Notts County have confirmed the signing of former Port Vale captain Carl Dickinson.
The 29-year-old has been unveiled at Meadow Lane this afternoon, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.
A Stoke City academy graduate, Dickinson made his professional debut with the club in 2004 and helped the Potters win promotion to the Premier League, where he played five games.
Dickinson then played for Watford, Portsmouth and Coventry City before joining Port Vale in 2013 and was appointed club captain a year later, making 127 league appearances at the club.
He told the official Notts website: "I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to get going.
"I'm a leader, I like to be loud in the dressing room and get the lads going.
"I'm going to show people I'm a good defender - I don't mind dishing it out a little bit, I'm hard working, wear my heart on my sleeve and give everything, day in, day out."

Notts County have completed the signing of former Wales international Richard Duffy on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old centre-half turned down the offer of a new contract at Vale Park and also rejected a switch to non-league Eastleigh.
Duffy said he had a change of heart when the Magpies came in for him as he becomes John Sheridan's fourth summer signing, on a one-year contract.
He told the Nottingham Post: "I agreed to sign with them but when John called I felt it was a chance I couldn't turn down.
"I hadn't signed for Eastleigh but it was a tough one to turn them down at the end having said yes, I'd move to them.
"John rang and that swayed me because it was the chance to play in the Football League at a big club."
"I hope to bring a bit of experience and leadership."
Duffy, who won 13 caps for Wales between 2005 and 2008, comes to Meadow Lane having spent four seasons at Vale, where he made 136 appearances for the club.

Notts County have completed the signing of former Newport County winger Alex Rodman on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old played 25 times for the Exiles last season in League Two, scoring four goals, and was managed by current Magpies boss John Sheridan.
Rodman cited this as a key reason for joining Notts, telling reporters: "I've worked with him before - he came in when we were having a bad spell at Newport last year and he turned the tide around.
"I know how he works, I know how he likes to play and what he wants from his players, and that was a big factor in me coming here."
Rodman's signing follows that of goalkeeper Adam Collin and full-back Matt Tootle.

Notts County goalkeeper Scott Loach has promised the club's fans that he and the rest of the players will want to right the wrongs of last season.
The Magpies endured a horrendous campaign in 2015-16 as survived relegation in the last few games, finished 17th and suffered a number of high-scoring defeats.
Loach told the Nottingham Post: "There are a few things that the lads who were here last season will want to put right.
"The Mansfield game in particular was one that stands out because we didn't turn up, and that's me putting it nicely.
"The fans are going to want us to redress the balance and so will the players, especially as they did the double over us last season.
"Then there's the Carlisle result, not to mention a few others, so there are quite a few incentives going into those games.
"It's exciting and I cannot wait to get started."

New Notts County signing Matt Tootle has claimed that the Magpies will have a successful season in 2016-17, and that factor was crucial in his choice of club.
The 25-year-old defender, who played for Crewe Alexandra and Shrewsbury Town, pens a two-year deal at Meadow Lane.
He told the official website: "I'm delighted to get (the deal) over the line. It is a massive club - as soon as I heard Notts County were interested.
"I wanted to come to a club I felt would be successful next year. It is a big club and from what I can see, everything that's happening at the club says it's going to be successful next season."

Euro 2016 has, to some extent, proved a welcome distraction from the ongoing circus at Notts County. However, with the recent appointment of John Sheridan, I am quietly optimistic for the new season and what it might bring.
Sheridan has undoubted experience at galvanizing teams - whether bringing sides from the brink of relegation, guiding them to promotion or offering them a shot at the play-offs.
In my opinion, especially after the kick in the teeth of losing Mark Cooper, Sheridan is the perfect tonic to bring the fans on side and give us a real chance of building a winning formula for next season.
His first signing, Adam Collin, is a real coup for the club – Sheridan is already proving he can attract top players to a side in League Two which has an ownership uncertainty hovering over its head and, is coming off the back of a very disappointing campaign.
Other names bandied around such as Jonathan Forte, Alex Rodman and Jordan Bowery are good players to be associated with – so the calibre of player coming into the club should hopefully continue to be of a high standard.
So, taking the new manager and his plans for the club on the field next season into account – I’m very hopeful.
The only cloud hovering over the club at the moment as far as I’m concerned is the situation off the field. Ray Trew has stated that if no deal is struck by the end of June for the sale of the club, then he will continue to take charge and plan ahead for the coming season.
That’s all well and good, but it’s a sticky situation for Ray should he stay. Fans are now aware that he wants out – the club is on the market, and he’s not held back with his thoughts and feelings. A lot of burnt bridges will need to be rebuilt between Ray and the fans if he stays.
Sheridan might be able to unite the players with the fans with talk of a promotion chase, but Ray will undoubtedly have much more work to do in order to win over a significant number of fans next season.
Don’t get me wrong, I do not condone the abuse received by Ray and Aileen Trew last season by a small minority of supporters, but I am concerned about the frosty atmosphere between the fans and the powers that be – should they stay.
For me, Ray will need to prove his loyalty to Notts next season if he doesn’t complete a sale. How he goes about this is his own prerogative.
Financial backing of the manager is a must, as too is an attempt to smooth over the cracks with the fans. He must issue a statement to the fans, with some sort of apology and a rallying cry about us all being ultimately on the same side and in need of pulling in the same direction.
The lack of communication from him in recent weeks and months hasn’t helped his cause – so this might go some way to galvanizing the fans and the club for the new campaign. Nothing is beyond repair, but the way the situation is handled will be the deciding factor for all involved.
Over to you Ray…

