season well, pre-season doesn't matter - get the fitness up and players match sharp. Sign a couple more players, then let's see how it goes. COYP!
  2. Honestly, I am not sure. I think Stead is a brilliant player, one who works hard and gives 100% but I'm not sure he should be our main focus upfront - with that in mind I don't expect fire works from him but steady performances. If he can score more than 10 goals, brilliant but I do believe he will be limited. Provided we have four or more options upfront, regardless it wouldn't be a concern. Things are progressing nicely.
  3. It'll be the big friendlies which will reveal more, as will if he can remain consistent but we all know players can lose their focus once a contract is signed - I must add however, Will appears to have a great attitude. I like his attitude surrounding 'working hard' and 'keeping focused on goals'. Plus having watched a few videos of his, he seems fast and very skilful. Time will tell his worth but its looking promising.
  4. He deserves a send off from our fans that can make the game, though I do think the clash with Splendor could have been avoided - yet most likely this will be one of the only dates Forest are available I assume. Not much that can be done bar those who can go, trying to make the most of it. Take your red friends or football fans in general, it will be a good day for both Nottingham(shire) clubs.
  5. On the back of three very disappointing campaigns in a row as a Notts County fan, I find myself aligned with new hope and prospect for the new season – however, I must admit I didn’t believe I would be at this stage. 2015-16 was a year the majority of fans will no doubt want to forget and it’s all for the right (or should that be wrong) reasons. The broken ambition and desire shown really tugged at the heartstrings of many genuine supporters I know, and it was difficult at times to consolidate the raw emotion that was often expressed to me – especially towards the back end of the season. It really was a bleak disappointing term for the Black & White Army, which I really do not need to remind anyone of. However, as I write this, I can quite easily cast aside that bitter disappointment in hopes that things may finally improve on and off the field. Like most, supporting a team that has fought most of their years in the lower tiers of English football – you find yourself clinging to the hopes that the club may actually be a ‘sleeping giant’. And I renewed my season ticket without a second thought, but I do not question those who have not done this because a football club must appreciate its fans and understand that the money paid in is that of hard work and passion. It’s not a simple case of not supporting the club, but simply case of value. I hope this season is different, yet as I wrote earlier, I am excited – I think John Sheridan has put a lot of time in accessing the players in which the club have clearly been tracking and it’s not like Notts to sign the majority of players who have been linked to them. Michael O’Connor, the most recent signing, is an excellent addition to the squad, along with his former Port Vale teammates Carl Dickinson and Richard Duffy. I am also happy with the arrival of Adam Collin, who I hope manages to establish himself as our number one goalkeeper. I don’t think I’m alone in being optimistic, numerous fans have been expressing it – and I hope that the stability we so desperately crave is found this year. Between now and the start of the new season, I want to see Sheridan establish his best XI – it’s important for me he avoids making the mistake that Ricardo Moniz probably regrets. No doubt we will attempt to mix things up, but our new manager must form the chemistry required. The squad doesn’t look that far from being finished, unless we see some other players depart but I do still have hopes for a defensive midfielder and a striker – a goal scorer will not grow on trees but it’s vital we sign someone to go up top. Jon Stead and Izale McLeod for me don’t seem to be the answer, at least together, and I do hope we are consistent with featuring two strikers. Those who watch European football/the Premier League may disagree but I would say as a minimum in League Two you start all home games with two and only revert to the lone striker against the more difficult opposition. What’s next for the Magpies? Nobody can be sure, however pre-season isn’t that far away now. Football is almost upon us again and it’s time for us as fans to unite together and create an atmosphere we can be proud of – what other clubs/people think, it doesn’t matter, but for our own future we must try. 6. For once it's the reason to join, not to sign elsewhere - I like that.
  7. Hard working player, exactly the type of player we have lacked previous seasons - I hope he manages to prove himself here. We should have a good player who can aid is in any attempts of gaining promotion. Striker next please.
  8. Well fans felt the same after Rodwell left, and I'm not sure Branston was the villain we all believed but that said I don't feel he was the right person to lead such an important position at the club.
  9. Like @Tom Walters I am hopeful that we can build the right squad this season, one with different types of players and whom compliment each other - I felt last season, at the start this had been achieved but we lacked the grit that people who knows League Two players offer. Fingers crossed Sheridan is the man running things on the field and those behind the scenes handle the day-to-day operation, which includes avoiding fallouts between fans/players. This season is about how we move forward from the last term, so lets do it right.
