<p><img src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2023_03/articleimage.jpg.bbdc071ae76f6d5421d4c7058e46a8fb.jpg" /></p>
<p>
	Notts County's hopes of securing promotion to the English Football League suffered a setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw away at Barnet in the National League.
</p>

<p>
	Despite taking the lead through Macaulay Langstaff, the Magpies were unable to hold onto their advantage and were pegged back by a powerful header from Idris Kanu.
</p>

<p>
	The first half was evenly contested, with both sides creating a few half-chances but failing to trouble the keepers.
</p>

<p>
	However, Notts County finally broke the deadlock just before half-time when Ruben Rodrigues produced a moment of magic with a wonderful pass that Langstaff swept home with ease.
</p>

<p>
	The lead was short-lived, though, as Barnet hit back almost immediately with Kanu's header off the crossbar. The second half saw Notts County dominate proceedings as they looked for a winner, but they were thwarted time and again by Barnet's defence and the heroics of their goalkeeper, Laurie Walker.
</p>

<p>
	Rodrigues came close to restoring Notts County's lead when his deflected cross found Langstaff in space, but the striker's effort was saved by Walker. The Magpies continued to pile on the pressure in search of a winner, but they were unable to find the net again and had to settle for a draw.
</p>

<p>
	Despite being held to a draw, Notts County remain in contention for automatic promotion to the English Football League, sitting just three points behind league leaders Wrexham, who have a game in hand.
</p>

<p>
	With several games remaining in the season, the Magpies have ample opportunity to close the gap and secure their promotion to the EFL. They will be focused on picking up points quickly and performing at their best to achieve their goal.

<p>
	In a hard-fought victory over Eastleigh, Ruben Rodrigues scored two goals to bring Notts County within one point of National League leaders Wrexham.
</p>

<p>
	At half-time, the Magpies were trailing to Danny Whitehall's penalty, but the Portuguese player equalized and then scored to put his team in front. Macaulay Langstaff added a goal to seal the win, putting pressure on Wrexham who have a game in hand.
</p>

<p>
	Both teams had early chances, with Joe McDonnell saving shots from Rodrigues and Jodi Jones for Eastleigh, while Tiernan Brooks denied Whitehall for County. The game was tightly contested, with both sides showing their attacking prowess.
</p>

<p>
	Despite Eastleigh's early dominance, Whitehall's penalty was their only goal of the game, and County fought back admirably. They levelled the score on the hour mark through Rodrigues, who scored after being set up by Langstaff following Aaron Nemane's run.
</p>

<p>
	Rodrigues then put County in front 14 minutes from time with a well-placed shot, before Langstaff secured the win with a header late on. The victory was a crucial one for Notts County in their pursuit of Wrexham at the top of the table.

<p>
	Notts County's Macaulay Langstaff was the hero of the day as he secured a crucial National League comeback victory over Dorking with his brace, helping his team return to winning ways and keeping the pressure on league leaders, Wrexham.
</p>

<p>
	Dorking took an early lead after just 13 minutes, thanks to Jason Prior's near-post finish following Josh Taylor's excellent play. However, Langstaff, the National League's leading scorer, responded quickly for Notts County just six minutes later. He was in the perfect position to convert Aaron Nemane's cross and level the scoreline.
</p>

<p>
	Langstaff continued his brilliant form in the second half, completing his brace just seven minutes after the restart. He now boasts an impressive tally of 35 league goals this season.
</p>

<p>
	Although Langstaff missed out on his hat-trick, Notts County remained relentless in their pursuit of goals. They came close to scoring on several occasions, with Langstaff himself firing the ball over the bar from the edge of the box. However, the hosts' pressure eventually paid off as Matt Palmer scored with five minutes left on the clock, securing the victory and three vital points.
</p>

<p>
	With this result, Notts County remains second in the league table, trailing Wrexham by just four points, after the league leaders secured a narrow 1-0 win over Southend earlier on Saturday.

