<p>
	Notts County have done their <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/news/notts-county-reveal-kits-for-201718-season-r1578/" rel="">big kit reveal</a>, with the public now knowing the design of all their shirts and jerseys for the 2017/18 season.
</p>

<p>
	On Tuesday evening, the club released a video which showed manager Kevin Nolan visiting a young fan and showing him the new home shirt.
</p>

<p>
	Later on in the evening, Notts published an article on their website which showcased the home, away, third, goalkeeper and training kits.
</p>

<p>
	As with every release of new clothing, there will always be divided opinion among fans, with some loving it, some disliking it, some not being particularly bothered.
</p>

<p>
	But what is certain is that there is plenty of discussion about it.
</p>

<p>
	Pride of Nottingham has collated several fan opinions regarding the new kit, and indeed it's very much mixed.

<p>
	As someone who grew up in the 1990s, I honestly believe that it was the best decade for a young boy to come of age.
</p>

<p>
	The music was incredible, there were so many good shows on television, and technology was life-enriching without being suffocatingly all-encompassing as it is today.
</p>

<p>
	And then we have the football. Italia 1990 and Euro 1996 saw England give genuine hope to the nation's fans that football was in fact coming home, while the advent of the Premier League brought along with it dozens of players which thrilled audiences on these shores and worldwide.
</p>

<p>
	And as part of that "liquid football", as Alan Partridge deemed it 20-odd years ago, the Mitre football was an instrumental piece of the jigsaw.
</p>

<p>
	Founded in Huddersfield 200 years ago, the sports brand's iconic footballs were involved in countless historic moments in English football, from the Premier League's first ever goal (scored by Sheffield United's Brian Deane in a 2-1 win over eventual champions Manchester United) to Paolo Di Canio's legendary scissor kick against Wimbledon.
</p>

<p>
	And now, Mitre have just revamped one of their flagship models as the official match ball of the 2017-18 EFL season, bringing together past, present and future.
</p>

<p>
	With its unique white, blue and red design, the Mitre Delta has long been a staple of English football pitches from professional to Sunday League level, and it's back with a brand new design and plenty of little tweaks to make it apt for the modern game.
</p>

<p>
	The ball is made up of 14 triangular-shaped panels stitched and bonded together by Mitre's trademark Hyperseam technology, while the surface has a rugged texture and embossed grooves.
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileid="443" href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2017_06/19074749_1295791837206666_146932893_o.jpg.2db8fafa1f72f872f3b02695708b74e4.jpg" rel=""><img alt="19074749_1295791837206666_146932893_o.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="443" data-unique="gi2wof3hi" src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2017_06/19074749_1295791837206666_146932893_o.thumb.jpg.ff1c85465bed01e752a50280a5527169.jpg" style="" data-ratio="56.25" loading="lazy"></a>
</p>

<p>
	These features help make the ball more aerodynamic, making it easier to curve and float, as well as enabling goalkeepers to get a firmer grip when making saves.
</p>

<p>
	It's also quite soft compared to a traditional leather ball, and much lighter, so heading it - not to mention getting a poor connection with it - isn't something to be dreaded even when wet.
</p>

<p>
	And the way the Mitre Delta is stitched should also offer more protection from damage and splitting, ensuring it stays in one piece for longer.
</p>

<p>
	Launched in both white and yellow hi-vis, we've enjoyed playing this ball - aside from looking incredible, it's also a pleasure to use on the pitch, and you can tell the difference when playing with this compared to cheaper balls.
</p>

<p>
	On Saturday, it was announced that former Notts County chairman Derek Pavis had passed away aged 87.
</p>

<p>
	Pavis, who has the west stand at Meadow Lane named in his honour, guided the Magpies through their most successful period in their recent history thanks to his shrewd appointment of Neil Warnock and investment in the squad.
</p>

<p>
	He also oversaw the redevelopment of the stadium before stepping aside after 13 years at the helm at the age of 70.
</p>

<p>
	Here are just some of the tributes left on the PON site to one of the finest chairmen in the club's history.

