  1. This discussion certainly provides a fresh perspective, and @ARLukomski’s post is both excellent and detailed. For what it’s worth, I agree that the contracts given at the start of the season made sense. In a different scenario, some of these players would be proving that it was a smart decision. Unfortunately, this season has fallen apart, leaving many questions unanswered. I don’t think we have a bad squad. It’s our game management and lack of focus that let us down. It’s not fair to blame Stuart Maynard for all of this. These issues existed before, but I wouldn’t single out recruitment, although it could have been better. These things are always easier to understand in hindsight than to predict at the outset. If Matt Palmer hadn’t been injured, we might have shown more grit in midfield. His calm influence and eagerness to move the ball forward are greatly missed, as is his knack for quietly winning the ball back. There aren’t many players in our current starting lineup who press enough to win the ball. We must learn and adapt from this season if we are to become stronger.
  2. I would always urge people to sign up and participate. If you appreciate thoughtful debates and a platform that doesn’t permit unwarranted behaviour, then this is an excellent site. Regrettably, I’m not active on Twitter. I merely read it, and even then, the restrictions make it challenging. I won’t set up an account just to read people’s opinions.
  3. Just saw the update about @Piethagoram and I couldn't just scroll by without leaving a word of encouragement. It's a tough journey, but you're not alone. This forum, although virtual, has a real sense of camaraderie and affection. Pulling for you, mate. Looking forward to your comeback, stronger and healthier!
  4. It’s an interesting idea, and it’s good to see Notts trying new things. It’s a bit of a distraction from the team’s current form, but it could be positive in the long run. Maybe Les could start a dating event at the club too? What’s coming up next, a Notts County singles club? The Lonely Magpies Heart Club?
  5. The club can’t just ban everyone for having a negative or silly opinion. Every club has such fans, and we do live in a free country after all. It’s not like the club rules over us; it’s the other way around. Sure, there might be a few who deserve a ban and maybe should be made to watch Nottingham Forest instead, but those people aren’t Leigh Curtis. And no one at the club is going to pull a Ray Trew and ban someone just for disagreeing with them. Those days are over! Can you imagine a more authoritarian move in football? Winning is crucial to change the mood, especially for Stuart Maynard. Some fans might need to manage their expectations, but winning games and maintaining a strong bond is key. The club hasn’t done enough to keep this connection alive. There’s plenty of talk at first, but then silence when problems arise. We don’t hear from the players after a loss, only when they win, which shows a lack of trust in the fans who want to hear from them. It’s a missed opportunity, in my opinion. It’s okay to protect the club’s image sometimes, but doing it all the time is not a good look.
  6. The ability to excel in multiple roles is a testament to the skills and mindset of a player like Sam Austin. His grasp of the game and readiness to adjust for the good of the team are precisely what’s needed in this vital playoff chase. His professional attitude, coupled with his appreciation for the fans, truly sets him apart. In a sport where personal achievements often eclipse team efforts, Austin’s team-centric approach is a breath of fresh air.
  7. I’m grateful for PON too, it’s usually my go-to when I see some of the brilliant content that’s shared on the site. It’s got me curious, my moustache is practically jumping off my face with excitement. Most of my online activity is reading the news, I don’t really participate in other discussion forums. I seldom use social media, I definitely don’t spend time on Twitter. So, what are some of your other favourite websites? I enjoy checking BBC News and Sports, CNET, Android Authority to name a few. How about you?
  8. Amid concerns about physical and mental fatigue due to the packed schedule, Maynard’s focus on maintaining confidence within the squad is critical. His strategic emphasis on preparation, adaptability, and resilience underlines a comprehensive plan to tackle the forthcoming challenges. This kind of forward-thinking will undoubtedly rally the fans and players alike.
  9. It seems like a sensible plan. With more gates and fans, it should help make other areas more suitable for catching up with friends without them being too crowded. I also agree with the remarks about ensuring the space can be used on non-match days, as this would make it more valuable.
  10. Will they give the go-ahead to Great Uncle Bulgaria? Tomsk could be a problem if given the opportunity. AFC Wimbledon will be aiming to pull off the achievable against us. After the losses to Sutton United, we need to put in more effort to finish games and ensure we’re not losing points. I’m certain the fans present just want to see that fighting spirit, along with better performances. I’m not sure where the goals will land, but it should be a good, open match and one that Notts should be able to compete in properly.
