<p>
	Notts County manager Neal Ardley has issued an update on the estimated return times for Lewis Alessandra and Enzio Boldewijn.
</p>

<p>
	The two attacking players suffered knee injuries in November and are sidelined on a long-term basis, but their new boss is positive to see them back early next year.
</p>

<p>
	"It will probably be three weeks before Lewi is back into training, so he's edging ever closer," Ardley told the official Notts website.
</p>

<p>
	"Enzio could be back in and around training from the very end of January to mid-February. With the type of injury he's had you just have to play it by ear.
</p>

<p>
	"We'll push to get them back soon but we need to make sure they don't break down again."
</p>

<p>
	Up next for Notts is a trip to Grimsby Town in the first of five games between this weekend and the 5th of January.

<p>
	Kevin Nolan has suggested that he spoke to Alan Hardy about a potential return to Notts County in the past few weeks but "it never got to dotting the i's or crossing the t's".
</p>

<p>
	The former midfielder was sacked by the Magpies and replaced by Harry Kewell, who was himself let go after 14 games.
</p>

<p>
	Neal Ardley then came on board at Meadow Lane in November after he had parted ways with AFC Wimbledon by mutual consent.
</p>

<p>
	The Wombles have since hired Wally Downes, and Nolan says the job was not right for him after moving his family up to Nottingham in the summer while still in charge at Meadow Lane.
</p>

<p>
	Nolan told the Times: "I had to be honest with them. It would have been tough. I would have been a long, long time away from my family again and it would have taken a lot of hours to get it where it needed to be."
</p>

<p>
	He described the news of his sacking by Notts County owner and chairman Alan Hardy as a "slap in the face" but, after Kewell was sacked, Nolan said they "had a chat".
</p>

<p>
	"That was it," he said. "At no time in my eyes was it an interview and I didn't go and see him because I wanted the job back.
</p>

<p>
	"I don't think I needed to sell myself. People can probably read between the lines, but it never got to dotting the i's or crossing the t's."

<p>
	Notts County duo Matt Tootle and Ben Hall have been ruled out through injury, manager Neal Ardley has confirmed.
</p>

<p>
	Neither defender took part in the Magpies' EFL Trophy game against Sunderland, which finished as a 2-0 win to the Black Cats.
</p>

<p>
	Both players suffered their injuries last week, with Hall requiring a scan but Tootle being spared that, added Ardley.
</p>

<p>
	"I think Matt is fine and it’s just a case of him not feeling the pain and doing the rehab to get back," the new Notts boss told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“We had a little bit of an upset with Ben who rolled his ankle in a game last week on my first day.
</p>

<p>
	“He is another one who is having a scan, so we are just going through one of those spells at the moment.”

<p>
	Neal Ardley has commented on the history that Notts County have in "getting through managers left, right and centre" as he gets his tenure under way.
</p>

<p>
	The former AFC Wimbledon manager is the third permanent manager to take a place in the Magpies dugout this season.
</p>

<p>
	Kevin Nolan got the season under way, before being sacked in place of Harry Kewell, who was then in turn dismissed to eventually make room for Ardley.
</p>

<p>
	Indeed, the 46-year-old is the club’s 24th manager in 20 years on Wednesday, but he says it doesn't bother him.
</p>

<p>
	“When you talk about Notts getting through managers left right and centre, you have to believe in yourself,” he told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“You have to say I can do this and not give them reason to want to get rid of me. So that doesn’t bother me.”

<p>
	Another matchday, another disappointing result as Notts County let a one-goal lead slip en route to a 1-1 draw with Carlisle United.
</p>

<p>
	In Steve Chettle's last game in interim charge, the Magpies were once again poor, but held out in the first half to remain level with the travelling Cumbrians.
</p>

<p>
	Notts went on to take the lead just after the hour mark, however, as Noor Husin's effort was cleared off the line before Elliott Hewitt reacted to stab home.
</p>

<p>
	But is it much of a surprise that things then didn't pan out? Not really, given the continuing narrative of this season.
</p>

<p>
	With just six minutes of standard time, Carlisle loanee Jerry Yates headed home to salvage a point for the visitors.
</p>

<p>
	ARLukomski, a teenage Notts fan who's had to put up with enough more football-related grief to last a thousand lifetimes by supporting the Magpies, speaks about the game in his latest vlog.