Notts County have reportedly enquired about Oldham Athletic striker Jonathan Forte.
The 29-year-old has been offered a new contract by the Latics, but he is yet to agree a deal with the League One side.
According to the Nottingham Post, Magpies manager John Sheridan - who was at Boundary Park last season - is keen to work again with Forte.
The Barbados international has enjoyed three loan spells at Notts in 2008, 2009 and 2012, scoring 13 goals in 29 appearances.

Newport County have confirmed that Alex Rodman has turned down an offer of a new contract at the club, potentially paving the way for a move to Notts County.
The 29-year-old winger, who played under current Magpies boss John Sheridan at Rodney Parade, scored five goals in 34 appearances for the Welsh club during the 2015-16 campaign.
A statement on the Exiles website read: "The Club are aware of media reports linking Alex Rodman to Notts County.
"Although it would be inappropriate for the Club to comment on another club, we can confirm that Club officials have been in dialogue with the player and his representative for a period of time.
"Unfortunately this has resulted in Alex not accepting the offer made to stay with us. As a result we would like to wish Alex all the best for the future."

Notts County manager John Sheridan has claimed that he is hoping to make more signings in the very near future following the acquisition of goalkeeper Adam Collin.
The former Newport County boss has admitted he is looking to strengthen all over the pitch, particularly in defence, but stressed the importance of competition within the squad.
Sheridan told the official website: "I want competition all over the pitch. I don't want anyone thinking they're an automatic choice, that's not the way to be.
"That's not the way I've worked with previous players and clubs. It's all about having competition for places as it will only make you better.
"You can only go so far and offer the deals. I've made offers and I'm positive and confident that one or two will come back.
"Hopefully over the next couple of days or week or so, we'll have a few new faces in."

Notts County's purported move for Plymouth Argyle's Reuben Reid will not go ahead as the Magpies are not interested in the striker, according to reports.
Speculation claimed that Notts were preparing to seal a move for Reid, who played under Magpies boss John Sheridan at Plymouth Argyle, after he was offered to the Meadow Lane outfit.
According to the Nottingham Post, however, Reid is not on Notts' list of targets, with Sheridan reportedly opting to look elsewhere in his bid to bolster the team's front line.
Notts are said to be interested in Jordan Bowery, who played under Sheridan at Chesterfield before being sold to Aston Villa, and has also turned out for Rotherham United and Oxford United.

Notts County are hoping to wrap up a deal for Newport County's Alex Rodman, according to reports.
Fresh from signing goalkeeper Adam Collin, the Magpies are said to be hoping to make the 29-year-old winger their second signing of the summer.
Rodman, who played under Magpies boss John Sheridan at Newport last season, has turned down a new deal with Warren Feeney's side, alerting Notts to his potential availability.
The former Aston Villa trainee, who has played for the likes of Grimsby Town, Gateshead, York City and Aldershot, scored five goals in 34 appearances for Newport during the 2015-16 campaign.
Rodman has already shown what he is capable of to Notts fans, having scored a goal for Newport in their 4-3 defeat at Meadow Lane last December.

Notts County have made their first signing of the summer by recruiting goalkeeper Adam Collin on a two-year contract.
The 31-year-old joins on a free transfer after leaving Championship side Rotherham United, whom he helped to the second tier after playing an instrumental role in their playoff-winning campaign in 2014.
Collin has played more than 200 league games in the past four seasons, one with Carlisle United and three at Rotherham, but he only played twice for the Millers last term, with a further three appearances during a loan spell with Scottish club Aberdeen.
Speaking to the club's website, Collin said: "I am delighted to be here. It's another part of my career that I am looking forward to and I am looking forward to getting started.
"I was out of contract at Rotherham and there was a bit of interest from other clubs. But my agent spoke to the manager here at Notts County and it was a no brainer."
Manager John Sheridan added: "He's a very good goalkeeper. He's got great experience. He's had promotions from this division and he's played at a higher level.
"I'm very pleased to get him, I know other clubs were interested in him but Adam has made the decision to come to us. He will be a really good asset for us."
Notts were previously left with two goalkeeping options on their books as they released veteran keeper Roy Carroll at the end of last season.

Notts County have expressed an interest in signing ex-Port Vale midfielder Michael O'Connor, according to reports.
The former Northern Ireland international,  who was Vale's player of the season in the 2014-15 campaign. is a free agent after leaving the League One club.
According to the Nottingham Post, Magpies boss John Sheridan would like to sign O'Connor and build next season's team around him, but Blackpool are also keen on the player.
O'Connor is said to have been offered a new deal by Port Vale, club but he rejected it because of the two-hour commute.
