  1. I hope not, are there options for emergency transfers / loans given that we may start to run out of players? Also, the above twit only says he injured, is the 'rest of the season' part somewhere else?
  2. Balancing out yesterday's astounding 3.. it's 5 today. I didn't help myself with my 4th guess though! Wordle 866 5/6 ???? ???????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  3. Unusually good today!! Wordle 865 3/6 ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  4. I can't see why they wouldn't be looking to buy / invest. I think they have access to much bigger funds than they let on, and I think their management style lends itself to owning a stable of teams. That may help all the clubs as they can loan / sell players between themselves.
  5. My partner found them terribly distracting, and once the light began to fade (only slightly) the reds and yellows really became dominating and possibly had more of an illuminating effect than the floodlights. I am sure floodlights aren't meant to be distracting, so these advertising boards shouldn't either. I really don't like them at all.
  6. Surprise!! 4 again. Wordle 864 4/6 ???????? ???????? ???????????? ????????????????????
  7. They had more trouble at the weekend with a fan removed and arrested for racial abuse of a Newport player. Also, they have recently been handed down a fine for a couple of incidents last year. They could be looking at points deductions at this rate.
  8. I think we need to mix things up a bit. I don't have a problem with the short corners, but not all the time. We don't have the height to launch it into the centre, but there are other options other than the short pass. At the end they stuck 3 / 4 men about 7 yards from the corner and immediately pressured the receiver, and the next man forcing us back to Slocombe. Occasionally putting one long or to the edge of the box would give them something else to think about and mean they couldn't commit so many men to the short corner. Mind you, their corners were just as successful as ours resulting in 0 goals, but we often came away with the ball, so at least we retained possession, but .... When we attacked we did so exclusively down the wings. Wrexham doubled up on Nemane and sometimes had 3 on Jones, which restricted their effectiveness. I think it was a reflection of how good Jones is that he still caused so many issues. The trouble was that when things came to a halt on one wing the ball was recycled back through the midfield, defence and on to the other wing. Wrexham simply drifted their defence from one wing to the other. There was soooo much space in the centre but we never exploited it, we simply continued our pattern of switching wing to wing. This meant Wrexham moved their central defence out to support the full backs and double up on our wingers without fear of being exposed in the centre. Sometimes they were moving in anticipation of the move stalling on one wing, and leaving huge gaps. They sort of formed a dome around their penalty box and allowed us to pass around the top of it, knowing we were never going to make a move through the centre. I think we missed Ruben for once, who would see the gap and have the confidence to exploit it. Crowley and McGoldrick didn't do that as they were tracking over to help the wingers... because they were under pressure and needed 'an out' because Wrexham didn't need to commit to the centre. Against Gillingham, Macari exploited the gap when it appeared, but nobody seemed to want to take the risk this time. My last point was that Wrexham were more prepared to take a shot and take a chance that something would come of it. We seemed to want to score the perfect goal, Their approach led to the deflection and indirectly the second goal (I maintain if thy hadn't scored the first they wouldn't have got the second). Sometimes, it's worth losing possession to give the opposition something else to think about, or roll the dice to see if something different happens. All that said, it was a good game between 2 closely matched teams. we will both be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. I thought our defence was largely sound and Solcombe was excellent. We were let down by those up front, but nothing to get despondent about. We are still learning and we will improve. If we can learn the lesson and be a little less predictable as a result of this experience then I can see us being right up there.
  9. I'm back from a week off... and straight back with the 4s! Wordle 863 4/6 ???? ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  10. You have to pay online, so don't forget! It's slightly cheaper if you set an account up, but you would need to use it regularly as I think you need to deposit £10, Mind you that doesn't expire, so you could use it when we play West Ham and Crystal Palace in the Premiership in a few years time!!. You could also wait until 10pm, then it's free!! That leaves plenty of time to celebrate!
  11. Back to the standard after the heady heights of yesterday. Wordle 853 4/6 ???????????? ???????????? ????????????????????
  12. Yay.. 3 today! Wordle 852 3/6 ???????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  13. I hope Bostock is OK. We lose a lot when he doesn't play, especially the calm and leadership that he brings to the side. Jones and Cameron are also important, and I feel our chances decrease if either or both of those are missing too. I think it will be a tough old game and I would be surprised if we come away with any more than a draw. I really hope that a defeat doesn't cause unrest and if it does, it really speaks more about the fans than the team. It's my local game and my partner brought the whole family (mainly West Ham fans) tickets for my birthday, so I can't wait.
  14. 4 again.. standard stuff today. Wordle 851 4/6 ???? ???? ???????? ????????????????????
  15. I'm back.. in the interim I think it's fair to say I got a 4... and today? I got a 4!! Wordle 850 4/6 ???????? ???????? ???????????? ????????????????????
  16. I have a Hyundai EV and love it even though the range is only a shade over 120 miles (it forces me to take breaks, but long journeys become very long). I am about to get a new car thanks to work. I looked long and hard at a Tesla, but I couldn't do it for all the reasons above plus I don't like Elon Musk.
  17. Yay - what a relief to be back!! Well done and thank you to everyone for making it happen.
  18. That took a bit of time! Wordle 836 5/6 ???? ???????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  19. You must be full of joy! For myself... I have a birthday 4! Wordle 835 4/6 ???? ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  20. I didn't get to post yesterday, but it was a 4.. today I'm back to 5. The answer came to me in the end, completely out of the blue. Wordle 832 5/6 ???????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  21. You were probably a year above me - Iain Cousins, A brother of my friend was in JD, much to my amusement as my friend was looking forward to a year or so without his younger brother in tow when he joined the Senior School.
  22. You were at the Minster? I was there briefly 1980 - 1982.
  23. I like the one where he is trying to stop the Man City fans getting into the dressing room with a scalpel! I really like that book, it's well worth a read if you haven't yet.
  24. Back to the standard after a couple of wobbly days.. Wordle 830 4/6 ???????? ???????? ???????????????????? ????????????????????
  25. The thing is Horseman is trying to protect his job. They went through 3 managers before him since this time last year. They were relegated and now find themselves at the foot of the table, so he must be feeling the pressure. I think that interview was more about asking the chairman for a bit more time as it was a genuine analysis of the game.
