  1. On the contrary, I welcome challenge @Robbie

I welcome the debate too.... but I am just pointing out that for the average guy in the street, the Brexiteers have no answers to what will make his life better.

Just think about, Brexiteers championed the removal of VAT on fuel...it didn't happen

We now have the highest energy costs in Europe. Other EU countries looked after their citizens by capping fuel costs last year. You only have to see the British Gas profits today, to wonder , who the govt are really looking after.

I call out gaslighting when I see it.

I am patriotic about this country, I want a strong economy of high growth. I am waiting on an urgent referral list on the NHS, decimated by EU doctors, surgeons, nurses who abandoned the UK because of the Brexit toxic culture.

Again, you had no answers re NHS EU dentists that left....

That's why I say delusional ... it hasn't made life any better but worse. You happy with increased food prices, the paperwork, the inevitable lack of choice as EU lorry drivers give up at ports waiting in the queue? I'm not, Brexit has brought hardly any worthwhile benefits.

You happy with high paid City jobs being exported to Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin. I'm not

You happy with our own freedom of movement being curtailed?

You happy with the protection of UK tax havens...so every UK mainland citizen pays more in tax to make up the £400bn tax shortfall now we are out of the EU? I'm not

Whether it's economic, legal, social.... Brexit has been a disaster

The UK government has to respect international law, it's told China to do so over Hong Kong...so why should we even consider breaking the Good Friday Agreement for the Unionists in Northern Ireland?

The Northern Ireland people voted for the GFA and hence to be in the Single Market

    @Piethagoram.

The trouble with the numbers in Parliament is the pro EU faction have the majority and have had that majority all along, you may like that but Brexit has given the British parliament the opportunity to exploit Brexit to the full, which they certainly haven't done

The Parliament accepted EU standards because the majority  of Parliament is pro EU. We've got rid of 1000s of EU laws, regs and rules but that's not enough.

Take fishing, EU fishermen still have larger quoters than British fishermen. That is not exploiting Brexit.

Northern Ireland still in the Single Market. That's not exploiting Brexit

They are just two examples but you'll get my point

The USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, & Argentina to name just a few are not in the ECHR, why should we?

Brexit can get much better if Parliament really wanted it, but unfortunately at this time they don't have the desire to make it better. There is so much that could be done.

The fact that we are out of the EU and don't participate in the Parliament is great and that's what is great about Brexit.

With the right Brexit government, Brexit will get better and better.

In 20 years, people will not even be discussing Brexit, because the great benefits of Brexit will be taken for granted.

"The Parliament accepted EU standards because the majority  of Parliament is pro EU."...still a huge Tory majority, so this doesn't wash

"Take fishing, EU fishermen still have larger quoters than British fishermen."... you are missing the point, UK coastal waters have fish that is only wanted in EU markets. Hence Grimsby is suffering, as the fish market personnel were lied to by Boris, and has cost their jobs...as the fish is now directed to EU ports

"Northern Ireland still in the Single Market." That's what the people of Northern Ireland voted for! Why don't you like democracy? That's what Boris delivered "the will of the people" and all that.

"The USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, & Argentina to name just a few are not in the ECHR" How's your geography @Robbie? They are not in Europe!:rollonfloorlaughing:The ECHR is a fundamental part of the Good Friday agreement, voted on in UK and Irish Parliaments.

"Brexit can get much better" How? You are dilusional, I am sorry to say. The Trans Pacific partnership will only deliver 0.04% growth under the government's own figures. The UK has lost 4% GDP...so less money for public services.

Brexit is being driven by neo liberalism... where workers rights, holidays etc are trashed under the disguise of Freeports and Charter Cities. Why should UK tax havens be protected. A good question to answer Robbie?

Still no response on North Sea Oil under Labour too. I will wait.

@Piethagoram That's your opinion, I don't agree with your opinion,  nor will any of my fellow Brexiteers.

I don't support the Tories, they are Labour Party pink under Sunak, and have too many Remainers in their ranks.