  11. I can’t say I would have minded, I rarely use Facebook and it’s not a place where I would spend much time. I’ve seen many people complaining about problems just as much as on Twitter. Elon Musk might not be the only one spoiling what someone else created.
  12. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @ShannockPie. We're all glad to see that you have joined us.
  13. At this moment, I’m not thinking much about the playoffs because we’ve had some big setbacks. Through injuries, losing our manager and poor performances. Despite this, we’ve done well to be where we are and I firmly believe we would be higher without much of this. However, I don’t want to disappoint myself and therefore I’m preparing for us to finish outside just as a way of coping. If we finish in the playoffs, great but I don’t want to get excited until we know either way.
  14. Not handball, I don’t think there’s much of an argument to be made and I think the referee made the decision too quickly.
  15. Yes, but now that I see a rough estimate of the cost, I think it’s unlikely without a lot of investment from clubs and the EFL. Maybe we could start a fundraiser across football? Shave the brave! Bring Goal Line Technology to the English Football League.
  16. When you see people, Jatta is one who looks like a professional athlete and possibly a footballer. I hope he proves his worth here because we need more goals. When you look at our score, there aren’t enough goals. We should have a fair number over or at 5 goals. Many simply haven’t scored or are stuck at one. It would be great to see him bring his scoring boots.
  17. Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Norwich City Cardiff City 1-2 Stoke City Barnsley 0-1 Derby County Joker Blackpool 2-0 Bolton Wanderers Accrington Stanley 0-0 Crawley Town Barrow 0-2 Bradford City Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 Halifax Town Southend United 2-0 Aldershot
  18. His journey at Notts shows his resilience and adaptability. Coming from a challenging situation at Fleetwood Town, his transition into a crucial midfield role amidst managerial upheavals speaks volumes about his character and determination. His optimism and commitment to the team's approach, despite its challenges, could inspire any teammate or fan. It’s players like Scott Robertson who embody the spirit of the game, proving that with dedication and consistency, any obstacle can be turned into a stepping stone for success.
  19. It’s easy to underestimate the significant role online forums play in our lives and the impact of contributors who make it a place we enjoy visiting. I was deeply saddened when I heard about GP, as she seemed to be a delightful woman with a great sense of humour. My thoughts are with the PON family, not only the immediate members but everyone who has lost someone truly special.
  20. The article presents a balanced view on loan players, but I lean towards seeing more homegrown talents on the pitch. The success stories of loan players are tempting, but nothing beats seeing a young player from our academy breaking into the first team and staying there. It's about building a legacy and identity for Notts County, something that constantly rotating loan players can't provide. We need a long-term vision.
  21. Maynard's emphasis on the defensive aspect of the game and the squad's quick adaptation to tactical instructions is particularly encouraging. It shows a level of depth in the team's playstyle that could be vital in the league's long run. The confidence he expresses in handling pressure and focusing on positives is exactly what the fans and players need to hear. Looking ahead, the match against Crewe presents a significant challenge, but Maynard's tactical acknowledgment and optimism are infectious. Really looking forward to seeing how the team translates this preparation into performance on the pitch.
  22. It’s disheartening to see some Notts fans taking offence when asked to show respect. There’s a hint of selfishness in this behaviour, which I find unpleasant. I have no issue with people standing, as long as they don’t obstruct my view of the match. While it doesn’t often happen to me, fans should be considerate of others. The fact that the police need to issue a statement to remind people to think of other fans speaks volumes. So much for unity.
  23. The match against Wrexham was commendable, particularly considering it was an away game. I’m hopeful that we’ll display the same level of urgency in our upcoming matches, but with a sharper focus on goal-scoring. We need to create solid opportunities and put the Crewe goalkeeper under pressure to prevent us from scoring. On the defensive front, I believe we’ve made significant strides towards improving our concentration. I anticipate the game against Crewe to be fairly balanced.
  24. Notts must put in the effort and utilise their possession effectively. I don’t want us to depend solely on wide creativity. I’d like to see Notts exploit the space and perhaps take a few shots at goal when the chance arises. At times, players have ample space to attempt a goal, but choose to keep passing. We need to show more courage against Newport. Now is the time to secure a win, even if it means playing less attractively or not as well.
  25. I’m sceptical about the gossip being accurate. Supporters often spread fear when the performance isn’t up to par, and sometimes they can overstate things to suit their story.
