  1. It’s always sad to hear about a club like Partick Thistle struggling financially. Scottish football is such a different world to what we’re used to, but the challenges are similar, balancing the books while trying to be competitive. I can’t help but think that more should be done to ensure clubs stay afloat, like salary caps or better revenue sharing. Thistle has a loyal fanbase, and it’s the supporters who always feel the impact of poor financial decisions. As a Notts fan, I’ve seen how easily things can go wrong and how long it takes to recover. Hopefully, their board can find a way to turn things around without losing their league status or club identity.
  2. I thought Nick Tsaroulla played very well and is proving that he's settled in. It was a great performance from him, so my vote goes to him.
  3. Yesterday was a good display of how far Notts has come. We held onto the ball well, played with confidence, and didn’t let Harrogate frustrate us. Jatta’s goal was the result of the team’s hard work, as we kept at them until the breakthrough came. The last few minutes were a bit tense, but our defence held up nicely and didn’t give them any easy chances. If we keep this up, we’ll definitely make an impression this season. Great to see the fans showing strong support, too!
  4. Welcome to the site and community, PON is a good place to spend your time @Bren Shep.
  5. Stuart Maynard’s approach to management has brought a refreshing change to Notts. His adaptability and courage in making tough decisions have been evident. The emphasis on strong defensive play, combined with giving young talents a chance, is a strategy that can take the club far. The initial scepticism around his appointment has faded, thanks to the solid foundation he’s building. Like any good manager, he’s learning from past mistakes and implementing changes that benefit the team. Injuries are always a concern, and while they've affected us, Maynard’s handling of these challenges has been impressive. As we move ahead, the focus will be on maintaining momentum. With continued support from the fans and management, the sky’s the limit for Notts.
  6. The two home losses to Gillingham and Port Vale have been setbacks. Our performances since then haven't been great, but steady results show that we are a team capable of doing well at this level. Notts will need to dig deep on Saturday; this is a match we should win, and I believe we can do it with the right selection. I still think that bringing in a striker in January could give us a much-needed boost. I don't doubt Jatta or McGoldrick, but an additional option would help ease the pressure on our performances.
  7. Completely agree with Stuart Maynard’s assessment, it wasn’t the most attractive match to watch, but it’s great to see the lads come away with the win. AFC Wimbledon’s defensive shape was tough to break down, and it’s matches like these that show the importance of being clinical from set-pieces. Platt’s goal may have been scruffy, but they all count! I also thought our defence handled Wimbledon’s pressure really well. Bassi was immense, and I think Maynard’s spot on with how calm he keeps the team. It’s games like this that test your mental toughness, and Notts showed they’ve got plenty of it.
  8. Platt’s ability to get that goal from Palmer’s corner was exactly what the team needed. I think it’s a great sign when defenders can step up and make a difference in tight games like this. His goal might not have been the flashiest, but it showed real awareness and hunger. It’s also encouraging to see him aiming to add more goals to his game. Getting two goals so early in the season from a centre-half is brilliant and could be a huge asset as we push for more results. Defensively, he and the backline were solid, and that clean sheet speaks volumes after recent home games. Well-deserved win!
  9. I’m really glad to see Rod McDonald finally getting his chance to shine. It must have been tough watching from the sidelines, especially for a player with so much experience. Injuries can really derail a player’s momentum, but it seems like he’s handled it well and is eager to contribute. His praise for the rest of the defence, especially Louis Macari, shows how close-knit the squad is, which is great to hear. We’ve got some tricky fixtures coming up, so getting him fit and integrated now is really important. Let’s hope he hits the ground running and helps us shore up the backline. Clean sheet today, anyone?
  10. It’s good to see Notts handling Cedwyn’s situation with such care. Mental health issues are often swept under the rug in football, but Maynard and the club have made it clear that they are fully supporting Cedwyn Scott through this tough time. As fans, we sometimes forget the pressure these players are under, especially when injuries keep them off the pitch for extended periods. It’s great to hear that Cedwyn has found the strength to talk about his struggles, and hopefully, he’ll return to the pitch when he’s fully ready. Hats off to the club for treating this with the seriousness it deserves.
  11. Palmer’s comments about the changes in the squad hit the nail on the head. It’s never easy to integrate new players, and it does take time for everyone to get on the same page. But having someone like Matt, who’s been through it all and remains such a steady presence, is massive for the club. His leadership style, leading by example, works well, especially when there are so many new faces in the dressing room. We’ve started the season well, but as Matt says, there’s still a lot of room for improvement, which is exciting because we know the squad has even more to offer. I’m really optimistic about where we’re heading this season.