<p><img src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2017_05/whitehartlane.jpg.424a73584ed7b0d29218b988bba27523.jpg" /></p>
<p>
	As the oldest Football League club in existence, Notts County have not only created history of their own, but they've also played a part in the history of other clubs.
</p>

<p>
	By now all Notts fans will be well aware of the connection between the Magpies and Juventus, thanks to Nottingham man Tom Gordon Savage's procurement of shirts with black and white vertical stripes when he lived in Turin back in 1903.
</p>

<p>
	But with Tottenham Hotspur saying goodbye to White Hart Lane this season as they prepare to move - via Wembley - to a brand new stadium, the focus has very much been on the now-dismantled ground's history.
</p>

<p>
	And sure enough, Notts crop up there too, as they were the very first team to play against Spurs at White Hart Lane in the final year of the 19th century.
</p>

<p>
	Logan Holmes of Spurs fansite Hotspur HQ writes: "On 4 September 1899, Tottenham played a friendly game against Notts County to mark the opening of their new ground. They have continued to play there ever since.
</p>

<p>
	"The First Division club were the first visitors and 5,000 spectators were present. Notts took the lead through an own goal. Spurs inside right, Tom Pratt, brought them level by half-time and after the interval centre forward David Copeland completed a hat-trick, although for the last two goals County had been reduced to ten men as their goalkeeper was injured. County’s centre half, Walter Bull, who went in to goal, was to join Tottenham five years later.
</p>

<p>
	"At that time the ground wasn’t known as White Hart Lane. It was only after the 1st World War that it took on that name. Before then it had been called ‘The High Road Ground’, although the club had favoured ‘Percy Park’ after Sir Henry Percy – Harry Hotspur.
</p>

<p>
	"Prior to 1899 Tottenham had played at their Northumberland Park ground, having moved there in 1888 after originally playing their matches on Tottenham Marshes."
</p>

<p>
	118 years later, White Hart Lane would host its final game as Spurs clinched a 2-1 win over the mighty Manchester United on 14 May 2017, dominating from start to finish.
</p>

<p>
	And with the history of the ground the main focus of the day, Spurs had created special corner flags which boasted information of the first and last game at the Lane - one saying "14th May 2017" and featuring the Spurs and Man United badges, and the other saying "4th September 1899" and featuring the Spurs and Notts badges, with "To Dare Is To Do" written at the bottom of both.
</p>

<center>
	<img alt="flags.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="426" data-unique="15miysi26" src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2017_05/flags.jpg.d87ac8f904a743ba847238d13e831235.jpg" style="" data-ratio="68.19" loading="lazy">
</center>

<p>
	Another historic White Hart Lane clash between the two teams took place on 10 March 1991, when Spurs hosted Notts in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies put their opponents to the sword, Don O'Riordan putting the visitors ahead with a sensational rocket from outside the box and Mark Draper bossing the midfield to the point that he was upstaging a certain England international by the name of Paul Gascoigne - you may have heard of him.
</p>

<p>
	However, Spurs came out invigorated in the second half as Craig Short deflected Nayim's effort into his own net, before Gascoigne - who should have been sent off after elbowing Paul Harding in the face, leaving him with a black eye - struck a clinical shot into the far corner with just seven minutes left in the game.
</p>

	</div>
</div>

<p>
	O'Riordan, scorer of County's superb first goal in that tie, paid a visit to White Hart Lane on the Monday to reminisce about his memories of the stadium.
</p>

<p>
	He wrote: "Wonderful memories visiting White Hart Lane. Sadly couldn't get on the pitch to take a photo of the goal I scored in during the quarter final in 1991.
</p>

<p>
	"Met two Spurs fans who supported the club for 35+ years and they remembered the goal which was amazing and agreed Gazza should have been red carded lol.
</p>

<p>
	"Has to be one of the biggest highlights of my career. Funny the lads even knew the first Tottenham game in their history (at White Hart Lane) was against Notts."
</p>

<p>
	He then talked about what happened the day after the match: "After we lost at Spurs, Neil (Warnock) had us in next day that was normally a rest day but he told the YTS lads to tell us to make sure we had our kit and trainers on.
</p>

<p>
	"This normally would mean a running session but we ended up in the sponsors lounge and Neil and Mick Jones brought 2 cases of beer for us to consume and he said we can make Wembley again win promotion and sample the Spurs atmosphere every week in the 1st Division.
</p>

<p>
	"We looked at each other and had another drink and wondered what he was on about but how could we doubt this guy. Sure enough we beat Brighton (in the playoffs) and the rest as we all know is history."
</p>

<center>
	<iframe allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" height="544" scrolling="no" src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdoninchina%2Fposts%2F10155287286943894&amp;width=500" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" width="500" loading="lazy"><br></iframe>
</center>

<p>
	As Spurs wave goodbye to their home for 118 years and prepare to create new history, it's nice to know that Notts have played a part in some of it - and that clubs continue to pay tribute to us.

