  1. Most cars aren't affected by ULEZ - it's been rather overblown for electoral purposes. If your car is pre - 2013 diesel or around 2010 petrol and you should be OK. You can check online though before you leave. I thought it was only £21 or £24 in the stands.
  2. They will be on general sale in a few days if there are any left.. fingers crossed!! Apparently we had 1100 and they are 'going rather well'.
  3. Ahh, a 4 1/2 hour each way journey rather precludes a season ticket for me. I'll have to keep an eye out and move quickly should any become available,
  4. Anybody know when tickets for the Sutton game go on sale? It's my second most local match after Gillingham, so it would be good to go if I can.
  5. Standard 4 for me. Wordle 766 4/6 ???? ???????? ???????????? ????????????????????
  6. Those are awesome cakes. My weekend was just catching up following travelling up to Lancaster for my daughter's graduation (and clearing her room!!).
  7. I've been away for a few days at my daughter's graduation. I have been doing the Wordles. I didn't get yesterday's, but my performance has been pretty much 3 or 4 all week! Wordle 765 4/6 ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  8. I've ended up in rows on a number of occasions where I have told people to cool it only to be told 'I paid my money, I can say what I want'. I don't buy that and say so. It usually ends up in a heated discussion!!
  9. Three is definitely highly skilful!! It should have been 2 though. Wordle 754 3/6 ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  10. This all shows a fundamental lack of understanding of pre-season friendlies. If they were there for us to win them all we would be playing the Dog and Duck 2 XI. They are there to learn lessons from and so the Stoke game was a success in my book. All this gnashing of teeth and wailing just shows a lack of intelligence and class. I think the youngsters will have learned from the experience. They will have learned that they need to be quicker, sharper and more accurate. They will now know that they need to work hard relentlessly and not lose concentration, even for a second. Unfortunately they will also have learned that there are a group of people in the crowd who are fickle, who don't think or have any filter and who are not supporters (in the widest sense of the word). Hopefully, some of the older heads will pass on their experience and help them deal with it (I don't imagine we are alone in having a load of drama queens sat n the stands). They come to watch a game of football, not to support the team...even if they have the tops, scarves etc. The Kop being quiet is fine by me - it's a friendly, a free hit at stronger opposition and with nothing to play for then it's hard to get up for it in the same way. I bet if we met in the cup it would be different in most ways (apart from the moaning minnies).
  11. Since I got 3 this morning, I'm going for 3 is very skilful indeed!! Wordle 753 3/6 ???????? ???????????????????? I may change my view depending on tomorrow's word!
  12. Nigel Jemson? Didn't he come over from there...or was it a bad dream?
  13. I think anything less than 3 is pure luck based on how your starting word goes. Once you get to 3 the skill of working out the word kicks in.
  14. Woo!! Wordle 752 2/6 ???????????? ????????????????????
  15. Oh I know that one - it's Broadstairs. Very uninspiring they are too! Oh you didn't mean those 39 Steps did you?
  16. In my line of work we say a near miss is a gift, as nobody got hurt and the environment wasn't damaged, but we can learn a lot to prevent a future event which could be far worse. I look at Pre Season Friendlies in the same way. They are an opportunity to learn and correct before points are on the line. In this way the score is irrelevant, it's the amount of information and lessons you can extract from the experience. I didn't go, so can't comment on the actual game, but I would have thought that Stoke and Forest were chosen as PSFs for precisely the reason that we would learn a lot. We need to be severely tested and exposed, to see who copes and where the gaps are. Stoke provided just that test (and hopefully Forest), and that has to be a positive. It's also a long time since the side has faced another team who had the upper hand, and to then have to work out what to do about it. The side now knows the standards they need to aim for, and what they can't get away with. I would imagine LW has a better idea of who will step up, who will find it harder and what to coach over the coming weeks. He will have been given a good examination of his tactics, and if he is the coach we think he is, he will look at those issues Stoke exposed and work on them and adapt the plan accordingly. It is unlikely we will get such an examination outside the cup games, (and even then, these days that's doubtful), so surely this needs to be welcomed? It's much better than facing a NLN / S side, having a walk in the park and learning nothing about the side or the tactics / system.
  17. That's my approach!!
  18. After needing a bit of help yesterday (hence no update as it doesn't really count) I did OK with todays puzzle: Wordle 748 3/6 ???? ???????????? ????????????????????
  19. I can see that. It could also be as gripping, but less likely to be as conclusive. I can't see those two finishing 24 odd points above 3rd place, so in many ways it may be even more gripping as other clubs will have more of an impact on the outcome. At the end of the day, between us and Wrexham the interest was around who would buckle under the pressure, and neither side did (I wouldn't say we buckled, it wasn't as if we collapsed at the end). We both just kept winning and winning. This time it could be gripping, but not in the same way.
  20. When I used to watch Wasps (before they folded) it was common for the club to have signed contracts way before the announcement, sometimes months. This was partly due to the way rugby contracts are negotiated, but the release of signings was normally carefully choreographed to supply a steady stream of good news, and to mitigate bad news. There was usually one late 'surprise' just before the start of the season. I think that was a bit more opportunistic based on who couldn't get a contract for the next season (or were still playing in Australia and NZ). The announcement of Ruben leaving and the following and preceding good news was very reminiscent of this, so I suspect that they knew Nemane was staying for a good while and they were timing the news to cover the close season / season ticket sales, Now we have the pre-season friendlies to get excited about, it would appear that bar possibly one more signing the transfer news is finished.
  21. A bit more like it! Wordle 745 3/6 ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  22. This is cracking news. He is such a threat going forwards and, as said above, improving defensively. It will be quite a battle for the RWB slot next year, which should be good news. I have a feeling that this has been sorted for a few weeks now, but the club are drip feeding the contract and transfer news out to create a steady flow of [mostly] good news throughout the off-season... or as they will be seeing it, the Season ticket buying season. This creates a steady stream of good news which can only help sales. I suspect we will hear of another one or two incomers in the next couple of weeks, then settle for the new season. One thing I am a little surprised is the lack of chatter around Maca. I would have thought there would be more.
  23. Had real problems with this one! Just managed it in the end though! Wordle 744 6/6 ???? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  24. Good going. Mine was a miserable 5! Wordle 741 5/6 ???? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
