It's safe to say that few Notts County fans have looked back since Alan Hardy took over the club and hired Kevin Nolan as first-team manager.

Since mid-January, the Magpies have halted their freefall towards the bottom of League Two, with the now much more confident players putting in much-improved displays and rediscovering how to get points.

The atmosphere in the stands is much better too, with offers and incentives combined with the improved performances making Notts fans smile again and restoring hope that next season the club will still be in the Football League.

On Thursday night, the fabled Meadow Lane trinity of Hardy, Nolan and Sir Colin Slater were on stage at the Lifeline Quiz and spoke to the audience.

Nolan talked about how he came about getting the Notts job, his good relationship with Hardy, and how the skills and experience learned in his playing career is now filtering through to the Magpies players.

To see him discuss these things, here is the video.

When Robert Jackson's second son, Oliver, was born in 2015 and was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome, his father was unsure what services were available out there to help Oliver get the best possible start in life.

A fellow parent then suggested the Rutland House School for Parents, and since then Oliver and his family have never looked back.

The SFP began life in 1978 as the Rutland House School. Originally based in Mapperley, it was part of the Scope charity network and it aimed to care for older children and young adults with cerebral palsy.

Since then the SFP has grown exponentially as it hit several milestones and added more duties and responsibilities to its mission.

In 1981, it began helping parents of young children with varying forms of motor disorder. In 1986 its new nursery opened and saw 60 families attending its various sessions.

The 1990s saw the SFP become international as professionals began training at the original premises and school were established as far afield as South Africa and Pakistan, while a network of SFPs also began forming in the UK.

By 2000 there were 40 SFP schools for parents helping hundreds of children and their families across the nation, and in 2001, it became an independent charity as it continued to grow over the years.

In 2011 SFP moved to its new premises at the Iona School on Sneinton Dale, and on 17 July 2012, its celebrated its 10th anniversary of being an independently registered charity and increased the services they offer to include supporting older children with communication difficulties; supporting transition to school; and offering outreach for families.

Since starting his journey at SFP, Oliver's development has come on significantly. They have supported him in learning a range of skills from learning to pull himself to standing, self feeding and using a cup with a straw.

SFP also gave Robert and his partner Stacey the confidence to practice the techniques used at their sessions at home. On a daily basis they sing the songs with signs they have been taught and as a result, Oliver has engaged and begun signing back.

Oliver's development has not only been noticed by his family, but also by other educational and health agencies that are involved in Oliver's care.

Due to the help, support and advice Oliver's family has been given through SFP, Robert has decided to pay the goodwill forward by fundraising for the school.

He will be running four half-marathons over the next few months, starting with Coventry on Sunday 19 March followed by Lichfield on Sunday 7 May, Ashbourne in July (date to be confirmed) and finishing with Nottingham's very own Robin Hood half-marathon on Sunday 24 September.

SFP's work has proven a godsend not only for little Oliver, but also for his family, who get the incomparable pleasure of watching their son grow, learn, prosper and have fun under the tutelage and supervision of the best possible teachers and carers. And you can't put a price on that.

And this amazing work extends to hundreds of other families across the UK, whose lives have been changed for the better thanks to the SFP.

Notts County have fallen to a 3-0 defeat at Stevenage on Saturday which puts them just five points above the bottom two in League Two.

Matty Godden's double sandwiched Jack King's strike as the hosts earned a seventh win in eight games.

The result also sees the Magpies' unbeaten run come to an abrupt end after a renaissance of sorts under Kevin Nolan.

Notts County's official site has published the video of the highlights from the game at the Lamex Stadium, so you can see for yourself if you haven't already.

Notts County climbed eight points clear of the League Two relegation zone thanks to a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle in Tuesday's fixture at Home Park.

Jorge Grant made the most of a defensive calamity in the Pilgrims back line to put the Magpies into a 21st-minute lead in Devon, and impressed for the remainder of the game.

The result sees Notts climb to 19th in the table on 37 points, and with second-from-bottom Leyton Orient struggling to get out of trouble on 29 points from 34 games - the same as Kevin Nolan's team - it means that March's fixtures could see us finally secure safety once and for all.

Kevin Nolan's Notts County successfully retained their unbeaten home record during the 'new era' at Meadow Lane during a goalless draw against Yeovil Town.

In a game with few chances for either the Magpies or travelling Yeovil Town, Jorge Grant forced a save in the opening minutes when he conneted with a clever pass from Notts winger Mark Yeates. Yeovil Town themselves struggled to create chances after showing little ambition going forward.

Despite the lack of quality from the opposition, Notts failed to trouble the visiting keeper Artur Krysiak despite further chances from Grant from set peices.

Notts continued to ask questions of Yeovil's defence early in the second half, with yet again on-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder Jorge Grant looking their best hope of a goal. The midfielder saw a deflected shot hit the side netting, before Yeates tried his luck with a close-range shot which was beaten away by Krysiak.

Yeovil Town lacked any real direct efforts which virtually left Adam Collin nothing more than a spectator.