<p>
	In a crucial National League match, Notts County faced Bromley at Hayes Lane, desperately needing a win to keep their promotion hopes alive. However, they got off to a shaky start when keeper Tiernan Brooks was penalised for a foul in the 19th minute, and Adam Marriott converted the resulting penalty to put Bromley ahead.
</p>

<p>
	Notts County tried to get back on level terms, but their efforts were in vain until injury time. Ruben Rodrigues played a perfectly weighted pass to Macaulay Langstaff, who is the National League's top scorer, and he clinically finished past the goalkeeper to secure a point for Notts County.
</p>

<p>
	This point briefly lifted Notts County back above leaders Wrexham to the top of the table, after having lost to Dagenham &amp; Redbridge in the previous weekend.
</p>

<p>
	However, Wrexham regained the top spot by the end of the evening, although with only a single point difference, after they themselves conceded a late equalizer to drop two points at Maidenhead.
</p>

<p>
	Despite the draw, Notts County remained in contention for promotion, and Langstaff's 33rd goal of the season was a significant boost to their chances. In the remaining minutes of the game, Notts County pushed hard for a winner, but Langstaff was denied a penalty shout that could have given them all three points.
</p>

<p>
	Overall, it was a tense and exciting match, with Notts County showing great character to secure a crucial point away from home. They will now have to regroup and prepare for their next match, where they will be hoping to pick up all three points and keep the pressure on Wrexham at the top of the table.

<p>
	Notts County, the National League leaders, suffered a surprising 2-1 home defeat against Dagenham &amp; Redbridge, who were without a manager following Daryl McMahon's departure the night before.
</p>

<p>
	The unexpected loss brought an end to Notts County's amazing 25-match unbeaten run. They had not lost a game in the league since 17 September.
</p>

<p>
	The Daggers, led by Steve Gritt and Dave Jupp, managed to halt Notts County's second seven-match winning streak of the season.
</p>

<p>
	Notts County took the lead in the 21st minute through Ruben Rodrigues' 14th goal of the season. However,
</p>

<p>
	Angelo Balanta equalised for Dagenham ten minutes later. Although Jodi Jones and Macaulay Langstaff hit the post for Notts County, they were unable to convert their chances.
</p>

<p>
	In the 86th minute, second-half substitute Inih Effiong scored the winner for the visitors, despite five minutes of added time and a frenzied goal-line scramble.
</p>

<p>
	The 7,441-strong home crowd was left disheartened, as Notts County's lead at the top of the table was reduced to just two points over second-placed Wrexham. Wrexham, who have two games in hand, could overtake Notts County and go top if they win their next match against Chesterfield on Tuesday night.
</p>

<p>
	The Daggers' victory was their second consecutive win, which lifted them to 10th place in the table, within three points of the play-off contenders.

<p>
	Notts County continued their unbeaten league run with a 4-0 win over Southend United. The win extended their lead at the top of the National League to five points.
</p>

<p>
	Macauley Langstaff and Sam Austin were instrumental in the home team's seventh straight win, with each of them scoring a brace.
</p>

<p>
	Langstaff scored his eighth goal in his last five games. In the 18th minute, he latched onto a perfectly-weighted pass from Ruben Rodrigues.
</p>

<p>
	Austin doubled the lead for Notts County just before half-time with a well-placed header from John Bostock's cross.
</p>

<p>
	Langstaff and Rodrigues combined again in the 56th minute, with the former scoring his ninth goal in five games with a superb finish from a tight angle.
</p>

<p>
	Austin completed his brace with an emphatic finish in the closing stages of the match, securing the home team's third successive match with four goals.
</p>

<p>
	Despite the comfortable win, Notts County must still be wary of second-placed Wrexham, who remain in the hunt for the top spot with two games in hand. In their latest match, Wrexham secured a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe with the help of two penalties.
</p>

<p>
	Notts County will be looking to hold onto their lead at the top of the table, while Wrexham will be hoping to close the gap and challenge for the title in the coming weeks.

