  1. The changes did make a difference, but I thought some might have been made a bit earlier. I am not questioning Stuart Maynard’s decision. I am just saying that personally, I felt a change earlier could have influenced the game more with more time to go than we ended up with. It was a solid draw, so no complaints.
  2. Not a bad opening round. I will take that and wish everyone else all the best with the second round coming up. It’s all to play for!
  3. Barrow 0-2 Crewe Alexandra Gillingham 1-0 Carlisle United Harrogate Town 0-1 Bromley Salford City 0-2 Port Vale Altrincham 1-1 Woking Boston United 2-3 Rochdale Joker Halifax Town 0-1 Barnet Southend United 0-0 York City
  4. Doncaster’s incredible finish to last season was something special. McCann retaining most of the squad should help in bringing continuity. The defensive setup, led by Richard Wood, is impressive, providing a strong foundation to build upon. The midfield, with the likes of Joe Sbarra and Harry Clifton, looks versatile and dynamic. Upfront, Joe Ironside’s goal-scoring prowess remains vital. The addition of young Chelsea keeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe and the experience of Billy Sharp offers a tantalising mix of youth and experience. With such a blend of talent and momentum, Doncaster may well be the surprise package this season. Can they maintain their formidable finish from last term? That remains the key challenge.
  5. The fact that Cedwyn Scott's overcome such a significant injury to reclaim a pivotal role in the team is truly inspirational. Taking on the number 9 shirt, especially under the weight of Langstaff’s departure, shows Scott’s readiness to embrace responsibility and lead by example. His willingness to adapt to a new playing position while maintaining his goal-scoring ambitions reflects his versatility and determination. This kind of spirit is exactly what a historic club like Notts County needs. Scott’s positive attitude and hard work during pre-season training are promising signs. I believe he will play a crucial role in driving the team towards success this season.
  6. I extend my best wishes to Colby Bishop. I’m relieved that his condition was detected early and promptly addressed. Every life is precious and must be protected.
  7. The start of the season is fast approaching. Some players who we believe should be in the starting eleven are showing promising form. If we can build on this and establish a structure from the final pre-season friendlies, it will be a positive sign going into the opening matches.
  8. To be frank, the signing seems quite ordinary. Given the depth of talent brought in during the transfer window, it’s hard to see how he’ll get a chance to play. His injury history and lack of football are concerning. The decision to sign him appears risky. Can we really afford to have a player sit out the season if the worst happens? It’s a bit disappointing, but I hope this feeling will fade once we see Robbie Cundy in action. I sincerely hope he turns out to be a good signing.
  9. Recently, I’ve begun taking regular walks every two weeks. It’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and make the most of the improved weather. My walks have taken me to places like the Forest, Sherwood Park, and The Embankment. I’m curious, do any fellow PON members also enjoy going for walks, whether regularly or occasionally? Where do you prefer to go for a pleasant walk?
  10. I’m not suggesting that the transfer fee received for Macaulay Langstaff should be spent on anything specific, nor do I expect the board to allocate the funds in any particular way. I want to begin by recognising the significant investments that have been made and how Notts has been wisely utilising funds to enhance the club’s facilities. What I’m asking is, if you had a say, how would you choose to spend the money? Personally, I would consider making one or two high-profile signings to uplift the fan base following the departure of such a star player. I would also contemplate investing some of the money in purchasing land for our training ground. I have no doubt that the money will be reinvested. We may not know the exact figures and might only be able to go off the reported £750,000. For a League Two team, this might not match the fee we would have expected. We don’t know if it’s more, but based on the reported price, I’m curious about how members would like to see it spent?
  11. This story is a testament to the power of football in bringing people together and providing solace during tough times. His passion for Notts County, inherited from his father, is beautifully interwoven with his own life's journey. Despite the challenges he faces, such as his wife Wendy's illness, Ian’s dedication to the Magpies remains steadfast. The special moments he shares with his daughter Paige at matches highlight the joy and unity that football brings. Ian's reflection on his experiences, from his junior Magpie days to commentating at an empty Wembley, captures both the highs and lows of being a true football fan. His story is a poignant reminder of the enduring spirit of the football community.
  12. I don’t think the deal would have been finalised until we began to see leaks in the press. The manager of Millwall appeared somewhat irritated that the news had leaked and reacted as if he wanted to keep it all hushed up. I suspect this was because he wanted to avoid a bidding war, knowing he probably couldn’t compete. Millwall may have shown interest earlier, but I believe Jatta was signed more because the club wasn’t ready to support Junior Morias. With Morias appearing to be on the brink, signing Jatta provided some competition for Macaulay Langstaff.
  13. Ryley Reynolds will likely see less playing time soon. It’s typical for a young player to participate in most of the pre-season. This is when the club begins to consider who to loan out for the upcoming season.
  14. Hello, @lucy80. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I hope you enjoy the community here.
  15. We must allow him time to let the new players adjust. Until now, we haven’t had a transfer window with him, which restricts what can be achieved. I’ve watched two training videos under Maynard’s guidance. He’s evidently a communicator, keen on demonstrating his ideas in action. I’m pleased to back him, as this role is a promotion for him. Despite his past experience, he’ll continue to learn. The club recognises his potential, and I hope we’ll begin to see it throughout this season.
  16. Hello and welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Mark Holland!
  17. Hello and welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @jake008!
  18. Indeed, he has already played for and captained St Johnstone. Was it a wrong decision? Should he have stayed? I think these questions will be answered in due course. My initial impression is that he knows what he wants, and it’s difficult to begrudge him that. I do wonder if he was aware that the club might sell Macaulay Langstaff, and if this is what upset him about losing the captaincy.
  19. Welcome to PON, @Jake.
  20. Welcome to PON, @TimB.
  21. Let’s set our emotions aside and simply wish Macaulay Langstaff the best. It’s dreadful news that we’ve lost him, but every time we sign a talented player, another team will experience the same feelings we’re having now. Football careers are short, so Macca must seize the opportunity. Good luck to him!
  22. If they are aware of the situation, why aren’t they revealing their sources? Or where the confirmation of the move is located? They might be basing their statements on rumours. I’m feeling let down, but I would be pleased for Tiernan Brooks.
  23. @JustLikeJuve Absolutely, I couldn’t agree more. It’s truly uplifting to see Notts bouncing back after the tough times. The increase in numbers is a testament to the collective efforts of everyone involved. The community, fans, and the club all deserve a round of applause for their contributions. The match day experience at Meadow Lane is indeed fantastic, and long may it continue to be a beacon of our success. Here’s to many more years of prosperity for Notts!
  24. I’m chuffed for the club. It shows that stability is yielding results, and with good turnouts on match days, our attendance should remain robust for another season. If the results are favourable, things could improve significantly.
  25. This is indeed sad news. It’s a terrible situation, and I hope those affected can resume their lives once the storm subsides. It won’t be a quick or easy process, though.
