  10. Notts County have been diabolical all season (save for like five or six games) but Saturday really took the biscuit as the League Two trip to Cheltenham Town ended in a humiliating 4-1 defeat. The hosts' opener at the Jonny Rocks Stadium came just before the half hour mark when good work on the right from Ben Tozer and Kevin Dawson culminated in Charlie Raglan crossing for Will Boyle to head home. Cheltenham then doubled their lead on 36 minutes when Billy Waters broke into the area, was taken down by Craig Mackail-Smith, and Luke Varney drilled the resulting penalty low to goalkeeper Ryan Schofield's right. Worse was to come as Waters added a third after the break, and although Kane Hemmings did get one back from the penalty spot, Tyrone Barnett added a fourth shortly before full time to kill Notts off. ARLukomski was at the game, once again suffering beyond how a normal football supporter should suffer - here's his account of the day. 14. 12 more fans/people required before the raffle closes on the 27th. In the coming months you will start to see the difference the fundraising does to help the site, a lot of hard work and dedication goes into PON. Getting the old site standards back is our goal and funds will help ensure this happens.
  15. It just wasn't to last, was it? Notts County's good recent run of form, which culminated in the superb 1-0 win over Mansfield, had us to the point we could come out of the League Two relegation zone with victory over Newport. Instead, revert to type. A 4-1 home defeat to a side 15th in the standings and we're still bottom. Fraser Franks opened the scoring before a Jamille Matt brace put the Exiles 3-1 ahead at the break despite Kane Hemmings's early equaliser. And in true Magpie style, any hopes of possibly launching a comeback, snuffed out as Padraig Amond scored directly after the restart in the second half. Pride of Nottingham vlogger ARLukomski was at Meadow Lane to experience his hopes crushed like everyone else in the home stands - here's his account of the evening. 17. Saturday's early League Two kickoff saw Notts County host Mansfield Town at Meadow Lane and claim their first league win over the Stags in 13 years in a 1-0 win. Neal Ardley's side began brightly before taking the lead in the 19th minute when Rob Milsom's cross was touched into the path of Mackail-Smith by Virgil Gomis, and the on-loan Wycombe man volleyed home from 20 yards. Notts continued to push forward as Jon Stead went close with a header which went just wide, while Enzio Boldeiwjn had a pop but it was straight at Mansfield goalkeeper Jordan Smith. Although David Flitcroft's side stepped up a gear in the second half, with Nicky Ajose and CJ Hamilton both trying their luck to no avail, the visitors never really threatened Magpies loanee stopper Ryan Schofield, with not one shot on target registered. Indeed, Notts had a great chance to kill the game off late on when Kane Hemmings just failed to connect with a Mitch Rose cross, but unlike last season, this time Notts held film and claimed all three points to initially move to one point of safety - now two - with one game in hand on the two sides above them. Pride of Nottingham was at the San Sirrel for the brilliant derby win - see if you've made it in this week's Faces of PON! 20. Well folks, the outlook is looking a lot better now - seven points from the last three games, all against top sides in League Two, and the cherry on top - local bragging rights over Mansfield Town and a first league win over them in 13 years! Saturday's early kickoff saw the Magpies host the Stags at Meadow Lane and Neal Ardley's side began brightly before taking the lead in the 19th minute when Rob Milsom's cross was touched into the path of Mackail-Smith by Virgil Gomis, and the on-loan Wycombe man volleyed home from 20 yards. 23. Finally, FINALLY Notts County have put in a display worthy of the fans' time and money AND yielded a great result. Could this be another formative step in the Greatest Escape? The Magpies went to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday for a tricky-seeming League Two fixture and left the New Lawn with all three points courtesy of a 2-1 win. Notts began brightly against the side managed by their former boss Mark Cooper as Nottingham Forest loanee Virgil Gomis forced FGR keeper Mark Lewis into a save early on. Enzio Boldewijn put in a superb display as he weighed in with efforts and set up Gomis for an effort which bundled the side netting, though the first half finished all level. The breakthrough came in the second half when Jim O'Brien made the most of a poorly cleared delivery to send a half-volley into the back of the Rovers net. Although the hosts drew level through a good Joseph Mills free kick on the edge of the box, Boldewijn delivered a moment of magic when he picked up a Lewis Alessandra pass and drove into the top corner. 24. Following two weeks off and some deft reinforcements in the January transfer window, Notts County put in a much improved performance in Saturday's 1-1 draw with League Two promotion chasers Lincoln City at Meadow Lane. The Magpies began superbly and were ahead after just two minutes when they won a penalty with their first meaningful attack, Harry Toffolo fouling Jon Stead, who was trying to get on the end of Mitch Rose's cross. Referee Antony Coggins pointed to the spot and the veteran striker, who had missed a penalty in front of the Kop against Bury during the festive period, made no mistake from the spot this time around. However, just before the break, Bruno Andrade drew the visitors level with a 20-yard strike that goalkeeper Ryan Schofield could not keep out, and come full time, the scoreline remained as such for a share of the spoils. Pride of Nottingham was at Meadow Lane for County's draw with Lincoln, as always interacting with fans and taking pictures. 25. Ahead of Notts County's big League Two derby against Mansfield Town, the Stags have announced that more tickets were allocated for their fans for the game on Saturday 16 February. Mansfield had sold their initial allocation of 3,954 tickets but were then allocated another 328 tickets which have now also sold out. The Stags were also issued with the following statement from Notts County Football Club: “There will be strictly no tickets available to buy on the day. Please do not travel to the match without one. “Any Mansfield Town supporters found to be in home areas will be ejected from the stadium without refund and will not under any circumstances be relocated to the away supporters’ section.” With Neal Ardley's side having put in a much improved performance against Lincoln City after some reinforcements were brought in during January, there is more optimism around the fixture from the Black & White Army's point of view.
