  1. Notts County have remained top of League Two thanks to a 1-1 draw away at Stevenage on Saturday afternoon. The Magpies fell behind at Broadhall Way through Danny Newton's 38th-minute strike, but levelled through Elliott Hewitt in the second half. Stevenage then found themselves repelling numerous attacks from the visitors and were lucky to hold out until the final whistle and ensure a share of the spoils. Combined with Cheltenham Town's 97th-minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Luton Town, the draw at Broadhall Way / Lamex Stadium ensures Notts remain at the top of the table. 2. Notts County put in one of their best performances in recent years in a 4-2 hammering of Bristol Rovers at Meadow Lane on Friday night to reach the second round of the FA Cup. The visitors had led 2-0 after the first 15 minutes thanks to goals from Liam Sercombe and Stuart Sinclair, which prompted fears of a full-blown capitulation to the League One side. However, the Magpies rallied round in superb style as a quickfire brace from Ryan Yates edged them level by the break, setting up a second half in which the hosts really showed what they're made of. Ultimately a further two goals, from Jon Stead and Jorge Grant, saw the Pirates knocked out of the competition, while Notts are in the hat for round two and ever closer to the hallowed third round and the hope of a tie against Premier League giants. Here are the highlights from the game, as posted on the FA's official YouTube channel. 3. Notts County have returned to the summit of League Two as Jorge Grant bagged a brace in a 3-0 win over 10-man Newport County. The 23-year-old opened the scoring in the 36th minute when he calmly slotted into the corner from inside the box after being played in by Jon Stead. That came just three minutes after Dan Butler had seen red for catching Matt Tootle with his elbow in an aerial challenge. Early in the second half, Shola Ameobi produced a powerful finish to double Notts' advantage. Grant went on to score his second of the match three minutes later when he nodded in the rebound from his own saved shot. He sadly missed out on a hat-trick when his free kick rattled the woodwork, but Notts still saw out the game without a reply from Newport and, combined with Luton Town's defeat, went back to the summit. 4. Notts County returned to winning ways - and to the top of League Two - in emphatic style thanks to a 3-0 win over Newport County in Saturday's game at Meadow Lane. The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 34th minute when Dan Butler was dismissed following an elbow on Matt Tootle and fell behind shortly afterwards when Jorge Grant slotted home from Jon Stead's pass. Shola Ameobi then doubled the Magpies' lead with a neat finish after 52 minutes, turning in a Grant cross. The Nottingham Forest loanee went on to score his second of the match three minutes later when he nodded in the rebound from his own saved shot. Grant sadly missed out on a hat-trick when his free kick rattled the woodwork, but Notts still saw out the game without a reply from Newport and, combined with Luton Town's defeat, went back to the summit. 5. Notts County kept up the pressure on League Two leaders Luton Town with a 1-1 draw at Carlisle United on Saturday. The Magpies struggled in the first half as Hallam Hope edged the Cumbrians ahead in the 24th minute at Brunton Park. County failed to clear Nicky Adams's cross and Jamie Devitt's ball was bundled home by Hope from close range. However, Kevin Nolan's side stepped it up a gear in the second half and got their reward. Terry Hawkridge played in Matt Tootle, whose cut-back was drilled into the net by Yates, and the visitors left with a share of the spoils come the final whistle. Notts have put up the match highlights on their YouTube channel - here they are for you to relive the game. 6. No sooner have Notts County got back to winning ways that they suffer another negative result, this time a 2-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra. The Magpies were hoping to build on their 2-1 win over Barnet on Saturday with a result that would keep them top of the table at Gresty Road. However, Notts were not at the races as Michael Raynes rattled home from close range just before half time after Eddie Nolan had headed George Cooper’s free kick across goal. Crewe's win was sealed when, 66 minutes in, Jordan Bowery ran in behind to latch onto a pass from Cooper - the Notts defence caught napping once again - and steer past goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons. Should you wish to see them again, here are the highlights from the game off the official Notts YouTube page. 7. Notts County survived a late scare to move back to the top of League Two with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Barnet at Meadow Lane on Saturday. The Magpies went ahead on the quarter-hour mark when Shola Ameobi headed a Rob Milsom corner towards goal and Shaun Brisley made sure of the ball going into the back of the net from point-blank range. Notts then doubled their advantage seven minutes into the second half when Matt Tootle crossed for Ryan Yates, who headed home for his first league goal of the season. Kevin Nolan's charges pressed for a third, Jorge Grant belting over from close range before Jon Stead fired the ball into the back of the net only to be thwarted by the offside flag. The hosts then endured a nervy finish when Simeon Akinola drove inside the far post with seven minutes remaining, but were able to see the game out to leapfrog Exeter City up to top spot. 8. Notts County have moved back to the top of League Two thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Barnet on Saturday. Kevin Nolan's men went ahead after 16 minutes when Shola Ameobi headed a Rob Milsom corner towards goal and Shaun Brisley forced the ball home. Seven minutes into the second half, Matt Tootle beat his marker with a Cruyff turn and crossed for Ryan Yates, who glanced in his first league goal of the season. Barnet, however, kept plugging away and set up a nervy finish when substitute Simeon Akinola rifled beyond Ross Fitzsimons - who came on for the injured Adam Collin - inside the far post with seven minutes remaining. 