You didn't answer my question about rife Labour antisemitism because it's awkward and embarrassing for you isn't it.

Anything to do with British  current affairs now is to do with Brexit UK. Do you find that uncomfortable to deal with?

And you talk about a fairer society under Labour. Labour have had 124 years to put in place a fairer society. They've failed miserably because they cannot ever deliver on that. Its just a slogan. There is no such thing as a fairer society.

And Brexiteers cannot in all sincerity vote Labour. The EU loving Labour party simply don't have our interests at heart.

I don't want any EU law that hasn't been debated and passed at Westminster, that means all of them.

As for the ECHR. We should withdraw from the ECHR and have a more superior British Bill of Rights

All EU laws still in place should be repealed and replaced with superior British laws, that have been fully debated in both houses, and passed by our Parliament, not a foreign Parliament.

I did try to respond to your Labour antisemitic question and to also point out the Tory example too. If you wish to go further, I will point you to this

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jun/28/jewish-groups-and-mps-condemn-nigel-farage-for-antisemitic-dog-whistles

Perhaps we differ on definitions and conclusions of a "fairer society", because at the extreme it could be argued to encompass communism, socialism et al.

What I would point out that this list is a fair basis to start

    What isn't there to dislike?

"All EU laws still in place should be repealed and replaced with superior British laws, that have been fully debated in both houses, and passed by our Parliament, not a foreign Parliament."

As regards EU law, it was voted on in the UK parliament in the Bill to formally enshrine all EU law. The laws must have been good because the Tories have hardly done anything to change it!

Furthermore, all Brexiteers talking about British standards seem to have overlooked, we accept EU standards now in the UK Parliament

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-07-31/uk-drops-bid-to-replace-europe-s-ce-quality-mark-post-brexit

"As for the ECHR. We should withdraw from the ECHR and have a more superior British Bill of Rights"...a far right trope. The ECHR was set up in the main by British lawyers, it is recognised as an international court and its enshrined into international laws at the United Nations. It's incorporated in the Good Friday Agreement, which respectfully, was democratically voted on in Northern Ireland.

Only Belarus and Russia have left the ECHR...so that tells you everything you need to know. You wish to be on the side of dictators?

I'm sure you said earlier in this thread some while back that UK law should over rule international law? That is an untenable situation to be in. United Nations has been formed out of wars / conflicts.

For the average man in the street, Brexit has been a disaster, pushing costs up, environmental standards down, loss of personal freedoms, exports to EU suffering with mountains of paperwork, the cost of which can make our exports uncompetitive. Exporting of jobs to the EU is another. Don't get me on securing our borders, the loss of Europol database, we don't know who is entering the country with criminal / murderous records. £400bn annual tax revenues lost, that could be used to support essential public services. I've said before, Brexit toxic culture has seen very good EU qualified medical staff leave the UK and not be replaced. How's that for the average guy having to wait 2 weeks for a GP or even to find a NHS dentist?

So you see, the average man is so much worse off...and brexiteers still cant point to any visible benefit to "this average man". The Brexit ideology cannot answer real world problems and the consequences that come with that.

I am truly sorry if you don't see it my way. Brexit has been a disaster.

The postings of Tufton Street, American neo liberal think tanks etc are all about protection of UK's own tax havens. Why do they deserve to be protected? We the average citizen, end up paying more tax

  4. Since when has antisemitism been part of Brexit thread?

But I always try to respond:

    Meanwhile

and your happy to post tweets from Gully Foyle, Jefferson Mfg, et al...all hiding behind Tufton Street, American neo liberals, Russia.... who don't have the UK at heart

So please answer my questions now

  5. Facts hurting @Robbie ?  So can you explain why is Florida a" trade deal" as described , that benefits the UK? I will wait

    4 hours ago, Piethagoram said:

Please can you explain how "Labour’s plans will kill off the North Sea and make us poorer and colder." in further detail?

still waiting for an answer too
