  1. @DangerousSausage You can Also Add Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard To Your List. Because along with Rooney none have really set the Head Coach Positions they've had alight have they? Yes I know Gerrard Won the Scottish Premier League but in a Two Horse Race ( with Celtic) it's Not Very Difficult to Win when your Main Rival is Rebuilding and there's just you two with the Best Financial Backing.
  2. @Robbie I Honestly can say I can do without any type of (Un) Social Media Platforms in My Life, and Becoming a Mindless Zombie who needs People to Click a the Like Button on their Comment just to get a Rush. Apologies to you I wasn't saying that you're a Mindless Zombie, just people who Never come off X of Facebook Tik Tok or Whatever and only Live for other people to say nice things about them. if I Get Angry at a Remark or Comment I Stay Silent and Step away for a Few Days until I've Cooled Down, Despite the Fact I could Quite Likely Rip that Persons Argument to Pieces. It's Not Worth It. It's Best to Debate people when You are Cool Calm and in Control of your Feelings. There are things I consider Taboo, one of the Main Things Keep Politics Out Of Sport and Off This Website. You May Have Guessed That. Sorry I'm Rambling and Going off Topic. I'm in Full Agreement regarding the New England Head Coach Position, I've already made my Feelings Known. It doesn't Surprise Me Southgate is Getting all this Praise, but once the New Man is Appointed, Gareth Will Be Forgotten About He'll Be Old News. Because That's The Way The World Works, Always As Done Always Will Do.
  3. @menzinho Crawley and Stockport played similar to the way Notts Play, Ok has I'm only really interested in the Magpies I can't Agree or Disagree with your statement. However what Did those Two Teams do Different to Notts ? After all they got Promoted and Notts Didn't. Was it Because their Head Coaches were allowed to Mix things up or change Tactics to counter the threat from which ever Opposition they faced that week. There were a Couple of Excellent away Performances by Notts Winning 3-0 at Newport (who were on a Good Run at the time) and 3-1 at Bradford (I may of got the Results mixed up) anyway it was commented on PON and other Notts Fan Websites or You Tube channels, how well Notts played and how Stuart Maynard had Mixed things Up. However following those two Results Notts lost their next 2-3 matches by going back to the "Model" laid down by I assume Richard Montague, because I wouldn't have thought Stuart Maynard would have changed a Winning Formula, unless he was told to Play the Notts Way. I am in full agreement with you regarding the injury to Matt Palmer which had a massive effect on the team and system So you would have thought tactics would have been changed to combat Matt's absence. In My Opinion they weren't. Notts Defensive Woes were Never really sorted last season, things were Slowly Falling Apart before Luke Williams left and bringing in Stuart Maynard (who at the time was a Part Time Coach) was a decision which placed Enormous Pressure on the New Head Coaches shoulders what with him having to Prove he can do the Job Full Time and get Positive Results, which only came on a Few Occasions. And why were the Magpies Defensive Issues Only Tackled in the Current Off Season. When a couple of Short term Loans / Contracted Players may have helped out till the End of 2023-2024 Season.
  4. Isn't it Interesting? That You think you know Somebody then they come out with Something You Never Knew About them. Take My Wife (I wish someone would) Turns Out Ever Since she was a Little Girl She Wanted To Be A Ballerina. Well Sweetheart I said You've Always Been My Nut Cracker.
  5. I think they've got the Kyle Walker choice Right on the Button, He Did Have a Decent Tournament. At 34 though it will Probably Be His Last. So it's a High Note For Him To Go Out On. Just one thing I thought Erudite was a Glue. Oh Hold On that's Araldite.
  6. It will Impact the U.K Eventually, because it seems Once the US Adopts something the UK Mostly Follows Suite. However there are Certain things Thankfully the UK Dose Not Do that are Common in the U.S.A. The Right To Bear Arms is also Written in the American Constitution.