However, Alex Lawless nearly scored late on when he placed a shot which forced the Magpies keeper to make brilliant save as he tipped it away. Leaving both sides forced to settle for a point in a drab encounter.

Mark Cooper secured Notts County's first home win of 2016, and first under his reign, as a much improved magpies' score late goal against Stevenage.

Jon Stead volleyed home for magpies' in the first half, however his spectator effort was ruled offside.

Stevenage's Fraser Franks produced their best best chance of the game from Chris Whepldale's free-kick, but Notts keeper Scott Loach saved superbly. With time running out, Liam Noble rifled into the corner from the edge of the area to give County the points.

The defeat left Stevenage 22nd in the table, but nine points clear of the relegation places with five games remaining, while County climbed to 18th.

Jamie Fullarton’s reign as the first team manager of Notts County came to an end, as the magpies' saw another home defeat to the hands of Exeter City.

The final score 4-1, which saw fans take to protesting after the game.

Pride of Nottingham took the time to speak with four fans regarding concerns expressed in recent weeks by the supporter base. Firstly their thoughts on the decision by Ray Trew to sell the club, along with talk of 'administration' and relegation looming over some fans minds. Have a watch of our future and see what was said prior to the game against Exeter City.

We are now at Episode 3 with the Pride of Nottingham PONcast and we are delighted with the progress made so far. These early shows have helped us to get to grips with the production, allowing us to work on the principles we set outright when we began Pride of Nottingham many moons ago.

Joe Jones and I have been enjoying discussing Notts, as we have throughout our involvement with doing the Pride of Nottingham website, and we are delighted to bring yet another feature to the Notts County community.

We have an on-demand service for folks to catch up with these features, which can be found on the PONcast website.

You can subscribe to the PONcast show by downloading any of the major Android apps, the likes of ‘Podcast Addict’, ‘Podcast Republic’ or even the ‘Pocket Casts’ app which I highly recommend.

You can also subscribe via Itunes for all IOS devices, including Iphones, Ipads and Mac computers.

In addition, we are on the popular TuneIn Radio app, which is available on multiple platforms including Windows handheld devices.

To-date, we have 3 main shows available, one PONcast Extra and the introduction episode we released at the very beginning.

Weymouth based Magpie Alan Hargreaves and his wife Debra is planning an extraordinary journey for charity this summer. The couple are very keen cyclists as it is, but this journey is on a slightly different level to Weymuff’s usual 14 mile commute to work on his bike every day.

Their plan is to cycle the length of Britain from Land’s End in deepest Cornwall to John O-Groats, right at the top of Scotland. A trek of over 990 miles!

Two weeks have been scheduled for the journey starting on 28th June 2015, with the plan being to average 75 miles per day.

They are doing this trip to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of Wilf Hargreaves, who sadly passed away in August of last year.

Pancreatic Cancer has the lowest survival rate of any cancer, and the charity tries to make a difference by providing information and support to those who are affected by the disease, and funding vital research which goes into helping find a cure for this horrible disease.

Alan and his wife are hoping to raise at least £500 from their venture, and so far they have raised £235 since opening their fundraising page.

It’d be fantastic if the Notts County family could help them towards their target, and any donations - no matter how big or small, will be gratefully accepted, and would be a massive help.

The link to Alan & Debra’s fundraising page can be found below, and it includes regular updates on their preparations and training, as well as further information about their chosen charity, and of course information on how to donate.

Please take the time to visit their page and make a donation if you can to support a fellow fan.

Good luck Weymuff. Be sure to give it a big “You Pies” when you cross the finish line.

Since coming to Meadow Lane two years ago, Ronan Murray has quickly established himself as one of Notts County’s first-choice players. The young Irishman originally signed to the club on a short-term contract as one of four successful trialists in 2013, but he went on to play a key role in helping the Magpies avoid relegation from League One with nine goals in 16 starts.

Of course, there was the odd setback, most notably the red card on the quarter-hour mark of that Peterborough United game, but the mark of a true professional is learning from your mistakes and proving doubters wrong – and Murray did just that.

Pride of Nottingham has spoken to the 23-year-old hotshot about Notts County’s season.

What have you made of the game so far?

Well I think we've played well, I think Paddy McCourt's done well for us, he's really been our best player. He looks bright, so hopefully he will continue in the second half and keep giving the ball to him basically.

What time do you think the full score will be?

Well hopefully we can get back into it, hopefully the gaffer can give them a good talking too and they'll come out flying in the second half really. As I say keep giving the ball to Paddy and Jam on the right and hopefully they can make things happen. Hopefully Bajner and big Garry up there and can do the business in the box. So, hopefully we can come back from this and we need it, we need it at home – like seven in the last eight are obviously not good enough so, we need to get the fans our side here.

Have you been enjoying your time at Notts?

Yeah, yeah, I'm loving it. Loving it really, this season hasn't really set off for me but hopefully I will have a good end to it.

Is there any news on your injury?

Yeah I just had a scan on it yesterday it, on my groin, so hopefully the results come back all clear and then I can crack on with training. There's just a few questions over it, scan is clear I can take it from there.
