  1. Once settled in, Big Dave should be able to prove himself. He scored some good goals for Derby and shone in one of their weakest teams for years despite their hands being tied. I think McGoldrick joining our squad would be similar, but with more confidence and ability behind us.
  2. This is like talking to my neighbour Frank. He could have written all that in two tweets, keeping the same sentiment as his message but saving everyone from reading the waffling parts.
  3. Good luck to Dion Kelly-Evans. I hope he finds a club that will play him. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Gateshead or Bromley expressed interest.
  4. I thought it was a good read, from an interesting blog.
  5. I am pleased with the signing of McGoldrick. He brings a wealth of experience, quality and passion to the team. I believe he will make a significant impact for us this season and help us achieve our goals. His addition to the squad is a positive development and I am looking forward to seeing him in action.
  6. I agree with @menzinho. I don’t think we will lose our captain and certainly not to Stockport County. Jim O’Brien will almost certainly sign a new deal. Rumours say he’s been travelling to Ireland and Scotland to spend time with his family. I think Aaron Nemane owes us nothing and will see any real interest as a temptation. He deserves a chance to play at a higher level. Likewise with Ruben Rodrigues, you can almost certainly feel it’s slowly happening.
  7. Scott Arfield? At what point did he play for Rangers? If he had a few seasons in the Scottish top flight, he could be interesting.
  8. Welcome, @MagpieLane. There's plenty to do here and the articles are top notch, excellently written!
  9. A grown adult? I really hope he doesn’t have any children because it’s a pretty stupid and childish thing to do. Unless he’s lying that it was done for a bet.
  10. Jack Grealish was always going to be a star. I am surprised people are still going on about it. When he established himself in Villa’s team it happened, when they went up via the Championship it happened. When he had a good season with Villa and got called up to England, it happened. When he joined Manchester City it happened. It’s quite boring now.
  11. Welcome! @Sirrels County. It's good to see you joining in on PON.
  12. Welcome! @calw_111, good to see you on PON.
  13. I think Jodi Jones would be playing with Coventry if it were not for his problems in the injury department; they must have found it difficult to release him. Oxford United might not fit his playing style; you have to be a good ball-playing team to get the most out of someone like Jodi. He is one of those players who puts their soul into playing, especially when fans sing his name. He has a very good talent and will be someone we need to protect and use well when adapting to League Two.
  14. Some players develop later in their careers - it’s not always a clear-cut path. Others may struggle with adapting to the responsibilities of being a professional footballer. When things are going well, it’s easier to stay in control, but when times get tough, it doesn’t always work out on your first, second or even third attempt.
  15. I am not bothered about how the results go; I will be firmly focused on how we perform and even then it’s about getting fitness. It would be a positive thing if Notts can gain some confidence from these games and our promotion; it could be off to the races.
  16. Good coach, but I think he's flawed somewhat as a manager. Everyone has their opinion, but I think a good manager knows you can't concede too many goals.
  17. We still need to cut out the errors, such as failing to defend a lead or dominating a game, to be pegged back by a goal before we even score. The high press is more a means to control the game, the defenders need to stay switched on. I think we leave too few back, the system of an extra body in midfield is fine but on the counter or against set pieces it will be exposed unless you have 3 alert centre backs.
  18. Alfreton is a fairly close game, and fans can travel there by car, train or bus without any hassle. I'm personally really looking forward to it.
  19. Excellent player! He's a good capture by Notts, easily their best player and one who should fit in with Luke Williams tactics. It's a very exciting signing.
  20. He wasn't anything special but tried, it was one of those desperate gamble loans typical of that era's owners. Derby must have been laughing when we took him on loan.
  21. Welcome to the community and PON, @Lydia.
  22. After quickly glancing through the content, I find it quite fascinating. I can't help but wonder if it will feature his distinctive cinematic flair. It's truly wonderful to see Shane Meadows returning to television, demonstrating his outstanding writing skills.
  23. A dependable and committed option, he consistently gives his all. As someone who passionately embodies the black and white spirit, it is truly exciting to witness his continued presence. His unwavering loyalty makes him a reliable choice, and his dedication to the cause ensures a steadfast performance.
  24. I am eagerly anticipating witnessing the lads triumph over Forest in this encounter, as they possess several high-quality players, which would pose an excellent challenge for our team. It would only be fair, though, if Forest commit to fielding a majority of their first-team players for the match.
  25. It's absolutely brilliant to have Sam on board, I think some supporters have severely underestimated his capabilities, and while there might be wobbly moments here and there, he's leagues ahead of other keepers we've had in the past. I mean, just compare him to the likes of Ross Fitzsimons - no contest, really. Top stuff, that. So, let's get behind Sam and give him our full support!