  7. A Scotsman running the England Team? Yeah Right. The Guy would never be able to return to his Native Land Again. No Foreign Coaches. A German or An Argentinian, could you Imagine the Headlines the Gutter Press would come Up with if the England side Run by either of the two Gentlemen named should the 3 Lions Fail to Win Every match considering the History of their two Countries have with England/Britain. Lee Carsley. No there's a World of Difference between Managing the England U 21 Side and the National Team, and working under Southgate, would that mean the Same Dreary Negative Boring Football England Fans would have to Put Up With No Thanks. Graham Potter. A Maybe but leaning towards a No. Not Enough Top Level Experience. Eddie Howe. Doesn't Matter if the F.A. have to Pay Newcastle Compensation. Get the Guy signed Up Now. He's a Battler a Manager who has a Proven Fighting Spirit can get the Best out of All his Players and Make them Believe in themselves and make them Play at a High Level Match after Match. This Guy Knows what it's like having to Produce a Winning Team on a Shoestring Budget. When The Going Gets Tough Eddie Howe Gets Going. One other Manager Tom Williams as Failed to Mention Sean Dyche. A Manager in the Howe Mould. That's What England Need Right Now A LEADER someone to Get the 3 Lions over the Line to Finally Win a Major Trophy. I Think either Howe or Dyche Could Do It.
  8. The Tippy Tappy Football came to the Fore during Luke Williams Tenure at the Lane and because it was successful in the NL it has been adopted as the Notts "Model". The Problem is this sort of Playing Style doesn't fit in League 2 Sure Notts went on a Run and at one time Even Topped the League. But once the Notts Tactics had been worked out by other Teams, look what Happened. If the Results since January had been reflected over the season, Notts would have been on 41 points and Back in the National League. I Would Hope that Stuart Maynard is given Free Range in Running the Team the way he wants to (without interference from any of the Higher Ups) and he is allowed to Change things around on the Pitch when it's Called For and he's Not Forced to Stick to the Model regardless. A couple of the Notts Players who have left the Lane stated they didn't like the way Football was played by Notts. And people have said that New signing Matt Platt may have problems Adopting to the Notts Style of Play. I Quote that from a piece written saying that Bradford have the Better Player ( at the moment) in Aden Baldwin because Matt can struggle with the Ball at his feet. But We Will See.
  9. But if You're Not Going To Give The Kids A Chance, I Ask Again What Is The Point Of Notts Having An Academy? Maynard isn't Going to flood the Notts Starting XI with Youngsters. If a Player isn't ready at 17 at What Age will he be Ready? The Head of the Academy must have an idea who His Rising Stars Are, surely he must speak to SM and say give this Kid a Run. Give the Lad ago and see how he performs. It will come clear very quickly if the Kid has got it in him, to progress further. James Sanderson should be an Ideal Candidate for a Run in the first team. An Experienced Player could take him under their wing, point out things such as Positioning, and other skills he'll be expected to Learn , the only way the Kid is going to Develop Is Under Match Conditions, Playing First Team Football at the Lane, and NOT Sent Out On Loan Repeatedly.
  10. @Robbie Spot on Sir, everything you've stated in your comment is correct. The Sam Cunningham Post listed above fails to Mention the Fact that despite Southgate's Record He's Won NOTHING.!! He also Failed to Mentioned the Fact Southgate Got England Relegated in the Nations Cup. It's Amazing how England are Celebrated for coming Second. I Guess that's the One Thing England and Britain is the Best In The World At Coming Second or Third. And what would have happened if England had Won the Euro's? I'll Tell You. The Main Stream Media would be Fawning Around Kissing Southgate's Arse, Praising Him to the Heavens, Putting Him and the Players on a High Pedestal, But Once They Lost a Game or Put in A Bad Performance against a side Lower than Them in the World Rankings. Out Would Come The Knives, and We'd be presented with Headlines Calling for Southgate to be Sacked, and certain Players Never being allowed to Pull On An England Shirt Again. You only have to Look at The Lionesses, when the Girls Won the Euro's everything was Great. Media and Fans were full of Praise, they have a Couple of Iffy Results And It's the End of Women's Football. That's the Problem with the Gutter Press Do Well and You're Up There, the Thing is then They Look For An Excuse to Knock You Down Again.
  11. Thanks @liampie, That's why I haven't heard of it in the 60's -70's my Wife hadn't seduced me into being a Notts Fan at that time. In fact I'd Never even met her. I was Young Free And Single.
  12. @KB1862 But Notts haven't had any Academy Players coming through, they may play the odd game or get to sit on the Bench but that's it. The Fee either Tiernan or Lucien if there was a Fee involved would have been very little, whereas if those players had spent time in the Notts first team and if either or Both had caught the eye of a Club higher up the Football Pyramid their Transfer fee would have been Much Higher, and a Grater Benefit to Notts. Therefore by not letting their Young Talent shine by playing them in the First team Notts will receive Little or No Cash when they Move On.
