  1. Sam Austin had his ups and downs early in the season, and it seemed Luke Williams had trouble fitting him into the team. Even in his preferred position, he seemed a bit out of place and needed time to get used to League Two. I’m really glad to hear he’s constantly improving his game and prioritises the team. That’s a great trait because when he’s comfortable and playing well, Austin can really make a difference.

  2. Matt Palmer and Cedwyn Scott are indeed greatly missed in the squad, although all the injuries have had an impact. Geraldo Bajrami has been a valuable team player, but he may not have fully established himself yet. His injury was unfortunate, and while he might strengthen our defence, I feel we could give him more time. I’m also curious about what’s keeping Adam Chicksen and Will Randall sidelined, as they seem to have been injured frequently this season.

  3. Jaden Warner quickly caught the attention of us fans after his debut. I didn’t expect the club to pursue him, but it seems the recruitment team listened to fans who were impressed by his first appearance. He should be immediately integrated into the team and given the responsibility of neutralising threats.

  4. It’s a wise decision to appoint him as he’s had success in the past. Now that he’s at Notts, his record is just beginning, but I’m confident that he possesses all the necessary skills to progress and help us achieve promotion. League Two isn’t too different from the National League, it’s just more concentrated and has a higher calibre of players. These two factors should enable Maynard to excel at Notts.

I’m thrilled to welcome him to Meadow Lane.

  5. I have great faith in Luke Williams, and I’m confident that he has the ability to turn things around. This is his first significant challenge at Notts County. We had a team capable of advancing from the National League when he joined. He just needs time to work out what’s going wrong and how we can overcome these issues.

Yes, it’s more than just a headache, it’s frustrating, but we can’t start demanding a new manager, just as it’s unrealistic to expect a completely new set of centre backs. We’re sorely missing Matt Palmer, who brings so much control to our midfield. It’s not an excuse. The defence should be able to cope, but they’re simply not up to the task at the moment.

  6. Currently, Luke Williams is facing a slump and poor performance that he hasn’t encountered before. Usually, he can get Notts back on track, but for some reason, despite the effort, it’s not working at the moment. I don’t agree with David Jackson’s presser suggestion that Notts are overconfident. I believe it’s not a lack of confidence.

It’s likely a combination of nerves and panic causing the defensive problems. As for what went wrong in the second half against Walsall, it’s much simpler because Notts just stopped playing. When that happens, passing becomes tedious.

  7. James Sanderson performed well, but we need to avoid overhyping his debut. The problem I see is people making negative comments if he plays and underperforms or just plays in a way that some fans can’t see he needs time. I do hope to see him in the team, but it will be seasons away before we have a youth player that is going to be with us for a while.

  8. I hope we can begin to worry less, as we’ve noticed that we often give up too quickly, something we’ve been conscious of all season. I won’t criticise the players for the poor defence, I’m certain they’re aware and will be upset with themselves. I simply hope we become more resilient from this experience because we’re in an excellent position where a little more effort could yield results.

  9. We talked in the pre-season about how Junior Morias would fit into the squad. With Cedwyn Scott’s injury, Junior has been given more of an opportunity. He’s got a turn of speed that’s frighteningly quick, which could come in handy. His goal was brilliantly placed, so we know he’s got the ability to score. I hope he gets more opportunities as he’s had a bit of bad luck with injuries.

  10. As for Sam Slocombe, I hope he’s not seriously injured. I’m fond of both him and Aidan Stone, so it would be worrying if Slocombe was out for a long time. But Stone is fully capable of stepping back into the team. We were fantastic in the second half, everything just fell into place and we turned the tables on Crawley. Our pressure on them really paid off. It was a brilliant win.

  11. There’s a sense of nervousness and a lack of creativity. Ideally, we could benefit from a few players hitting top form that’s good enough to propel us forward. Dominating games offensively would alleviate the pressure on the defence. This could be achieved by keeping at least two players back and being mindful of long balls forward aimed at outpacing our back line.

While we continue to depend on our goalkeepers, they will persistently face a barrage of harsh and often unjust comments directed at them. Whether it’s for a single mistake or for not making a save. Even though they save many decent attempts, they can’t stop everything. The defenders simply need to improve their defending.

  12. I can’t understand why this happens at away games, we don’t seem like the same team at times. Once panic kicks in, it appears that every player’s mindset shifts, leading to costly mistakes.

Despite the criticism Sam Slocombe often receives, he managed to keep the scoreline more respectable, and it’s not his fault for failing to save a penalty. The taker always has the advantage in that situation, especially with the recent rule changes. I’m quite disappointed because I know we’re capable of much better.