	Notts County played a part in one of the biggest Great Escapes of recent times when they fell to a <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/reports/match-report-notts-county-undone-by-late-goal-as-newport-county-seal-league-two-survival-r1488/" rel="">2-1 defeat at Newport County</a> on Saturday.
</p>

<p>
	With Hartlepool United 2-1 up against Doncaster Rovers and the Magpies drawing 1-1, the Exiles were set to drop out of the English Football League.
</p>

<p>
	Mickey Demetriou and Jorge Grant exchanged goals either side of half-time as the match looked set to end a stalemate.
</p>

<p>
	However, Mark O'Brien chested and volleyed home in the 89th minute to ensural Newport's survival in League Two, while Notts, with nothing to play for, finished 16th in the fourth tier.

	Pride of Nottingham was at Rodney Parade for the game taking photos of fans - see if you feature in the last Faces of PON of the season!

<p>
</p>

<p>
	With Hartlepool United 2-1 up against Doncaster Rovers and the Magpies drawing 1-1, the Exiles were set to drop out of the English Football League.
</p>

<p>
	Mickey Demetriou and Jorge Grant exchanged goals either side of half-time as the match looked set to end a stalemate.
</p>

<p>
	However, Mark O'Brien chested and volleyed home in the 89th minute to ensural Newport's survival in League Two, while Notts, with nothing to play for, finished 16th in the fourth tier.
</p>

<p>
	Here are the official Notts YouTube highlights of the game.

	Notts County decided to hold a firework display ahead of their final home game of the League Two season against Blackpool on Saturday.
</p>

<p>
	With the players lined up on the Meadow Lane pitch not far from the touchline in front of the Derek Pavis stand, they had their backs turned to the display on the centre circle.
</p>

<p>
	And right at the end, loud explosions from the cannons startled both sets of players, some of whom visibly flinched - cue much amusement from the crowd!
</p>

<p>
	See the firework display for yourself - credit to Nick Holmes for the footage!

	Notts County have ended their programme of League Two home fixtures this season on a winning note after a <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/reports/match-report-notts-county-beat-blackpool-in-last-home-game-of-the-season-r1475/" rel="">1-0 win over Blackpool</a> at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
</p>

<p>
	Centre-half Richard Duffy's fourth goal of the season was all that separated the two sides as he headed into an unguarded net on 34 minutes after Blackpool goalkeeper Sam Slocombe had kept out Jorge Grant's free-kick.
</p>

<p>
	Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane for the game and spoke to a number of fans - as it was the last home game of the season, we asked them a number of "review" type questions, such as who their favourite player has been this campaign, how many home games they've been to and so on.

<p>
	Easter Monday 2017 turned out to be a positive day for both fans of Notts County and of Portsmouth at Meadow Lane.
</p>

<p>
	Although the Magpies fell to a <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/reports/match-report-notts-county-mathematically-safe-despite-defeat-to-portsmouth-r1443/" rel="">3-1 defeat</a>, Newport County were thrashed by Plymouth Argyle, confirming for good that Notts would be a League Two side next season.
</p>

<p>
	Meanwhile, Pompey ended eight years of hurt with a win that sealed promotion into League and going some way towards exorcising the demons of the last few years.
</p>

<p>
	Pride of Nottingham spoke to several fans ahead of kickoff at the Lane and asked a number of questions including whether or not Haydn Hollis should remain at Notts and if the club can do a Pompey next season by putting financial woes behind them and going into the third tier.
</p>

<p>
	We hope you enjoy the video! COME ON YOU PIES!

</p>

<p>
	Gareth Evans put Paul Cook's side ahead from the spot after a foul on Kai Naismith by Richard Duffy.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies drew level in the second half, however, when Jorge Grant found the corner from Elliott Hewitt's pass.
</p>

<p>
	Jamal Lowe restored Pompey's lead with an angled shot in the second half and made sure of victory - and eventual promotion - with a second in the 90th minute.