<p><img src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2019_02/0_Craig-Mackail-Smith.jpg.4389a1cfa78dca60c498044a6342bb70.jpg" /></p>
<p>
	Well folks, the outlook is looking a lot better now - seven points from the last three games, all against top sides in League Two, and the cherry on top - local bragging rights over Mansfield Town and a first league win over them in 13 years!
</p>

<p>
	Saturday's early kickoff saw the Magpies host the Stags at Meadow Lane and Neal Ardley's side began brightly before taking the lead in the 19th minute when Rob Milsom's cross was touched into the path of Mackail-Smith by Virgil Gomis, and the on-loan Wycombe man volleyed home from 20 yards.
</p>

<p>
	Notts continued to push forward as Jon Stead went close with a header which went just wide, while Enzio Boldeiwjn had a pop but it was straight at Mansfield goalkeeper Jordan Smith.
</p>

<p>
	Although David Flitcroft's side stepped up a gear in the second half, with Nicky Ajose and CJ Hamilton both trying their luck to no avail, the visitors never really threatened Magpies loanee stopper Ryan Schofield, with not one shot on target registered.
</p>

<p>
	Indeed, Notts had a great chance to kill the game off late on when Kane Hemmings just failed to connect with a Mitch Rose cross, but unlike last season, this time Notts held film and claimed all three points to to one point within safety ahead of this afternoon’s League Two fixtures.

<p>
	Finally, FINALLY Notts County have put in a display worthy of the fans' time and money AND yielded a great result. Could this be another formative step in the Greatest Escape?
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies went to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday for a tricky-seeming League Two fixture and left the New Lawn with all three points courtesy of a 2-1 win.
</p>

<p>
	Notts began brightly against the side managed by their former boss Mark Cooper as Nottingham Forest loanee Virgil Gomis forced FGR keeper Mark Lewis into a save early on.
</p>

<p>
	Enzio Boldewijn put in a superb display as he weighed in with efforts and set up Gomis for an effort which bundled the side netting, though the first half finished all level.
</p>

<p>
	The breakthrough came in the second half when Jim O'Brien made the most of a poorly cleared delivery to send a half-volley into the back of the Rovers net.
</p>

<p>
	Although the hosts drew level through a good Joseph Mills free kick on the edge of the box, Boldewijn delivered a moment of magic  when he picked up a Lewis Alessandra pass and drove into the top corner.

<p>
	It's now getting seriously concerning at Meadow Lane as Notts County have now slipped six points from safety after losing 1-0 to Cambridge United on Saturday.
</p>

<p>
	Despite a bumper crowd at the San Sirrel and an opponent in the lower reaches of League Two, the Magpies once again failed to put up a good enough fight, and a record of four wins from 28 games has relegation written all over it.
</p>

<p>
	Notts weren't at the races for much of the first half, although Kristian Dennis came close to opening the scoring with a shot on the turn from Elliott Hewitt's delivery midway through.
</p>

<p>
	However, they fell behind on 41 minutes when Greg Taylor rose to meet George Maris’s corner at the back post and headed across goal beyond the reach of debutant goalkeeper Ryan Schofield.
</p>

<p>
	Neal Ardley's side threatened on the stroke of half time, though, when Jim O’Brien’s long-range effort was tipped around the post by U's stopper David Forde.
</p>

<p>
	The best chance for the hosts came in the second half when Dennis connected with Cedric Evina's delivery but the ball rolled right across the goalline, and that was pretty much it as Colin Calderwood's side held out for the win.

<p>
	Not the best way to start a new year, but then again 99% of this season has been a complete flop for Notts County so really, why expect things to change?
</p>

<p>
	The Magpies, buoyed by their performance against Bury last time out, took to the Oldham pitch with the same starting XI and things were initially promising in the League Two New Year's Day clash at Boundary Park.
</p>

<p>
	Following some good pressing from the visitors, Cedric Evina weighed in with the first opportunity of the game when he fired a first-time effort over the bar.
</p>

<p>
	Pierce Bird, the young defender who was superb against the Shakers, then came so close to the opener when his header was cleared off the line by Gevaro Nepomuceno.
</p>

<p>
	At the other end, Callum Lang tested Ross Fitzsimons with an effort from a tight angle and the Latics began growing into the game as Jordan Lyden crossed from the left for Mohamed Maouche to blast wide.
</p>

<p>
	Just five minutes before the break, Tom Hamer's miscued cross from the right was too heavy and sailed over everyone - but in true Notts 18/19 style, dipped into the far corner of Fitzsimons' net for the hosts' opener.
</p>

<p>
	Things then turned worse minutes after the restart when Johan Branger-Engone delivered a freekick for Captain Peter Clarke to bundle home, and then finished on the sourest note as substitute Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain was sent off for a second yellow card.

