  1. I imagine we will play 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Rodrigues and Enzio out wide. Reeves and Doyle in the centre with Jake pushing on. I can see Thomas starting up top. This is a good chance to get off to a good start. We should not underestimate Dover, but they have had the toughest summer out of any National League club (except for Macclesfield). If 4-4-2: Slocombe, Brindley, Rawlinson, Lacey, McCrory, Rodrigues, Reeves, Doyle, Enzio, Thomas, Wootton If 4-3-3: Slocombe, Brindley, Rawlinson, Lacey, McCrory, Doyle, Reeves, O'Brien, Rodrigues, Wootton, Enzio. Or play Rodri in the midfield 3

  3. My worry is, is that we've spent the entirety of pre-season learning a new formation that won't get the best out of our best players (for now at the moment). We'll then play 4-4-2/4-3-3 opening day and we may have the risk that the new signings won't have the time to adapt to which one we play, despite the fact they are easier to learn. I'm also worried that we've not replaced Kristian Dennis. He bought a lot more to the team than what people may have thought. His link-up play, his movement, runs in behind and his positioning. Elisha Sam and Jimmy Knowles need time to settle in to h

  5. Good luck to him. At his age he needs to be playing games and Leamington is a good place for him to do that. It may also help him ascend the leagues if he catches the eye. It worked for Colby Bishop and Josh March
  6. We are trying out new formations so we have more adaptability in league games. Good signs and obviously still things to work on. Rodrigues is impressing me with his link up play, work rate and eye for a pass. We have players who haven't played in over half a year still getting their fitness up and getting used to the way we play. We've also got our players from last season getting used to playing a new system. Not just this, but Ardley mentioned there were players playing out of position in the 2nd half, so it's understandable that the 2nd half performance wasn't as good as the first. Go

  8. Massive thanks for all the birthday messages everyone, I've had a great day. I'm on holiday in Skegness with @meg_walshx at the minute @liampie. Been to the arcades, walked the pier, and had a nice meal. I'm 21 @NCRichie
  9. Very happy about this. We've got some great options in central defence now. Just need a LB and ST now. Winger at a push
  10. Enzio did play at left back for a while @Chris Our back four for part of the second half was Garwood, Brindley, Chicksen, Boldewijn. It didn't even include a centre-back

  12. Dagenham and Sutton away on a Tuesday so I don't have to go to them dumps again. King's Lynn and Weymouth Easter games please or at least one of them in the sunny times of the season. Torquay away last day
  13. Felt Reeves played very well. Two good assists for Wootton and can tell he has good technical ability. Chicksen did well too. One part that stood out was when he helped us play ourselves out of pressure when Ilkeston pressed us into the corner in the first half. Brindley did well at centre-back and Rawlinson looks confident with the ball at his feet. Rodrigues looks to have decent decision making in the final third and an eye for a pass.
  14. Priorities are a striker and a left back before moving on to squad depth positions. I still feel like we need a striker as I don't feel like Sam is a like-for-like replacement for Denno. Sam, to me, is a striker who likes the ball to his feet but can also hold it up when needed and show decent pace for a guy of his size. However, I'd argue we still need a poacher with a bit more pace than Kristian and someone who is prolific. Left back is also a priority as we can't go all season with Damo on his own. At some points, he may be asked to cover in the centre if injuries mount and we don't s
  15. Brilliant news. Excellent centre half. So confident and calm on the ball
  16. Can't fault him if he wants to move closer to home. All the best to him. Stood in for Slocombe when we needed him. Fine save against Aldershot and took one for the team at Barrow
  17. I'm not believing anything that "non league insider" account says. Same with Ex Agent 12. As much as it might be a decent signing by the looks of it, I'll wait till it's legit
  18. I surprisingly got over it pretty quickly. It would have hurt more if I was there to see us lose. At the start of the season, nobody expected us to be in the play-off final. We had the squad to challenge for the play-offs but nobody expected us to make so much progress on and off the pitch. Everything we did in the build up to the game was fine. Ardley said we even prepared for Harrogate's press. We just didn't execute it and we maybe should have played Rawlo and Enzio. However, he has done a terrific job all season. It's disappointing but with the progress made, we'll be bac
  19. Very excited by this. Looks a very astute piece of business. Can play anywhere across the attacking front four positions. Could also signal a change in formation. The planning and scouting that goes into every signing now gives me so much confidence in the management team and the board.
  20. Good luck to him. Ardley said he wasn't going to stand in his way. It's a chance to manage. Who wouldn't take that opportunity. Doyle, Simon Bassey possible replacements?