  13. @KB1862 Then there Doesn't Seem Any Point to Notts having an Academy then? If they don't have the Facilities or Capabilities other teams may have then closing down the Academy would save the Club Money. As it's been stated by @True Magpie there needs to be a Coach who is Brave enough and Willing enough to give the Youngsters a Chance. One Guy who would have fitted that Role would have been Jim O'Brien, he always seemed ready to Help the Younger Players (he was a Fan of Tiernan Brookes) when he was at the Lane, now that Expertise is at Sheffield United.
  14. I Don't Think Jurgen would want the England Job. I'm Pretty Certain He'll have a Year or So Sabbatical Then Go On and Manage the German National Side.
  15. The thing is @Robbie if things do Go Wrong on the Pitch then Stuart Maynard will be made the Scapegoat and Lose His Job, While Montague retains his and waits for the Next New Head Coach, then tells him what's expected of him and how the "Model" must be followed thus tying a New Head Coaches hands regarding trying out a New and Better Approach.
  16. @Robbie The Worrying thing is, the F.A does still have that massive influence over the England Head Coaches Job, from choosing who should lead the National Team and quite possibly the way the team is set up , it wouldn't Surprise me if Southgate was told to play a certain way, and him being the Good Chap he is, (alright a Yes Man) does as he's Told. Going back to another of my Topics the First England Manager Walter Winterbottom, was never allowed to Pick his own Team, that was left to a committee, could something like that still exist, even in this Day and Age? And something I've quoted before, from Brian Clough, the F.A. doesn't want me as England Manager because they're Frightened I'd take over and Run things Properly, and I would. Look at Big Sam's tenure as the England Manager was he starting to do things his way? And a worried F.A Set Up the Media Sting to get Rid Of Him? If you watch any of Big Sam's interviews he comes across as his Own Man and that sort of Attitude wouldn't sit Well with Those In Power. In all Honesty I think the Final decision of should he Stay or should he Go will be taken by Southgate himself I don't think the F.A will put any Pressure on him, because he's their Darling and he doesn't Rock the Boat, just follows their Instructions.
  17. That's it I know what you're thinking the Old Wheelbarrow Repairman has gone off his Rocker. Stuart Maynard Runs the the Notts First XI. But does he? Is he the only One who makes all the Decisions? Bear with me and I'll Explain. Going back a few months the Magpie Circle Pod Cast had both Notts C.E.O. Joe Palmer and Head of Recruitment Richard Montague on and it more or less went has many PON Members said it would, neither were asked any difficult questions, but thinking back there was something Richard Montague said that didn't really Register at the time, however thinking back, he said something which as got me thinking. That was During a Match he walks up and down getting worried about the Notts Performance if things aren't going right, yeah Ok but all us Fans get worried when things don't go the Magpies way True. But walking up and down worrying about things is something Stuart Maynard should do in his technical Area, isn't it? It shouldn't be a Problem for the Head of Recruitment unless of course he has something to do with the Team Selection and he must make sure the Notts Playing "Model" is followed to the letter. It is the Latter which got me thinking Stuart Maynard was hired because he played a similar style to that of a Luke Williams team, so was one of the conditions Stuart was hired, was it he would have to stick to the "Model" regardless ? And let us not forget Stuart was only a Part time Coach when he was hired, so was Richard Montague given the task of helping him make the switch from Part Time to Full Time Coach? And is Richard Montague still in that Role? Then again it's Probably Me Just Seeing Things That Aren't There. Then Again....
  18. How very True @liampie how very True. If an Academy Player is Good Enough to play elsewhere he should be good enough to play for Notts or at least given a Run in the Team to see how he performs. Sam Osborne is an excellent example who knows what he could have achieved if he had been given a Fair Crack of the Whip at the Lane?
  19. The Thing is @liampie The England Fans can see this, the Pundits can see this, So I Beg to Ask why can't Southgate and to a certain extent the F.A ?Who Must make their New Coach a Man who knows How To Play Under Pressure and get the Very Best out of his Players and make them Perform beyond their current Playing Level. Hence my pick(s) for the New England Coach Eddie Howe or Sean Dyche. I also agree with you regarding Harry Kane, he as been made a Scapegoat. He came into this Tournament carrying a Back Injury, it's No Good having a Player who is not 100% Fit. What Southgate should have done was play Kane in the first Group match then rested him, until the Knock out stages and see how he went from there, That way both Palmer and Watkins would have had their chance to show off their skills earlier and give Southgate Food for Thought. But No Southgate just sticks with an unfit Kane, So not did he only ruin England with his Poor Tactics but also put a Big Dent in Kane's reputation. Plus every Coach should know, You Never Get Much Joy from Playing a Single Striker Up Front.