</p>

<p>
	Chris Dagnall cancelled out Adam Campbell's early opener for the Magpies, before captain Michael O'Connor restored the visitors' lead with a second-half finish against his former club.
</p>

<p>
	However, County's hopes of recording a fifth straight win were dashed when James Jones made amends for gifting the visitors their early lead.
</p>

</p>

<p>
	It looked like the Magpies' winning run would come to an end at Brunton Park when substitute Jabo Ibehre put the Cumbrians ahead and the clock began to tick over into the 80s.
</p>

<p>
	However, Jon Stead drew Notts level in the 85th minute before Matt Tootle struck a winner heading into injury time to make it four wins on the trot for Nolan's boys.

<p>
	Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane on Saturday 1 April to see Notts County take on Colchester United.
</p>

<p>
	The Black and White Army was treated to a great performance from the Magpies, which culminated in a <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/reports/match-report-shola-ameobi-brace-helps-notts-county-to-victory-over-colchester-united-r1408/" rel="">3-1 victory</a> thanks to goals from Haydn Hollis and Shola Ameobi.
</p>

<p>
	The result meant that Notts maintained a 13-point gap between themselves and the bottom two in League Two, giving them yet another massive boost in their fight against relegation.
</p>

<p>
	PON spoke to a number of Notts fans before the game to get their opinions on a number of subjects, including whether they thought the club was safe or to wait until mathematical certainty, and which out-of-contract players should be offered a new deal at the end of the season.

	The former Newcastle United forward's 27th-minute strike proved the winner against Gareth Ainsworth's Chairboys and put the Magpies 13 points clear of the bottom two.

<p>
	With just seven games left and basement sides Newport County and Leyton Orient in torrid form, the general consensus among the Black and White Army is that their beloved club will still be playing League Two football next season.

<p>
	The Magpies had a man sent off after just 11 minutes when Mark Yeates was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Ricardo Almeida Santos.
</p>

<p>
	Although at a disadvantage, Notts managed to create chances with Marc Bola going close on two occasions from distance.
</p>

<p>
	The breakthrough eventually arrived in the second half when Jorge Grant teed up Tootle, who lashed a superb finish past Benjamin Buchel.

	Notts County fell to an unfortunate and <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/reports/match-report-notts-county-put-up-fight-but-lose-at-doncaster-rovers-r1374/" rel="">controversial 3-1 defeat at Doncaster Rovers</a> on Tuesday night.
</p>

<p>
	The visitors took the lead through Richard Duffy, but strikes from James Coppinger and John Marquis either side of the break put Donny in the lead.
</p>

<p>
	Notts thought they had equalised when Haydn Hollis headed home in the second half, but the flag went up to rule the goal out, much to the bemusement of the travelling contingent.
</p>

<p>
	Andy Williams then sealed the win by adding a third for the hosts in stoppage time as Notts sent goalkeeper Adam Collin forward.
</p>

<p>
	The official Notts page on YouTube has posted the highlights - judge for yourself whether Hollis's disallowed header should have counted or not.

<p>
	Pride of Nottingham were at Meadow Lane for Notts County's 2-1 victory over Hartlepool United on Saturday March 11.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies took the lead via Shola Ameobi, who scored his first goal for the club and made amends for missing a penalty earlier in the match.
</p>

<p>
	Loanee Jorge Grant then struck a wonderful long-range effort to put Notts two up, ensuring that Haydn Hollis's unfortunate own goal proved little more than a consolation for the visitors.
</p>

<p>
	Before the game, PON spoke to several fans to ask them several questions, including whether manager Kevin Nolan should play, thoughts on thoughts on Alan Hardy's season ticket renewal price freeze, opinions on the new pitch and a prospective new scoreboard, and of course the score prediction.

<p>
	Shola Ameobi's first Notts County goal and a Jorge Grant stunner helped boss Kevin Nolan keep his unbeaten home record intact as the Magpies <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/home/reports/match-report-jorge-grant-rocket-helps-notts-county-overcome-hartlepool-united-r1366/" rel="">beat fellow strugglers Hartlepool United 2-1 at Meadow Lane on Saturday</a>.
</p>

<p>
	The former Newcastle United striker saw a penalty saved in the first half, but he went on to make amends by opening the scoring shortly after the restart, and the lead was doubled through loanee Grant's strike from outside the box.
</p>

<p>
	Despite Haydn Hollis's unfortunate own goal, Notts held out for all three points.
</p>

<p>
	Here are the highlights from the game so you can relive these moments.