<p>
	Notts County have announced that teenage forward Kion Etete has signed professional terms at Meadow Lane.
</p>

<p>
	The 17-year-old, who celebrated his birthday today, made his senior debut against Newcastle United’s Under 21s in October’s EFL Trophy game.
</p>

<p>
	Etete has since come off the bench in away games at Port Vale, Barnsley and Morecambe and is now looking forward to playing under new boss Neal Ardley.
</p>

<p>
	“Being around the first team has been a great experience for me and now I’m just going to be doing all I can to show the new manager what I can do,” Etete told the official website.
</p>

<p>
	“Under 23s matches will give me the chance to prove myself against older players from a higher level and I can still play for the Under 18s, which will keep me up to speed.
</p>

<p>
	“It feels quite surreal as this is just the start of my day. I’ve got my first driving lesson and a Premier League Cup fixture against Southampton coming up later!”

<p>
	Now heading into its seventh year, Pride of Nottingham has long been the main Notts County community on the internet, bringing thousands of fans together to discuss everything black and white.
</p>

<p>
	With Christmas on the horizon, we have decided to go a step further and begin selling exclusive Notts-themed prints, the perfect present for your Magpie-supporting family members and friends (or for yourself if you want!).
</p>

<p>
	Simply <a href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/store/" rel="">click on our store link</a> and you can see all the prints we currently have available, and some of the featured designs include Jimmy Sirrel, Jack Wheeler, Meadow Lane and some very neat Magpie artwork!
</p>

<p>
	<strong>So, what inspired PON to begin selling these prints? Chris, the site's owner and manager, explains:</strong>
</p>

<p>
	"A friend suggested selling prints and merchandise after he drew a picture for me that I now use as my display picture.
</p>

<p>
	"I though it was a good idea and I have worked with three talented people to create stunning designs.
</p>

<p>
	"The main goal is to support PON financially but I have hopes of improving the site further with custom work, so the sale of prints would help secure the sites future but also make it better."
</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2018_11/46134114_1061031827401822_8488070079546654720_n.gif.c2f842c85e8a24f183f8386e71adcf3e.gif" data-fileid="940" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="940" data-unique="e3nmhcstz" src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2018_11/46134114_1061031827401822_8488070079546654720_n.thumb.gif.ae46fa7638943640684ba2d0af534b5c.gif" alt="46134114_1061031827401822_8488070079546654720_n.gif" data-ratio="93.33" loading="lazy"></a>
</p>

<p>
	<strong>And why should you, as a Notts fan, consider buying these prints? </strong>
</p>

<p>
	Here is what Chris has to say:
</p>

<p>
	"I feel these designs stand out very nicely, I have tried to focus on the current players but also legends.
</p>

<p>
	"I am delighted with the prints and feel Notts fans will love having them hung up in their homes.
</p>

<p>
	"It also helps to support a fan site that costs quite a bit to upkeep and these will take a personal burden off my shoulders.
</p>

<p>
	"In turn they will be supporting an independent Notts fan site which works hard towards promoting the club and providing a pleasant environment for supporters to chat and express their feelings."
</p>

<p>
	These wonderful, unique pieces of football memorabilia make an ideal gift for friends and family.

<p>
	Caretaker manager Steve Chettle has admitted that Notts County's players were "gutted" after being pegged back late on against Morecambe.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies took the lead early in the second half when a cross from the right was nodded beyond Mark Halstead's reach by Kristian Dennis on 52 minutes.
</p>

<p>
	However, a late scramble in the box culminated in Kevin Ellison turning the ball home after a goalmouth scramble following a corner and a final result of 1-1.
</p>

<p>
	“The lads are gutted and I told them that I was disappointed for them,” Chettle told the Nottingham Post. “Being that way after only getting a point is good.
</p>

<p>
	“Being disappointed when you know you can do better is not acceptable and we said that after the Cheltenham game. It is a step in the right direction, but it’s still only a point.
</p>

<p>
	“Cheltenham winning means we are still playing catch-up so we need to win game after game. But a point is a small step and I will take small steps until we get to the big step at the end.”

