Former European champions formally liquidated just a decade after buying 32,609seater new stadium.

WASPS rugby club have been liquidated more than two years after entering administation.

The historic club won the Rugby Premiership on six occasions between 1990 and 2008, and won the European Cup in 2004 and 2007.

 Very sad news. Even the biggest clubs are not safe from going out of business.

I don't shed a tear. Wasps used to play in Sunbury, then moved to Loftus Road, then Adams Park, High Wycombe and then to Coventry..... So their core London support had to travel up the M1 for miles. Coventry RFC were for years, before the professional era, considered one of the top clubs in the country, didnt take too kindly to a "franchise" club turning up on their own doorstep

Worcester Warriors, London Irish too are recent casualties of the professional era. Yet over in France, their professional game is booming.