  10. Wages or attitude? What does anyone want to bet on being the reason? Hopefully the Post are wrong, as he's a good player and could do wonders here but if the claim is spot on - hopefully Sheridan can identify players who will appeal to the fans and work hard on the pitch. COYP!
  11. I can't really comment, his age being 29 makes you wonder (especially the lack of pedigree) but I trust Sheridan to enquire the right players needed.
  12. Very happy, I hope to see a CB/striker arrive soon. John Sheridan can hopefully attract more quality to the squad, with some tough lower league additions to give us that bulk we lacked last season.
  13. I think it encourages people to opt to going to both games rather than one, I'm personally not put off by the price.
  14. Interesting to see, but still a little disappointed about us dropping out of the reserve league especially after doing so well. It's important to be playing teams at your level and regularly, we see how important it is at youth level and it's the same for the reserves. The indication of a players level would be harder, the example would be Branston signing Sharpe based on what appeared to be one game.
  15. Fingers crossed we can gain promotion. Good luck Liam Noble.
  16. Well, considering he will be the first manager to properly have his own assistant since Derry - it speaks volumes. I felt Kevan and Moniz would work, as I have the utmost respect for Dave who is a lower league gem but he was rumoured to dislike 'Ricardo's my way or the highway' style approach and it makes you realise how important the second man is. I felt strongly that Jamie Fullarton should have been appointed with a strong assistant, someone who would have helped him during the obvious struggles his appointment would have presented. Cooper really didn't need Dryden's help in my opinion but a settled duo could have reaped it's own rewards in the long run. So I am pleased that Sheridan has his own coaching staff, hopefully we will see it make a significant impact on field.
  17. I can't say I'm fussed either way, good player but one who could be replaced without losing sleep. His attitude and desire are a big thing however, so those qualities would be missed - there's no doubt he is one of those players who resonate well with any club but personally, if he goes or stays it makes little difference to me.
  18. I think his mission should personally be to bring stability and remain at the helm of manager for his whole contract duration (but that sounds less exciting and probably wouldn't motivate as many fans) but as an whole, he's staying the right things and ticking the right boxes. The more I speak to people, the more I feel he can be the person to deliver the stability we require. Would love to see Notts storm the league but I will take things if and when they come. COYP!
  19. I still hold my reserved opinion on him, however like @ohstanleyaborah has said inside the forum he's possibly the best candidate we had on paper. I'm not sure about the Danish U21 manager who had been linked with us? He's got experience for sure but it's not a shout out situation. Good luck to him.
  20. The list largely makes sense for the right reasons - there are a couple of surprises, no major shocks but this said I am pleased Blair Adams is no longer a Notts player. He just never did anything, plus he always managed to find his way into the selection, I just hope for better next time.
  21. I don't see Martin Allen returning, I'll keep saying this but I'd love to see him back at Meadow Lane. I think Notts know just how much someone like him could win over fans again, plus he knows League Two well. Paul Hurst is okay, out of a bad bunch - he does stand out for the right reasons.
  22. Sorry, it wasn't 'uncertainty'. At least in my opinion, Mansfield was a soul destroyer and I'm sure certain things didn't help but really people should admit the side just wasn't pulling together or playing to the best standard that they could. Majority of professionals can work under difficult circumstances, people who know they're about to lose their jobs for example. Only a handful of players wanted to turn the season around, lack of desire and passion meant it became intangible.
  23. *Sigh of relief (good one for once). I didn't fancy either of these, Notts must make a strong decision and appoint someone who can help us forget about this past season - regardless of who the owner may or may not be. @Spie you would be lucky! COYP
  24. I hope we go for experience and not a chance, any risk towards someone who may not be able to change the circumstances - well, it would create negativity we don't need. Appoint a sensible manager, one who's got a worthy record and track history for this division. Ideally someone who can take the reigns for a few years, bring stability and can manager above League Two.
  25. Notts County's last game of the 2015-16 League Two season saw Mark Cooper's side take on Keith Curle's Carlisle United at Meadow Lane. As it turned out, the Magpies did not have a good game, falling to a 5-0 defeat which was followed by Cooper leaving the club for pastures new. Pride of Nottingham spoke to a number of fans before the game and asked them a number of questions, including whether they were looking forward to the end of the season. -- Pride of Nottingham's Notts-Joe and Joe Jones prior to the Cambridge United game on the 23/04/2016 took to asking Magpie' fans key questions.