<p><img src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2018_11/ardley.jpg.ffbb6c3e6f916a74b45b83345d8af0b9.jpg" /></p>
<p>
	Notts County have appointed former AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley as their new manager.
</p>

<p>
	The 46-year-old becomes the Magpies' third manager of the season, following the sackings of Kevin Nolan in August and Harry Kewell earlier this month.
</p>

<p>
	Ardley saved the Dons from relegation to the National League on the final day of the 2012-13 season before taking them into League One via the playoffs three years later.
</p>

<p>
	"Having enjoyed very productive discussions with Neal and following close consultation with the board and key staff, I am very confident we have selected the right man to deliver our short and long-term targets," Hardy told the official website.
</p>

<p>
	"Our biggest priority is preserving our proud status as the world's oldest Football League club and in Neal we have someone who knows what it takes to survive.
</p>

<p>
	"Neither he nor I are under any illusions it's going to be easy but we are both confident of achieving this very important aim.
</p>

<p>
	"Beyond that, Neal has demonstrated an ability to win promotion from League Two and sustain a club at a higher level. I hope, in time, he will be able to deliver the same for us."
</p>

<p>
	Ardley, who left Wimbledon earlier this month and will be assisted by Neil Cox, added: "I would like to say a huge thank you to the chairman for giving me the opportunity to manage such a magnificent club.
</p>

<p>
	"There are few clubs who could have tempted me into such a quick return to management following what was obviously an emotional departure from Wimbledon, a club I love dearly.
</p>

<p>
	"But the chance to manage Notts County is one I couldn't let pass and I will come back from my break fully refreshed and determined to drive us up the table."

<p>
	Teenage defender Declan Dunn has signed his first professional contract with Notts County.
</p>

<p>
	The 18-year-old made his senior debut for the Magpies in the 4-0 FA Cup first round defeat away at Barnsley and has been a regular in reserve fixtures this term.
</p>

<p>
	Dunn joined the Notts academy at Under-10s level and spoke proudly of the latest development in his fledgling career.
</p>

<p>
	“I came in after the Barnsley match and Paul asked me to come into the office and told me I was being offered a contract,” Dunn told the club website.
</p>

<p>
	“It’s a massive weight lifted off my shoulders because it’s something I’ve wanted for a long time and I’ve worked hard for it.
</p>

<p>
	“I’m happy that I’ve been showing enough and now I need to keep pushing in reserve games and getting as much first team-action as I can.
</p>

<p>
	“It’s a really good thing for myself and my family.
</p>

<p>
	“I’ve been here for eight or nine years so I’ve seen a lot of coaches come and go but the staff and the players around me have always made me want to push hard to improve.
</p>

<p>
	“I’ve played at Meadow Lane in the FA Youth Cup but not for the first team so that’s my aim for the rest of this season.”

<p>
	Steve Chettle has called on Notts County's players to carry their momentum from their 4-2 win over Doncaster Rovers into the weekend League Two encounter against Cheltenham Town.
</p>

<p>
	Wednesday night saw the Magpies produce somewhat of a shock result in the EFL Trophy as they surged into a 3-0 half-time lead against Rovers and, despite shipping two goals, they added one more for the solid win.
</p>

<p>
	Chettle was pleased to see Notts get through into the second round after finishing second in Group G behind Newcastle United's reserve/youth side but was equally eager to claim a much-needed win in terms of going into league action.
</p>

<p>
	“I was very pleased to get through,” he told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“We need to win football matches, we need to get momentum and need to get into good habits and break the habit of losing games.
</p>

<p>
	“Winning will hopefully kickstart us when we get to the Cheltenham game at the weekend.”

<p>
	Notts County have confirmed the departure of Harry Kewell after just 14 matches in charge.
</p>

<p>
	The Australia legend signed a three-year contract to replace Kevin Nolan at Meadow Lane in early September.
</p>

<p>
	Despite a bright run early on in his tenure, performances and results have since slumped, and the Magpies sit 22nd in the table.
</p>

<p>
	“Results have not been good enough and performance levels are a continuing concern,” chairman Alan Hardy told the club website.
</p>

<p>
	“We see no reason to continue with something we don’t think can work.”
</p>

<p>
	Steve Chettle will take temporary control of County’s first team, with the club hoping to announce a permanent replacement ahead of Saturday’s game with Cheltenham.
</p>

<p>
	Kewell, who left Crawley to join the Magpies, departs alongside assistant manager Warren Feeney and first-team analyst Paul Murphy.