<p>
	Some pros and some cons at Meadow Lane this afternoon as Notts County failed to beat Bury, with Jon Stead missing a penalty, but put in a much-improved performance that saw warm applause by the Black &amp; White Army at full time.
</p>

<p>
	Neal Ardley had clearly talked some sense into his ailing players as they were bright from the off, with Rob Milsom going close with heading wide before rifling wide from just outside of the box, while Shaun Brisley also came close.
</p>

<p>
	David Vaughan then smashed the post with a superb effort from long range, while Kristian Dennis and Andy Kellett missed gilt-edged opportunities before the break, giving the Notts fans something to smile about - something which hasn't really happened often this season.
</p>

<p>
	In the second half, Bury picked up the pace as Chris Stokes headed just wide, but Notts soon regained the momentum and were given a superb opportunity from the spot when Andy Kellett's cross was handled in the box
</p>

<p>
	Stead, County's top scorer with eight goals this season, took to the spot, but this time, Mr Reliable spurned the opportunity as he shanked his effort way over the bar into the Kop.
</p>

<p>
	Notts did dust themselves off and continued to impress, with Matt Tootle seeing a half-volley palmed away by Bury goalkeeper Joe Murphy, but in the end, the spoils were shared at the San Sirrel, with Notts three adrift of safety.

<p><img src="https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/uploads/monthly_2018_12/Rock-Bottom.jpg.77deae5e479a9ebe36d91d9e549512e7.jpg" /></p>
<p>
	Well, it's finally got to that stage. Notts County are bottom of the Football League.
</p>

<p>
	Macclesfield Town, managed by one-time Magpie Sol Campbell, put in a display that overshadowed the hosts at Meadow Lane and claimed a 2-1 win which saw them leapfrog Notts off the foot of League Two.
</p>

<p>
	Frankly, it's the same old story. An overall turgid display, the odd good moment following the equaliser where County looked as though they would go into the lead, only for shoddy defending to prove our downfall.
</p>

<p>
	The Silkmen actually got the ball into the back of the net on 16 minutes, only for some deliberation by the officials to eventually chalk the goal off for offside.
</p>

<p>
	But there wouldn't be any disputes in the 36th minute when Scott Wilson rattled home the opener, making the most of plenty of space to apply a good finish past Ross Fitzsimons.
</p>

<p>
	Against the run of play, the second half did bring a leveller for Neal Ardley's side when good hustling from Jon Stead lead to Keston Davies squaring for Kane Hemmings to drive home.
</p>

<p>
	But it just wouldn't be the Notts class of 2018-19 if they weren't to shoot themselves in the foot, would it?
</p>

<p>
	Wilson, picked out by a teammate, once again had the freedom of the area to sweep the ball into the bottom corner of the net nine minutes from time.
</p>

<p>
	Although the Silkmen saw a man sent off late on, the numerical advantage was chalked off as Davies was then shown a straight red card for firing the ball into an opposition player's face while on the ground.
</p>

<p>
	Well, Merry Christmas everybody.
</p>

<p>
	Following the drama that was 2017, the great escape, the promotion form of the following season, 2018 has crumbled like... well, our defence.
</p>

<p>
	Faltering form, failure in the playoffs, and this season, spending Christmas in the bottom two with a team that is frankly shambolic.
</p>

<p>
	Grimsby Town are hardly setting the division on fire, yet they ran out 4-0 winners over a Magpies side that, aside from being dreadful, offers no hope of actually putting things right, making the non-league a real possibility.
</p>

<p>
	The Mariners got off the mark after just over the three-minute mark, youngster Harry Clifton heading home on the rebound from Harry Cardwell's initial effort
</p>

<p>
	Notts then did enjoy a period of pressure but spurned their opportunities and before the break they fell further behind through Harry Davis, who rose highest to head home.
</p>

<p>
	Michael Jolley's side never looked back as Davis claimed his second and Grimsby's third, while Wes Thomas fired home on the volley to truly ruin the Black &amp; White Army's Christmas.

