Still relevant now, I have no trust that Ardley follows a basic footballing philosophy. Furthermore, Crawford, Patching and Kellett seemingly now to be surplus to requirements. The problem is that they may well be on good contracts and no club wants to take them on.

@liampieOne could also say trying that in a Geography exam, I doubt you would pass

Ebbsfleet and Eastleigh...new definitions of coastal????

Under Keith Curle, Notts I believed trained at St Georges Park
The loss of EFL status can affect the funding of the Youth Team set up

Playing philosophy has to be stuck too. The total football of Moniz was ditched by the opposite extreme of bringing in Fullarton.
Board members need to be of independent mind. Hardy bringing in his "Forest" mates was a disaster waiting to happen.

"When Bolton came in for me, I was off.” all you need to know..... Bolton were fined but no compensation to Notts

Not surprised... It does free up wages to sign an experienced midfield lynchpin
-
But he let Luther Wildin go?

It is probably the case that Notts have been the most progressive club in this regard, in recent years... Michael Johnson (Caretaker), Ince, Curle, Kiwomya and Moniz
-
The linesman, running the line on the side of the Notts supporters, was quite inept, with one horrendous offside decision not given. The "handball" was within his vision too but seemed too afraid to help the referee out, so to speak

@TheSkipperJust please let me differentiate between who I would expect to leave and who I want to leave.
If O'Connor returns January/February, there is realistically no space for Milsom, much as I would like him to stay.
I agree on the Centre Half but trying to source a good one in January may be difficult. Worth trying though
-
Firstly, before we jump into speculation regarding possible signings, Notts need to release players to make room within the wage bill. I expect Curtis, Hollis and Milsom to go.
Whilst I agree with the substance of the article, I cannot agree on .... Duffy and Brisley.."being unbelievably solid"!!!!

What was impressive was the way Nolan set up the side that pressed Exeter so much their chances to create something from midfield was few and far between..especially in the first half
The players are given instructions to know what is expected and therefore slotting players into position, reinforces Nolan's view, post Scunthorpe game, "I knew I had a squad"

I am concerned at the size of squad we have now. I cannot see our younger professionals breaking in to even get to the subs bench. There needs to be some serious thinking to perhaps loan out some squad players sooner rather than later
-
Just to add, Pierce Bird was from Dunkirk
-
How did the referee perform?
I thought he actually did very well, he seemed to miss things but generally play to continue. He didn’t seem to be on either team's side which makes a change, and I know he made some poor decisions but within League Two I expect this.
One word...incredible.... Bottled the head lock red card decision.... Wiseman red card seemed to have been used to makeup for the earlier decision. Need refs to get the big decisions right...

Colin Foster the best ever loanee... Glenn Roeder mentioned in dispatches...still waiting my refund

Maybe this is recognition that Bola will not be returning?

Shaun Derry: The Magpie Circle - The Great Escape double episode feature

Posted
I've listened to the 2nd one first..... again a really good insightful interview by @TheMagpieCircle
Here is my take, reading between the lines:
1) Recruitment: Brano's appointment an absolute disaster waiting to happen ( had he been a head of recruitment elsewhere?..no, I think is the answer)
2) Recruitment : Derry seemingly signed players on "other peoples" recommendations, without ever seeing them play. Jimmy Sirrel did the leg work, travelling up to Scotland midweek to see games... I never got that impression that Shaun put in the miles? he mentioned Greg Abbotts in depth knowledge of L1, L2, Conference...so why did we end up signing the likes of Hayhurst, Wroe, Santos on loan.... It just doesn't hang well together. Bajner being a case on point, signed up on the basis of a call from his agent
3) Budget cuts.... I think people are missing the flip side to this equation. The Trews, probably still had the financial legacy of the Munto fiasco to continually to sort out. Also, maybe, writing without any knowledge...did the Trews have the necessary "dosh" coming in to finance the budgets...hence the cuts being made. I recall Chris Kiwomya saying his budget had been cut by a third...so this was ongoing...
