  1. I'm one episode in and there's nothing really new so far, but I did enjoy the account of how the club's then powers that be were received in Bahrain (they had someone pretending to be the king), not to mention the interview with Uncle Colin. It's certainly a punchy podcast for outsiders.

    What a crazy time it was, but thank god Ray Trew picked up the tab afterwards

  2. The results:

    Derby County 1-0 Peterborough United
    Stoke City 2-2 Birmingham City
    Cambridge United 2-0 Accrington Stanley
    Ipswich Town 3-0 Burton Albion
    Newport County 1-1 Mansfield Town
    Salford City P-P Crawley Town
    Altrincham P-P Weymouth
    Chesterfield 2-3 Solihull Moors

    Two postponements didn't help the scores this week, but our best performers were @Dripsey3, @ARLukomski and @jimbob!

    @Dripsey3, @ARLukomski, @jimbob - 6
    @DangerousSausage - 5

    @4everapie, @Megan_Elizax - 2
    @super_ram, @magpiejue - 1

    And on that bombshell, this is the table. I'm on 150 points because I'm awesome, and some of the rest of you got points too:

    Our next prediction league round is on Saturday, so expect the fixtures to magically appear sometime on Wednesday. Until then, get those crystal balls polished and have a good start to the week!

  3. I remember Derek Pavis saying he wanted to sell up in 1997, but as far as I can recall there weren't any serious takeover discussions (at least that were made public). And he got his mojo back during the championship-winning season that followed. Can't say I've ever heard of Kenny Cooper.

    Had a look on YouTube myself, but finding stuff on there is easier said than done! ;)

  4. You know what to do - gaze into your crystal ball or throw your rune sticks, and get your predictions in by 3pm on Saturday, and remember your jokers. Good luck! :)

    Derby County v Peterborough United

    Stoke City v Birmingham City

    Cambridge United v Accrington Stanley

    Ipswich Town v Burton Albion

    Newport County v Mansfield Town

    Salford City v Crawley Town

    Altrincham v Weymouth

    Chesterfield v Solihull Moors

  5. To me it sounds like there was a miscommunication at Dover's end, and now their chairman is trying to cover his backside. Shoddy disgrace of a club. Don't agree with the calls to expel them from the league though, they seem to be doing a good job of that themselves,.

  6. The results:

    Millwall 2-1 Cardiff City
    Nottingham Florist 2-2 Stoke City
    Cheltenham Town 2-0 Fleetwood Town
    Morecambe 1-1 Gillingham
    Barrow 0-0 Stevenage
    Sutton United 1-1 Forest Green Rovers
    Barnet 1-3 Wealdstone
    Eastleigh 0-0 Yeovil Town

    As we've been informed, @4everapie hit double figures this week and is our highest scorer - congrats! Many of the rest of us wasted our jokers on the red muck across the Trent, which serves us all right really.

    @4everapie - 10
    @super_ram - 8
    @nottsnutter - 7
    @DangerousSausage - 6

    @Dan, @barnet11uk - 4
    @Dripsey3, @ARLukomski - 3
    @gtownjohnno - 2
    @jimbob, @GrannyPie - 1

    This is what the table looks like...

    The next round is on Saturday, so fixtures will be posted on Wednesday as usual. Thanks for playing!

    A few big teams in that league; Werder Bremen, Hamburg, Schalke, Hannover, Düsseldorf.... and it's little old Darmstadt at no.1 😆

    That comment aged badly ;) but Bundesliga 2 is incredibly attractive this season, not to mention the promotion and relegation fights being wide open. It's quite the contrast to the snooze-fest that is the Bundesliga this season.

    For the uninitiated, it's a bit like having Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Liverpool and Everton all in the Championship and scrapping for promotion against Barnsley and Peterborough.

  8. The PON prediction league continues on 12 February. Will you run a celebratory lap like Sir Charlie, or will you find yourself looking on glumly like those Florist fans in the Kop that day? There's only one way to find out. Kick-off is 3pm on Saturday, and remember your jokers.

    Millwall v Cardiff City

    Nottingham Florist v Stoke City

    Cheltenham Town v Fleetwood Town

    Morecambe v Gillingham

    Barrow v Stevenage

    Sutton United v Forest Green Rovers

    Barnet v Wealdstone

    Eastleigh v Yeovil Town

  9. The results:

    Derby County 3-1 Hull City
    Stoke City 3-0 Swansea City
    Lincoln City 2-1 Morecambe
    Portsmouth 2-1 Burton Albion
    Harrogate Town 1-3 Crawley Town
    Northampton Town 1-0 Newport County
    Stockport County 2-2 Chesterfield
    Wealdstone 2-1 Yeovil Town

    Six home wins in our eight fixtures, but only one of us got close to double figures - step forwards @Dripsey3!

    @Dripsey3 - 9
    @gtownjohnno - 6
    @ARLukomski, @nottsnutter - 5
    @GrannyPie - 4
    @barnet11uk - 3
    @super_ram, @DangerousSausage, @Megan_Elizax - 2
    @Dan, @jimbob - 1

    With that result, @Dripsey3 has suddenly built a healthy lead in a matter of days - can he still be caught? And @gtownjohnno makes up a couple of places:

    Dripsey3 - 184
    Dan - 175
    super_ram - 157
    gtownjohnno - 146
    magpiejue - 145

    The fixtures for Saturday are online now - good luck!

  10. Sounded like an excellent evening, with the exception of the racist incident in the first half (which was thankfully dealt with well by all concerned). I make that 15 goals in three games against Barnet. They must be desperate to see the back of us :D

    But what's more important is that we kick on from here and put a run together, otherwise it'll count for very little. Time to step up.

  14. Well said. Since we've been in this league, I've missed the absolute ruthlessness you need to win a championship. We've taken the mindset that we're building for success. While this is laudable, it becomes all too easy to see success as a future goal rather than something we could be celebrating in May.

    2 hours ago, ARLukomski said:

    The club needs to look at itself and realise it's unacceptable to be "just hoping to get into the play-offs." Not being cocky or arrogant, but we are the biggest fish in this league and scraping into the play-offs isn't good enough.

    This is true, but with all the postponements this season it's been difficult to see where we actually stand. We've spent a fair portion of it between sixth and eighth, but with a points average very close to 2 points per game (championship-winning form), but games in hand. The trouble with games in hand is that if you lose them, you find yourself trying to scrape into the play-offs again. Just like last season.

    The solution? A kick up the backside and us winning all our remaining games, maybe?