<p>
	Notts County have successfully stopped the rot with their first League Two victory since October as they withstood being twice pegged back to win 3-2 against Tranmere Rovers in Saturday's clash at a freezing Meadow Lane.
</p>

<p>
	Jon Stead gave Neal Ardley the perfect start in his maiden Magpies home game in charge as, on 33 minutes he was on hand to finish off great work from Kane Hemmings and Dan Jones, who rolled the ball across the face of goal for his veteran colleague to tap home at the back post.
</p>

<p>
	However, the Birkenheaders were level just five minutes later as Jonny Smith marauded down the right-hand side before drifting into the box to curl a low shot beyond Notts keeper Ross Fitzsimons.
</p>

<p>
	Just before the break, Stead was once again involved as he won the ball in Tranmere's penalty area to swing a cross into the path of Kane Hemmings for a first-time finish and the restoration of the lead.
</p>

<p>
	So it stood at half time but once again, the ugly head that is County's farcical defending popped up yet again as Rovers equalised for the second time in the match when Connor Jennings made his way into the area to nod home a cross from the right, the Notts defence bamboozled.
</p>

<p>
	Luckily, Stead provided yet another crucial moment as Nathan Thomas was felled by Mark Ellis' clumsy challenge and the veteran forward stepped up to take the penalty, making no mistake to hammer home from 12 yards.

<p>
	Sigh...
</p>

<p>
	Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong for Notts County in the first half of this season has gone wrong.
</p>

<p>
	You can add defeat in the Nottinghamshire derby to that as Mansfield Town ran out 2-0 winners against the Magpies at Field Mill in Neal Ardley's League Two debut for his new side.
</p>

<p>
	In all fairness, the stats do favour the Stags (58% possession, 17 shots, 7 on target) but aside from possession (42%), Notts didn't seem to have done too badly themselves on that front (10 shots, 5 on target, 4 corners).
</p>

<p>
	But once again it's that old chestnut of poor defending that saw Mansfield get themselves on the scoresheet and claim three points and bragging rights (once again).
</p>

<p>
	The first half was a fairly exciting affair, with both sides trading blows, but it was the hosts who drew first blood on 37 minutes as Mal Benning lofted the ball to the far post from the left and CJ Hamilton turned home.
</p>

<p>
	The goalscorer then rattled the Notts crossbar early after the restart as the Stags began the second half on the front foot.
</p>

<p>
	Eventually, Hamilton doubled the lead on 63 minutes, making a mockery of the visitors' defence - including a Cruyff turn in their box - to fire home low from 10 yards after Mellis had fed him from the right.

<p>
	Not great, but much better. Notts County put in a much improved performance against Morecambe at the Globe Arena today, but they relinquished a one-goal lead late on for a 1-1 final score.
</p>

<p>
	The first half was pretty dour and with little to write home about, save for a good Kristian Dennis one-on-one chance which Mark Halstead skilfully kept out.
</p>

<p>
	In the second period, Morecambe stepped up and Ajay Leitch-Smith threatened, while Liam Mandeville having an effort tipped behind inside the first five minutes.
</p>

<p>
	Notts went on to take the lead, however, a cross from the right being nodded beyond Halstead's reach by Kristian Dennis on 52 minutes.
</p>

<p>
	Nathan Thomas almost doubled County's lead when he saw a fierce drive parried to safety by the opposition goalkeeper, while Morecambe stepped up in a bid to salvage something from the game.
</p>

<p>
	And salvage something they did, when a scramble in the box culminated in Kevin Ellison turning the ball home after a goalmouth scramble following a corner.
</p>

<p>
	Five minutes of injury time were played out, during which Jamie Turley was called out by the opposition players for an alleged handball, but nothing was given as the spoils ended up being shared.

