  1. A work mate broke this news to me this morning and as soon as he told me how much of the area was cordoned off, I had a feeling it had to be something terrible. Been following updates all day on the situation. Such awful news to hear.
  2. There was always a feeling he wasn't going to be signing a contract with Notts and would be moving away but going to Oxford United wasn't the club I thought he'd go to given all the rumours about where he might end up. It's certainly a surprise that he's chose to go there especially considering where they finished in the league last season. Nevertheless I wish Ruben all the best for the future. He gave his all during his time at Notts and he's signed off by helping Notts get back to the Football League.
  3. @JIMBO Recently left, went there about 2018 after leaving Burnley. Over 300 appearances for Burnley and Rangers combined. FIFA 10 & Football Manager 2010, always made him my first signing from Huddersfield alongside Jordan Rhodes.
  4. Interesting rumour. 100% would take him. Great player with a lot of experience.
  5. It's all well and good saying another good player missed but like any other good player that's been rejected by some clubs only to then become a star they might not have become the player they are today had they not been rejected. Take Gnabry for example. Pulis rejected him at West Brom. He's now a star at Bayern. Lewandowski and Zidane as another 2. Both became stars but had they both moved to Blackburn, would they have been the players they became? Not saying Bowen didn't have potential at the time but maybe he didn't show many signs of becoming the player he is today or what clubs were looking for. There's also players who have great potential and get snapped up only to then fade away and become part of articles on the Internet of "wonderkids who flopped"
  6. @Ohh Tommy Johnson not sure I've heard that one, might have to look into some of the different rules and way they played the game compared to us back in the day.
  7. @Chris you're right he told it how it is. He could certainly work in interviews. He's a wrestler you had to dislike, due to him being a heel, but as you say you begin to take a liking to wrestlers like Sheik and what they did.
  8. @Ohh Tommy Johnson oh yeah absolutely, the MLS back in the day wasn't that great. Although, they did have an interesting way of doing penalty shootouts. Quite liked the way they did them.
  9. @liampie Absolutely. His tweets always ended with a shot at Hulk Hogan. His iconic Camel Clutch.
  10. @Ohh Tommy Johnson it's in Coalville. A work mate of mine is a massive coffee lover. He often brings some in to work, multiple varieties, and is the reason for me moving over to black coffee. Although, since I was ill a few weeks back I haven't really touched much coffee. Have the odd one on a weekend morning or workday mornings when I need that wake up call. If I have coffee at home, it has to be Colombian. That's the good stuff.
  11. There's a place just down the road from where I live called the Coal Bunker. Me and my wife tend to take a trip there every now and again for breakfast when I'm off work and the kids are at school. Hands down the best coffee I've ever had.
  12. The MLS is actually a decent league to watch tbf. Of course there are some games which can be looked at as a poor level of football but with their expansion and more teams becoming involved, it's getting to a decent level. It deserves more credit than it gets. But with the MLS there's more of a level playing field in terms of teams getting players but not able to go above a certain amount of wages due to the MLS franchise owning the rights as opposed to clubs. There is the exception to overseas players though however. As far as I understand it, they can get so many overseas players that are deemed of a certain standard and be able to offer them more than the allowed wages for all others. That's as far as I understand it anyway. Where as in leagues like China and Saudi, they just offer what ever the hell they like and it has little effect. Can't see it becoming any more appealing even with the players coming in. As @Ohh Tommy Johnson said rather than getting aging players they surely can try persuade prime players to come over for that kind of pay day.
  13. @Chris I've not seen too much of it but little bits that I have seen, it's not appealing at all. More than likely there's match fixing involved. I'd be amazed if there wasn't any. https://www.instagram.com/p/CtJdEh1ouFr/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== More players are being rumoured.
  14. Well deserved. I agree @liampie deserves more of a first team opportunity. I've said it for a while now although I do get the need to loan him out for development, which has proven beneficial for him. Hopefully, we'll see him get more of a look in in the future.
  15. Whenever I check out the gossip column on BBC Sport or there's a transfer rumour on social media, there's multiple players being linked with a move to the Saudi League. Some big names being linked to go there as well. Benzema, Lewandowski, Gundogan, Kante, Messi as well as already having Ronaldo in there, who I believe is the start of big name players heading over there for a nice pay day. I personally don't know much about the league myself but all I can think is players are moving over there for the big fat pay day that they are being offered. It almost feels like when the Chinese Super League started gaining attention and got linked with pretty much every single big name player in the world and offering them hefty wages to sweeten deals.
  16. Think there's positives in bringing McGoldrick to Notts. Experienced player who's been there, done that in the Football League and can grab a few goals. Think he'd be a useful addition even if he doesn't start many games.
  17. My wife used to watch Good Morning all the time and she does keep up to date with what's going on via social media etc. She knows a bit more about this situation than I do. From what I have seen, when she's had it on, is that Holly and Phil had great chemistry and always put on a good show. I don't know to much about the situation to really have an opinion on him. But, we all know what the press paper media people are like. They hound people so much when they should really just leave it alone after a bit. Make a story then be done rather than persistently carrying on the onslaught. Take Gazza for instance. All you have to do is watch his documentary on the BBC to see how negatively the media can effect a person's life. Caroline Flack is also an example of the media needing to only go so far with a story.
  18. I'll still keep my eye out on the National League, pretty much always have done tbf. It's a tougher league than most give it credit for but this season has put more eyes on it so I hope that more people also start following as well.
  19. Journeys to and from work are mostly consumed by podcasts for me but there are times I do actually listen to music. I tend to use Alexa, Spotify or YouTube whilst at home but only really listen to music when out in the garden, doing the pots or putting something on for background noise whilst playing games with family. At work we have a radio, although it's basically my radio as I'm the only one that really uses it Radio stations vary for me - Kisstory, Greatest hits radio, Heart 00s or Radio X Classic Rock. I used to have a big CD collection but once the CD player packed in, just got rid of the lot tbf. Before podcasts, I used to listen to music all the time. On my old phone, I had over 1500 songs downloaded which made journeys good as there was a variety of genres.
  20. @AmericanPie I know some people on here don't play it but it doesn't mean people can't get involved there'd still be a voting process for the winner tbf. It might not even take off but it's worth a go ain't it.
  21. Goal of the month starts today. Make sure to record goals that you believe to be contenders for goal of the month then upload them on the 29th of this month. Gives time for a poll to be up before revealing the winner on the 1st of July. We'll start with a max of 2 goals per person. Try get 10 goals in the running. More can be added if needed to complete a 10 goal list.
  22. There's a football equivalent to Wordle based around England players past and present. https://engle.land/ ENGLE 190 3/6 1 https://engle.land @engle_land
  23. @DangerousSausage I tend to think this is the case with German football. It's almost as if these clubs who can't compete with Bayern get the best out of youth players. Develop them and then once they're at a certain level, if none other European team comes in for them, Bayern snap them up and it's nothing of a special price. It's a situation why people enjoy watching lower league football. The championship is an incredibly competitive league. The amount of times that it comes to the final day and anyone from 12th upwards can claim a play off spot. The Premier League has its competitiveness throughout the season but ultimately ends in the same fashion of the same teams getting top with the occasional lesser team managing to get a European place which is a big achievement. It's a shame that clubs fall off as much as they do when they were once competing for the title.
