  1. Ricky Villa who used to play for Spurs. Won the World Cup with Argentina in 1978. Scored a wonder goal in the 1981 FA Cup Final replay vs Man City. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BT7IvpxhA3Q Reminds me of a trivia question...... Sunderland did it in 1979 and Villa in 1981. Who did it in 1980?
  2. Notice that there are no other photographers near Dan. They are afraid of what may happen them given Dan's history! I hope he gave that bib back.....
  3. Justice for the 96........We'll never forget......
  4. Wow. I'm happy. My first double digit performance. It's the exception rather than the rule though. Normal service will be resumed next week....
  5. AFC Bournemouth v Birmingham City 2-1 Doncaster Rovers v Leeds United 1-2 Bradford City v Leyton Orient 1-1 Sheffield United v Swindon Town 2-1 Oxford United v Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 Rochdale v Fleetwood Town 1-2
  6. FIFA run a prediction competition. A bit of fun. Nothing too serious.
  7. Here's the link for the whole draw: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/index.html It's always fun to fill out the wall chart before the tournament and see how you did when it ends. Maybe we can have a prediction competition for the WC?
  8. Brighton & Hove Albion v Leicester City 0-1 Millwall v Wigan Athletic 1-1 Queens Park Rangers v Blackburn Rovers 2-0 Bristol Rovers v Crawley Town 1-2 Hartlepool United v Coventry City 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers v Preston North End 0-2
  9. Chile are as good as at home so it would be best to avoid them IMO. The US would be well motivated playing against England. The same goes for Australia. England should be in the last 16 and barring a disaster, I think they will be.
  10. Michael Keane is a decent loan signing from Manchester Utd. He's highly rated. Will he break into the team? Ye have been playing very well so I'd imagine it will be difficult for him?
  11. The countries have been divided into 4 pots. England are in pot 4. IMO, the best group for them is: Switzerland Algeria Costa Rica The worst would be: Brazil Chile USA
  12. Huddersfield 1-2 Burnley Watford 3-0 Yeovil Peterborough 1-1 Wolves Walsall 2-1 Port Vale Dagenham 2-1 Wycombe Northampton 2-1 Accrington
  13. Here's my neutral opinion. If England don't score first, then England don't win. England are easy to defend against. They are predictable. England find it hard to win back possession and when they do, they give it straight back to the opposition. England have little chance of winning the WC unless there's a radical change.
  14. Ipswich Town v Leicester City 1-1 Leeds United v Middlesbrough 2-1 Milton Keynes Dons v Bradford City 2-0 Wolves v Brentford 2-1 Cheltenham Town v Newport County 2-1 Oxford United v Morecambe 2-1
  15. Mexico and Uruguay complete the lineup for Brazil 2014. Next up is the World Cup draw on December 8th.
  16. Ghana and Algeria book their place in Brazil. Portugal are through after a fantastic win in Sweden. Ronaldo with a hat trick. 4-2 on agg. Croatia beat Iceland to qualify. They managed to win 2-0 despite being down to 10 men from the 38th min onwards. Greece strolled through by beating Romania. France completed a comeback that was never done before. They overturned a 2-0 first leg deficit and won 3-0 in Paris. Mexico and Uruguay will complete the 32 today, unless there are miracle comebacks in both games.
  17. Nigeria are unpredictable. I watched them in the Confederations Cup and I wasn't that impressed. They do have some talented players though. They will be difficult group opponents.
  18. Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Nigeria booked their place in Brazil. Portugal hold a slender 1-0 nil lead. The second leg in Stockholm should be fascinating. Ukraine go to Paris with a 2-0 lead. The French didn't like Ukraine's robust approach. The French surrendering.....where have I heard that before! Croatia head back to Zagreb with a 0-0 draw. Iceland were down to 10 men for 40 mins but the Croats didn't take advantage. Greece go to Bucharest with a 3-1 lead.
  19. This should be a cracker. Chile play open, attacking football and don't defend very well. They will attack all night, but there will be gaps in their defence. I reckon England will win 3-1.
  20. Leyton Orient v Preston North End 2-1 Port Vale v Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Tranmere Rovers v Bristol City 1-2 AFC Wimbledon v Portsmouth 1-1 Exeter City v Southend United 2-1 Mansfield Town v Oxford United 1-1
  21. European playoffs are on Friday and Tuesday. African 2nd legs are on Sunday and Tuesday. That's it then. World Cup draw in December.
  22. I'll always associate Derby with the Baseball Ground........
  23. The 2 intercontinental first leg ties were played yesterday. Jordan 0-5 Uruguay As expected Uruguay were much too strong for Jordan. The only surprise was Luis Suarez not being among the goalscorers. Cavani ran the show for Uruguay. He's one to watch out for in Brazil. Uruguay are a dark horse and could go far. Mexico 5-1 New Zealand Mexico had been poor up to now, but that all changed yesterday. Their coach is actually only in charge for the playoff. He took the surprising decision to use only Mexican based players for the playoff. So no Javier Hernandez for example. The risk paid off in spades but it raises another question. Do Mexico stick with the players who got them to Brazil or bring back players like Hernandez, Dos Santos etc? If they want to do well, they have to include their foreign based players IMO. They won't be meeting NZ in the WC, they will be meeting the likes of Brazil, Germany, Spain etc..
  24. It's sad that there are no obvious candidates for the captaincy role. Bart maybe? I still chuckle when I see Bish playing for Blackpool as there was a section of our support that thought he wasn't up to League 1 level any longer.
  25. Happy to have Freeman back. A player with the right attitude and that's exactly what we need right now.