<p>
	Notts County boss Harry Kewell has claimed that Kristian Dennis is "100 percent capable" of reaching double figures and most likely just needs to up his match fitness.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies forward has been drafted into the starting XI following injuries to Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings, but has found the going tough against Port Vale and Oldham Athletic.
</p>

<p>
	“I do have sympathy with him,” Kewell told the Nottingham Post. “But he is a fantastic player and he knows the role.
</p>

<p>
	“He’s come up against three centre-backs or two, but he knows what he’s got to do.
</p>

<p>
	“He’s probably just missing that little bit of match fitness. If he can get that, then fantastic. We’ve just got to keep going, keep giving him confidence and keep giving him chances.
</p>

<p>
	“He’s a great player and a great lad. He wants to score goals so let’s see if we can deliver that to him.
</p>

<p>
	“He is 100 percent capable of [reaching double figures], but I suppose we are all shy of a little bit of confidence.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has revealed that Jon Stead and Kane Hemmings are unlikely to play a part in Saturday's FA Cup game at Barnsley.
</p>

<p>
	Stead has a leg injury which has caused him to miss the last two games, while Hemmings picked up a hamstring problem which forced him to sit out Tuesday’s goalless draw against Oldham Athletic.
</p>

<p>
	“They are going well and their fitness is good,” Kewell told the Nottingham Post on Friday.
</p>

<p>
	“Their injuries are getting better but unfortunately I don’t think they are going to be right for this game.
</p>

<p>
	“We will take it to the wire to see if they have a chance, but we feel like they will not take part in the game.
</p>

<p>
	“It’s a big loss because they are good players, but I am confident about the players who have come in for them.
</p>

<p>
	“For me, it’s an opportunity for others to show their worth and try to give me a problem.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has claimed that Notts County need more time to click to his methods but insists he is "happy with the way the team is going".
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies are back in a poor run of form following the bright spell just before the international break, but on the plus side they are unbeaten in their last two.
</p>

<p>
	That said, Port Vale really should have been beaten last weekend, while a lacklustre Oldham Athletic threatened to take all three points at Meadow Lane in midweek.
</p>

<p>
	“I am happy with the way the team is going,” Kewell told the Nottingham Post in his pre-match presser ahead of the FA Cup trip to Barnsley.
</p>

<p>
	“We just need to take some care with our passes. We maybe need to play that little bit quicker instead of inviting challenges.
</p>

<p>
	“We get into some good positions but take three or four touches when it should be one and two then a pass.
</p>

<p>
	“It just allows the opposition to get a little bit closer to make a challenge and then we make a mistake.
</p>

<p>
	“It’s just practice and the great thing about this squad is they love the challenges I throw at them. I put them under pressure but again it just takes time.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has admitted that Oldham Athletic's forward line will be a "challenge" for Notts County's defence.
</p>

<p>
	The two sides meet up on Tuesday night in a League Two game rescheduled due to international commitments on the Latics' part.
</p>

<p>
	In his press conference, Kewell also spoke about individual players such as Richard Duffy, Jon Stead and Ben Hall.
</p>

<p>
	“It’s going to be a challenge for my back four,” the Australian told the official Notts site.
</p>

<p>
	“They have two big, aggressive strikers and tricky wingers who cross the ball well but aren’t scared to cut inside for a shot at goal.
</p>

<p>
	“They aren’t in the best form but they’re strong in a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 so it’s important we win the midfield battle and create - and take - chances.”
</p>

<p>
	On the players, Kewell said: “Duffy is a player with great experience and he’s a big character at this club so it’s great to have him in contention again.
</p>

<p>
	“We have to be patient with him so we can't rush him back, and the same goes for Steady who missed Saturday’s match as a precautionary measure.
</p>

<p>
	“Jon faces a fitness test ahead of Oldham so we’ll wait and see if he’s available, while we should have Ben Hall back in training next week which is excellent news.”

<p>
	Jon Stead has admitted that Notts County are "not taking opportunities at key moments" in games and must develop a "killer instinct and ruthless streak" if they are to climb back up the League Two table.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies are just one place above the relegation zone after suffering three successive defeats in the league to Bury, MK Dons and Swindon Town, with Port Vale coming up.
</p>

<p>
	“We are not taking opportunities at key moments in the game and when they have gone begging, the tide has turned in matches a bit,” Stead told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“That’s when we are coming unstuck. The manager has pointed out those chances we are getting need to be taken.
</p>

<p>
	“We’ve had a little bit of bad luck with some decisions along the way, but you get them so you can’t moan too much.
</p>

<p>
	“We need to get that killer instinct and ruthless streak into our game and when we do we will be putting teams to bed which will give us more confidence in the way we are playing.”