<p>
	Notts County fans have seen a lot of displays over the last few years that can be described as "the worst performance" they've ever seen and on Saturday there was another contender.
</p>

<p>
	The day's opponents, Cheltenham Town, were hardly setting League Two alight prior to kickoff but they ended up securing a 3-0 victory against a Notts side that was frankly diabolical.
</p>

<p>
	Steve Chettle had masterminded a decent 4-2 win over Doncaster Rovers in midweek and the hope was that something similar could have been conjured up against a not-particularly-good opponent.
</p>

<p>
	But with Notts fans having had more false dawns than a picture book of sunrises in recent years, it was no surprise that the Magpies would find themselves trailing at the break.
</p>

<p>
	Prior to the half-time whistle it wasn't a particularly exciting game - frankly it was like watching Sunday league - but as poor as the Robins were, they still ended up taking the lead in a way we've all seen before.
</p>

<p>
	Ryan Broom's cross was met by the unmarked Luke Varney, who headed home the opener on 35 minutes with the Notts defence's one job - defending - clearly not done.
</p>

<p>
	Ross Fitzsimons arguably emerged with credit as Chris Hussey was denied by the stopper after yet another defensive botch job.
</p>

<p>
	County made a tactical switch at half-time as they changed from three at the back to 4-4-2 but things only went worse from then on as Varney claimed a second with a corner that, once again, bamboozled the Notts back line.
</p>

<p>
	Tyrone Barnett eventually wrapped things up late on with a scuffed finish from close range which, not for the first time this season, led to a premature Black &amp; White Army exodus.

<p>
	Another weekend, another completely dispiriting Notts County performance that leaves you feeling deflated.
</p>

<p>
	Although the Magpies were not expected to win against Barnsley - a team currently sitting fourth in the League One table - in the FA Cup, they were at least expected to put up a fight.
</p>

<p>
	And to a degree they did, as they hung on to their clean sheet until the break, and in the second minute they even got the ball into the back of the net, only for Rob Milsom's free kick to be chalked off for offside.
</p>

<p>
	But the Tykes did begin getting into their stride during the first half and, shortly after the restart, they managed to break the deadlock.
</p>

<p>
	On 48 minutes, Fulham loanee Cauley Woodrow latched onto Cameron McGeehan's through ball - Elliott Ward effectively helped the ball on its way - and volleyed home after getting beyond Jamie Turley.
</p>

<p>
	It was 2-0 five minutes later in the 53rd minute when the hosts efficiently switched the ball from left to right and a low cross from Brad Potts was slotted home from inside the area by full-back Zeki Fryers.
</p>

<p>
	Brad Potts went close to converting Kieffer Moore's low cross in a let-off for Notts before the pair combined again and this time the former tapped home from inside the six-yard area for game, set and match.
</p>

<p>
	By this point the Black and White Army had all but given up hope of even forcing a replay and the final nail in the coffin came on 81 minutes as Moore added a fourth, nodding home a left-wing cross from two yards out.
</p>

<p>
	But hey, at least we can concentrate on the league, right?!

<p>
	Notts County once again failed to impress on the pitch as they could only play out a 0-0 draw against fellow League Two strugglers Oldham Athletic at Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.
</p>

<p>
	Sure, Harry Kewell's side claimed their first clean sheet in a month and now have two points from their last two games.
</p>

<p>
	But really, they should have beaten Port Vale at the weekend and they were truly lacklustre against the Latics, another side they should have put away.
</p>

<p>
	As it turned out, Oldham let rip with 19 efforts against Notts, six of which were on target, won nine corners and were generally dominant in the game.
</p>

<p>
	Indeed, County had Ross Fitzsimons to thank for keeping the Latics at bay, while Jamie Turley once again bailed his side out with a goalline clearance and a superb tackle on Ishmael Miller.
</p>

<p>
	At the end, the hosts could very well have clinched all three points at the death when Enzio Boldewijn hit the foot of the post, but in the end the result was a stalemate which does little for both sides.
</p>

<p>
	Nonetheless, the result lifted Notts a point further away from the relegation zone, thanks to their first clean sheet since the 1-0 win at Macclesfield a month ago.