  12. It’s interesting to see how Maynard has evolved as a manager. He seems to have a clear vision for how he wants the team to play. His emphasis on working together and communicating on the pitch is essential. Players like Jatta thriving under his guidance shows how well the squad is responding to his tactics. I hope we can keep the winning momentum going, especially against tough opponents like Port Vale. It’s crucial for building confidence in the team.
  13. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Alassana Jatta performs in this one. Since returning from injury, he’s been superb, and his goal against Carlisle showed he’s got that natural scoring instinct. With Crowley behind him, I think we’ve got the creativity to break down Port Vale’s defence. Their unbeaten run is impressive, but I don’t see them as unbeatable, especially not at Meadow Lane. We just need to make sure we’re solid defensively because Stockley is a handful. If we keep him quiet and take our chances, this could be a great win to keep us pushing at the top.
  14. Port Vale will be a tough nut to crack, no doubt about that. They’ve got quality in their side, especially in midfield and their attack. I’m curious to see who starts for them, their starting 11 could be quite strong if the players are fit. The midfield battle will be key, and with Ben Garrity in their ranks, we’ll need to stay sharp. But I trust our lads. Crowley’s been fantastic for us, and if he gets the ball in the right areas, we should be able to create chances.
  15. It's intriguing to hear Steven's views on Port Vale's style. Our squad has been focusing on enhancing creativity and pace lately. I'm eager to see if these elements result in a proving victory.
  16. Looking at their line-up, I do feel we have an edge in certain areas. Our attacking intent needs continuation from previous matches. Tsaroulla's abilities on the flank, when on form, can create pressing issues for Vale's full-backs. Likewise, Gordon has looked good in recent games. The home crowd’s energy should feed into players’ performance, as they thrive on support. It's about playing smart and being clinical with opportunities.
  17. He’s got the experience gained from his time at Crawley but pairs it with a grounded perspective on life thanks to his return to Nottingham. Family matters, and having his loved ones nearby can certainly be a game-changer. His positivity regarding the team’s capabilities is refreshing, and it comes across as sincere. It’s as though the stars have aligned for him, family, football, and aspirations all converging at once. There’s something poetic about that. It’s not just Kellan Gordon who stands to gain from this setup; the fans and the squad are just as likely to benefit from his thriving presence.
  18. I would have said Jatta if he had managed to stay on, but since he went off to a standing ovation with his name being chanted, it was great to see. However, Alex Bass deserves it.
  19. Thank you for recognising this. It was a pleasant surprise. I just post and share my thoughts when I feel I have something to say, but it's nice to see they do matter.
  20. What an assist from Alex Bass, his long balls really impressed me, and it’s something we should encourage from time to time. I thought Notts worked very well in the first half to secure the 2-0 lead, with solid build-up play for the second goal. Kellen Gordon did well in my eyes; yes, he played it back at times, but he always looked for the right decision. It was great to see Jatta back in the team, his goal was route one football at its best. Our second goal showed a different style of attacking threat, but the second half was definitely nerve-wracking. I’m pleased for the players to get a good win, especially at such a tough ground.
  21. Another away game presents a formidable challenge. Stuart Maynard’s selection will be pivotal; we have to strike the right balance between defence and attack. Ensure the backline is resilient while allowing our midfield the freedom to support forwards on the break. Highlighting Didzy’s knack for clutch moments, his presence might just be the spark we need in a close contest. Given our recent results, coming away with a point would be a positive step. Football is unpredictable, so we always have a chance. Let’s hope for an uplifting performance from the lads!
  22. It’s always tough to see a game slip away, especially when Nick had such a golden opportunity. We dominated the match and created plenty of chances, but Nick’s miss was particularly unfortunate. Stallard is right about Tsaroulla and Abbott needing to take their chances, but Nick’s miss stands out. Gillingham made it difficult for us, and once they scored, they shut down any openings. We have the quality to break teams down, but today just wasn’t our day. The most frustrating part is knowing that Nick’s chance could have been the difference. These games are crucial in a promotion race. Still, it’s a learning experience, and hopefully, we can take those lessons into the next match.
  23. It’s an interesting question, one I am unsure about what could be the cause. I do think training has become more demanding, that is a fair point, but at the same time, looking after players has improved. Pitches are much better these days, no longer resembling mud pools, but we still have awful ones like Bradford’s sandy pitch. It does make you wonder.
  24. Dan Crowley has made some good comments in his recent presser. I think a lot of professionals try to make sure they are focused on their performances ahead of transfer talks. Extending a contract might not mean he will see that length out, but not having him under contract means we risk further competition from teams looking for a bargain. The thing is, he’s here now and he’s doing well. Nothing in his performances suggests he will be leaving any time soon.
  25. It does look good for Morecambe, but it should pick up. Not that they won’t be dragged into a relegation battle if they don’t improve beyond just getting results here or there.