<p>
	Notts County have announced that teenage winger Sam Osborne has signed a professional contract with the club.
</p>

<p>
	The 19-year-old has made six senior appearances for the Magpies, most recently turning out against Newcastle United’s Under 21s in the EFL Trophy.
</p>

<p>
	“I came in the morning after the Newcastle game and Mark Crossley told me Paul (Hart) wanted to speak to me,” Osborne told the official website.
</p>

<p>
	“He told me there and then – he said I’d been doing really well and that I deserved it.
</p>

<p>
	“Now I just want to carry on being in and around the first team and push for a spot. I’ll be training hard every day and looking to show what I can do week in, week out with the Under 23s."
</p>

<p>
	Osborne, who joined Notts from Dunkirk Colts, added: “As a winger, I love getting at players and trying to create for the team.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has admitted that Notts County need to bring in another "leader".
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies invested heavily in the summer transfer market but remain third from bottom in League Two, having lost their last three games.
</p>

<p>
	Kewell, who replaced Kevin Nolan early in the campaign, would like to recruit a player who can add to the leadership brought by Jon Stead and Elliott Ward.
</p>

<p>
	“We have a leader in Steady and we have Wardy who has great potential,” the Australian told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“We have Milly who is a talker, but we are needing that leader. If we can get it, we will get it.
</p>

<p>
	“I am angry because we lost [to Swindon Town last week] and God knows how. But that’s football.
</p>

<p>
	"We have to lick our wounds and concentrate on Port Vale this weekend because it’s a huge game.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has warned his Notts County players that any lapses in effort and concentration could mean being offloaded in January.
</p>

<p>
	The Australian oversaw a five-game unbeaten run of two draws and three wins but the upturn in form gave way to three straight defeats.
</p>

<p>
	Speaking after the 2-1 loss to Swindon Town, where the Magpies took the lead only to be pegged back and eventually beaten, the manager suggested that he had to "scare" his players into form.
</p>

<p>
	“If they don’t want to play my style, they don’t want to work hard and don’t want to fight then January is just around the corner," Kewell told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“Swindon maybe had a third of the game and what we were doing in the first half, we stopped in the second. I don’t know why.
</p>

<p>
	“We knew their only danger was Matty Taylor crossing the ball, which we stopped in the first half, but we then allowed him to do it three or four times in the second.
</p>

<p>
	“That becomes laziness so they must be tired and can’t play to my level. That means we look and make sure we have players who want to do that.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has confirmed that Notts County will appeal Jamie Turley’s red card at MK Dons as a one-match suspension looms on the recent new signing.
</p>

<p>
	Referee Michael Salisbury caused uproar when he dismissed the centre-back for a professional foul in the 59th minute following a challenge on Rhys Healey which earned Paul Tisdale’s side a penalty.
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies were leading 1-0 at the time through Lewis Alessandra but Chuks Aneke scored the resulting spot kick before the franchise went on to secure the victory through Healey’s strike.
</p>

<p>
	“We will appeal the red card and I am sure he will be playing on Saturday,” Kewell told the Nottingham Post.
</p>

<p>
	“When you look at it in slow motion it looks as if their player slips. It was an embarrassing decision.
</p>

<p>
	“I just don’t see what he has seen. I have seen the challenge from four different angles.
</p>

<p>
	“In the meantime, we have to concentrate on getting that anger out and concentrate on the Swindon game this weekend.”

<p>
	Harry Kewell has admitted that Notts County were "very, very poor" in their 4-0 loss at Bury and will be desperate to make amendments following the "horrific performance".
</p>

<p>
	The Shakers were impressive at Gigg Lane while Notts were lacklustre, a combination which meant for a one-sided game in which the hosts ran riot and scored two goals per half.
</p>

<p>
	“We were poor throughout the whole match,” Kewell told the Notts website. “We knew what Bury were good at and had a process in place to counteract their style but we didn’t do it.
</p>

<p>
	“We looked good in training all week but what we did at Gigg Lane did not reflect the work we had done to prepare. We were very, very poor. The boys have to take responsibility and hopefully it was just an off day.”
</p>

<p>
	“What we did out there was a poor excuse for defending. We sat off them and gave them an open path through to our goal.
</p>

<p>
	“The idea was for a man to sit in the middle of the park and cut their attacks off but it never happened.