9. Notts County managed to claim a draw from the jaws of defeat on Saturday as their League Two game with Forest Green Rovers ended all square at Meadow Lane. The division's bottom side took the lead on the half-hour mark through Omar Bugiel and held on to their advantage until deep - and I mean really deep - into injury time, when Rob Milsom equalised for a final score of 1-1. The Magpies barely deserved to come away with anything following a very lacklustre performance against Mark Cooper's side but their point keeps them in the top two, though Exeter City are now back in first place. 10. Rob Milsom's stoppage-time header has helped Notts County preserve their unbeaten home record as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Forest Green Rovers at Meadow Lane on Saturday. The Magpies midfielder met Matt Tootle's cross to nod past FGR goalkeeper Sam Russell in the 96th minute, a goal which cancelled out Omar Bugiel's first-half opener for the visitors. Notts were lacklustre throughout the game and were very lucky to escape with a point, though the result saw them slip to second in League Two as Exeter City reclaimed top spot. The club have posted the match highlights on their official YouTube channel so, should you wish to see them again, here they are for you. 11. Notts County saw their six-game winning streak come to an abrupt halt with a 3-1 defeat at local rivals Mansfield Town. The in-form Danny Rose grabbed a second-half brace before a Richard Duffy own goal killed off the game for the Magpies. Carl Dickinson, meanwhile, grabbed a consolation for County two minutes into added time with a superb 25-yard free-kick. Notts remain top of the table despite their defeat, however, acting almost as a kind of reprieve as Kevin Nolan sets about regrouping his charges. 12. Notts County’s 10-game unbeaten run came to end in a 3-1 defeat at Mansfield Town on Saturday. Danny Rose made the most of a miscued headed backpass from Magpies captain Richard Duffy to guide the ball into an empty net, before adding a second from close range. Duffy’s own goal, with Rose once again playing a part in the build-up, then put the Stags three up in a miserable afternoon for the Notts fans. While Carl Dickinson found the net in stoppage time with an impressive free kick, it proved a mere consolation. 13. Goals from Dan Jones and substitute Jonathan Forte stretched Notts County's unbeaten run to six games as they beat Morecambe 2-0 at Meadow Lane on Saturday afternoon. The Magpies defender opened the scoring midway through the first half with a well taken free kick which left Shrimps goalkeeper Barry Roche grasping at thin air. Morecambe mounted a fightback in the second half but striker Forte eventually wrapped up the win as he steered in via the inside of the post late on. It was no more than the hosts deserved for a solid performance which maintained their excellent start to the season under boss Kevin Nolan. 14. Notts County's August match action has come to an end, with their last fixture of the month seeing them held to a 2-2 draw with Accrington Stanley at Meadow Lane on Friday night. Whilst two wins, a defeat and a draw would seem like a fair enough tally from the first month of the League Two season, there is a sense of wasted opportunity from this fixture given the opposition successfully clawed back a two-goal deficit. Jon Stead's successful spot kick midway through the first half and Jorge Grant's early second half strike were cancelled out through Mark Hughes's goal and loanee Mallik Wilks's equaliser five minutes into injury time. Other notable occurrences in the game were Stanley goalkeeper Aaron Chapman's heroics in between the sticks, red cards for Notts man Matt Tootle and opposition sub Mekhi McLeod, and a performance from referee Carl Boyeson which has come under scrutiny from both sets of fans. Here are the highlights from Notts County's official YouTube channel - see all four goals again and relive all the drama from the game. 15. Notts County grabbed their first league win of the 2017/18 League Two season in impressive fashion, seeing off a dirty Chesterfield side 2-0 in Saturday's encounter at Meadow Lane. A game laden with controversy, Gozie Ugwu should have earned a red card for a number of clashes with home players, and was hauled off at half time by Gary Caldwell. Gibraltar international Scott Wiseman, meanwhile, did get his marching orders after hauling down Terry Hawkridge, denying him a clear goalscoring opportunity. In the end, the encounter was settled by Jorge Grant, whose looping header to break the deadlock was followed up by a spectacular free kick into the bottom corner of the Spireites net. Notts have put up the highlights of the game on YouTube - have another look for yourself how the Magpies got on and relive Grant's moments of magic. 16. Notts County played a part in one of the biggest Great Escapes of recent times when they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Newport County on Saturday. With Hartlepool United 2-1 up against Doncaster Rovers and the Magpies drawing 1-1, the Exiles were set to drop out of the English Football League. Mickey Demetriou and Jorge Grant exchanged goals either side of half-time as the match looked set to end a stalemate. However, Mark O'Brien chested and volleyed home in the 89th minute to ensural Newport's survival in League Two, while Notts, with nothing to play for, finished 16th in the fourth tier. Here are the official Notts YouTube highlights of the game.
