  1. BAck to 4! Wordle 780 4/6 ???????????? ????????????????????
  2. Wow... that is a statement!
  3. The new rules should be good in the end. It was a bit frustrating that Nemane and Cameron (?) were stood on the sideline for what felt like an age (I didn't realise the rules had changed), but I think it will stop players just going down to disrupt the other team. The fact that Arsenal scored so late may also point to the fact that time wasting can come back to bite you and may help stamp that out too.
  4. I really enjoyed the afternoon. Sure the result was disappointing and the performance was 'meh', but it was great to be back in the EFL (even if the ground as worse than several NFL grounds). The fans showed humour and never gave up. I have been giving the match some thought in light of what others thought and what I saw. I think the doom and gloom that you can read in other places is totally overblown and we will be OK in the end. I think we were mentally not at the game, and that was the main difference. When we strung some passes together we showed we are more than good enough for this league. We seemed surprised by the speed, and that may take a bit of getting used to, . Last season we weren't given many close examinations. Even Boreham Wood and Chesterfield were games that we knew we were good enough to win (albeit we nearly contrived not to). I wonder if the fact that us and Wrexham cantered to promotions has meant that our defences aren't as battle hardened as they could be. We will need to learn quickly on this though. I think we will, but it may take a few games. I think once we find our feet, realise we need to be that bit quicker, more accurate and that the challenges will be tougher and more constant then we will start to see last seasons team emerging, Wasn't their number 9 and odious piece of work? He just seemed to be there to wind up fans and players alike; something he did with relish. I felt for Stone. I didn't think he had a lot of choices with the back pass. At the time I thought it was harsh, but seeing the replay I think the decision was right. I'm not sure what else he could have done. The comments he is getting are beyond ridiculous. I think his sending off affected the score (despite what Williams says), but, sadly, I don't think it changed the result.
  5. It could have been 3... too many options at the end and too the wrong one a couple of times. Wordle 779 5/6 ???????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  6. Back to standard! Wordle 776 4/6 ???????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  7. I don't think we will underestimate them - we had plenty of practice last season and hopefully learned our lesson against Dorking. If anyone will prepare the team well, it's Luke Williams.
  8. Wow - I had to read that a few times before I fully grasped it!
  9. I find it hard to predict most matches, so the first game of the season is really tricky. My feeling is that with most of last year's squad still together, and a surprising lack of interest in Macca, I think the relatively short time between the playoff and preseason will see enough of the 'feel good' factor to see us through. I just think it will help us hit the ground running a bit more. It will be an interesting line up. I suspect we won't go with the more compact 4 at the back as we will fancy dominating Sutton, so midfield of Palmer, Bostock with McGoldrick and Crowley ahead, Macca up front (Unless this injury is still bothering him, in which case Scott - I actually think Scott is as good, if not better). I think the back 5 will be the Nemane, Baldwin, Cameron, Brindley and Jones. The subs will be so interesting - Randall, Chicksen, Slocome, Scott, Tipton (?)..but what about Austin, maybe Austin for Scott as he is a little more versatile, or Chicksen? I really have no idea, and I don't get to watch enough games to make a really informed choice, I just think it is very exciting, extremely interesting and I can't wait (even if we do get soaked on the open terrace!!). Score - 3 - 0 to Notts.
  10. That's better!! Wordle 775 3/6 ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  11. Oh no... I would never have got today's. That's the second miss.
  12. Surprise - 4!!! Wordle 773 4/6 ???????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  13. When you become fatigued you are more likely to get an injury, and things that you would normally ignored can develop into something worse. My bet is that is what is happening here. These guys are proper athletes, but I bet they have been beasted these last few weeks, so if there are signs that a bit of rest is in order, then I can imagine the backroom team will be right on it.
  14. Bang on average - 4! Wordle 772 4/6 ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  15. My home one is Margate which can be lovely on a nice morning, horrific if it's windy! It's out and back and undulating (but not hilly). How about you @Fan of Big Tone?
  16. Got my tickets. There ae only standing left.
  17. Tickets obtained...more time to fix the lawnmower now!
  18. No specific plans this weekend. I hope to do my local Parkrun, but the last couple of weeks have been marred by injury, so I'll see how I feel. Other than that it will be Dad's Taxi service most of the time... oh and trying to get tickets for the Sutton game (if they ever go on sale).
  19. Standard 4! Wordle 769 4/6 ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  20. She had a terrible childhood and younger years at the hands of her mother and then a childrens' home run by the Catholic Church. That really shaped her in her adult years. Her son killed himself about 18 months ago. I don't think se had much joy at any part of her life. The picture of the Pope was apparently her mother's so it is not clear whether she was making a statement against the church or her mother (but both would have been points well made given her experiences).
  21. When you have lived a life as difficult as hers, it is easy to imagine. It is awful, indeed.
  22. I felt like that yesterday.. I typed a semi random selection of letters and it was a word! One I have never heard of, but a wrong one. It gave me the route to the answer though, but as a random guess I just dismissed it when counting my attempts up!
  23. That was tricky until I heard the word on the radio! Fortune favours the procrastinator (later) Wordle 768 3/6 ???? ???????? ????????????????????
  24. Ph yeah... I erased the silly mistake from my memory! For an engineer I don't count very well!!
  25. Well done! Standard 4 for me today, Wordle 767 5/6 ???????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