  20. @Robbie and therein lies the Problem, Only 35% of Premier League players are English. So the F.A need to Put a Cap on Foreign players appearing in the Premier League, each English Club should only be allowed 3-5 Foreign Players in their Squad. That way young English Talent won't be strangled and kept out of their teams starting XI by some Mediocre Foreign player with astronomical wage demands, and English Premier League Clubs would be encouraged to Produce their Own Talent who would then be able to give the New England Coach a Bigger Choice of Players.
  21. Bloody Hell @Robbie. I've just sat down and wrote a Topic on Southgate's Future As Well. Talk About Great Minds Think A Like. There is a difference in our Topics under different titles so there isn't a Clash, just differing opinions on the same Subject.
  22. @Robbie I see your point regarding Notts may have a sell on clause in which they receive money should an Academy Player come good later on in his later career, But wouldn't it be Better for Notts to Benefit from his Skills for a few seasons then sell him on and include sell on clauses in that Transfer? Like they've Done with Macca (Hopefully).
  23. After the Huge Disappointment of an English Defeat in another Euro's Final, what does the Future hold for Gareth Southgate? His current contract runs until December this year, but I would hope he realises that His Time Is Up as the National Teams Head Coach. Of course Southgate is the Darling of the F.A. he always does as he's told, but Eight Years is Long Enough and two Runners Ups medals is Nothing, Nobody Remembers who came Second in a Tournament, and as the Old Saying Goes, You Get Nowt For Being Second. Who to Replace him with? Well as I have said before it has to be an Englishman as in my opinion No Foreign Coach is going to be able to Whip up the ENTHUSIAM to lead a a Country other than his own, No matter his Track Record. The two leading English Managers/ Head Coaches either Eddie Howe or Sean Dyche. Both have Managed in the Lower Leagues both know what it's like to fight a Relegation Battle and for a large part of their Careers have been at Clubs were their Transfers have been on a Shoe String Budget. Think what they might achieve with all the Talent England have at the Moment. But will Southgate continue to be as Stubborn and be determined to Hold and Hang onto his Present Position. If so Gareth I have just this to say to you,( and I'm Para phrasing here) As Oliver Cromwell said to the Rump Parliament, Leopold Amery to Neville Chamberlain and David Davis to Boris Johnson. In The Name Of God GO.
  24. With the Greatest of Respect @Robbie your Article appeared (to me anyway) that it was just about the Academies of the Premier League. Teams like Notts are way down the list of selling Players for vast amounts of money. Did Notts receive and any cash for Tiernan or Lucien? Probably not but if any money was exchanged then it would have been a Piddling Amount compared to the upper echelons of Premier League Clubs. Looking at the signings made by the Notts Recruitment team over the past few seasons, it seems a lot of New Players who come to the Lane are signed on a Free Transfer and only the occasional player is bought with money, I.E. Macca £50.000 and Jatta £125,000 (?) that the Fans Know of as most of the Notts Dealings are done under the Undisclosed Fee umbrella. Which of course is their right. Buying (at a low price) or getting a player on a Free Transfer makes Financial sense, But I believe that bringing on your own Players is more Rewarding than going out and signing players who may or may not fit into the Notts playing system, a System (you would hope) an Academy Player was all ready familiar with. James Sanderson at 17 is an Ideal graduate to be given a run in the First Team for a few matches to see how he develops, in Match Conditions under the watchful eye of a Senior Player. Will Stuart Maynard have the Courage to put him in the team? Would he be allowed too? More than likely Not and young James will be Loaned out continually and then Realised once his Contract is up. If Notts are going to keep on doing this, What Is The Point Of Notts Having An Academy?
  25. Notts Losing a Playoff Final With Out A Shadow Of A Doubt. I Remember the Feelings my whole Family and Self had when the Magpies got Beat by Harrogate in the Behind Doors Final during Covid. To this Day My Youngest Son still says if the Magpies had had the Fans Behind Them, that Day they would have Won and Gone Straight Back Into The EFL.