<p>
	The brief revival is just a memory now - the five-game unbeaten run has given way to two defeats on the trot and a renewed ringing of the alarm bells as Notts County loiter dangerously above the Notts County drop zone.
</p>

<p>
	Unlike the horror show at Bury last Saturday, the Magpies put in a much-improved performance, but if it isn't the players that screw things up, then chances are it'll be the officials as in tonight's case.
</p>

<p>
	Notts went to MK Dons, a side flying high in the fourth tier, and went toe to toe with the controversial Buckinghamshire-based franchise, both sides crafting chances in the early stages.
</p>

<p>
	The visitors took the lead midway through the first half when Lewis Alessandra had a pop from around 20 yards out and, via a slight deflection, got the better of goalkeeper Lee Nicholls, who conceded his first goal in over 430 minutes of football.
</p>

<p>
	In the second half, however, came the sucker punch for Notts as Rhys Healey was adjudged to have been bundled over in the County box - a seemingly innocuous challenge from Jamie Turley was deemed enough for a red card by referee Michael Salisbury.
</p>

<p>
	Up stepped Chuks Aneke and the MK man rolled the ball past Ross Fitzsimons for an ill-deserved equaliser.
</p>

<p>
	On 70 minutes, Notts conceded the losing goal as Dean Lewington's short corner found Healey at the front post, who in turn found the roof of the Notts net from an incredibly tight angle, leaving a thoroughly bitter taste in the mouths of the Black &amp; White Army.

<p>
	What a shame that Notts County weren't in action last week due to the Oldham game being postponed... they had won three League Two games on the bounce and were unbeaten in five, but with the momentum gone, the Magpies proceeded to lose 4-0 away at Bury.
</p>

<p>
	The Shakers were impressive at Gigg Lane while Notts were lacklustre, a combination which meant for a one-sided game in which the hosts ran riot, with their first concrete chance coming after just seven minutes when Danny Mayor was in a superb position, only for Cedric Evina to get back and thwart the effort.
</p>

<p>
	No such luck on 11 minutes when Bury did manage to get their noses in front, some good link-up play down the left culminating in Callum McFadzean whipping a dangerous low cross across the six-yard box for Nicky Maynard to poke home at the back post.
</p>

<p>
	Seven more minutes and it was 2-0 to the home side as Mayor attempted to beat Ross Fitzsimons with a cheeky backheel, and although he didn't succeed, the effort deflected to Maynard, who knocked the ball into the path of Dom Telford for an easy close-range tap-in.
</p>

<p>
	Notts manager Harry Kewell made two changes at the break as Kane Hemmings and Elliott Hewitt came off for Kristian Dennis and David Vaughan, but to little avail as Bury continued to be on top in most aspects, with Maynard once again having a pop early on after the restart, though Fitzsimons saved on this occasion.
</p>

<p>
	Goal number three came on 65 minutes, and this was from the penalty spot as Matt Tootle hacked down Telford, prompting referee Carl Boyeson to show the Slugman a yellow and point to the spot. Jay O’Shea stepped up to take the spot-kick, firing the ball into the bottom left-hand corner past a stationary Fitzsimons as County's fate was effectively sealed.
</p>

<p>
	There was yet time for more misery as, late on in the game, Nicky Adams cut in and took the ball beyond multiple defenders before rifling a long-range effort into the back of the net to send Notts home with their tail between their legs.

<p>
	Notts County's dreadful start to the season now feels an age away.
</p>

<p>
	Three wins in a row and five games unbeaten now has the Magpies up in 17th place in the League Two table, four points clear of the bottom two, a superb turnaround given they were bottom of the table on just one point a month ago.
</p>

<p>
	The latest victory is also County's first win away from home this season as Macclesfield Town, themselves still struggling and currently at the foot of the league, were beaten 1-0 at Moss Rose.
</p>

<p>
	The first half of the encounter saw little in terms of eventful occurrences, though the Silkmen had the better of the game up until the half-time whistle, with more possession and efforts on goal.
</p>

<p>
	Ross Fitzsimons had to be alert to save from Nathan Blissett early on before Kane Hemmings prodded straight at goalkeeper Kieran O’Hara on the stroke of half time.
</p>

<p>
	The stalemate continued into the second half, though Enzio Boldewijn and Stead had claims for a penalty waved away, before Nathan Blissett headed just wide of the post from a free kick.
</p>

<p>
	Just as it looked like a draw was on the cards, centre-back Fiacre Kelleher gifted possession to Boldewijn, who bore down on goal, and O'Hara brought the Dutchman down for a penalty.
</p>

<p>
	Stead stepped up and sent O'Hara the wrong way eight minutes from time to give Notts a late lead and, eventually, all three points.
