  1. @Piethagoram Each to their own Opinion. You have your thoughts on the Subject I have mine.
  2. @Piethagoram In answer to your questions. Regarding remembering Derby taking part in the Anglo/ Scottish Cup, I remember the Rams playing a Scottish and Derby Keeper Colin Boulton was fouled rather badly by a Scottish Forward ( don't remember his name or team). Colin got up and laid him out with one Punch. My Mum was so shocked, she just said OOH he's just Hit Him. And if memory serves the only thing which happened to Boulton was he got a Talking too by the Ref, Not Even A Yellow Card. As to your second Question, Back in the 1970's I was a Young Innocent Lad who hadn't met his future Notts Supporting Wife and at the time I hadn't been seduced into following the Magpies????
  3. I know what you're thinking are Pep and Jose that Good? What are you some Kind of Idiot? Of course they are look at all the Titles and Trophies they've Won between them. This is of course True you only have to look at their Wiki pages and see how Good they are and I'm Not Denying that, but there's something that Bugs me about both of these Football Managers/Head Coaches and that is During their Careers, neither has really ever had to Struggle at any team they've Managed both have gone to Big Clubs where Money was available and having as Much Cash as you need to buy the Players you want, isn't in my Opinion the sign of a Good Manager/Head Coach. Pep Guardiola. The Three teams Pep has Managed/ Coached have Been Barcelona, ( only Real Madrid have offered any competition to them) Bayern Munich ( not much opposition) and Manchester City (Liverpool and to an extent maybe Arsenal, have stood in the way of City winning the Premier League). He's never been in charge of Poor Team, wherever he's been Money has been available for him to Purchase the Best Players by the owners. Like most Coaches he hasn't had to lie awake in his bed at night, wondering if his Top Scorer will be fit enough to play Saturday or if his loses, then his Job is on the Line. Never has he heard Guardiola Out Chants or You Don't Know What You're Doing. No Pep has had as had an Easy Coaching Life compared to most of his Peers. So what in my eyes and I'm sure of many other Non Manchester City Fans, would Make Pep into a True Coaching Great? Lets see him take over a team in EFL's League 2 and take them up through the Leagues and into the Premier League and Win a Major Trophy. Yes a side that would offer him a Challenge, A Club where they had to watch every single penny, were he would have to Coach and Man Manage his players to get the Best out of them. This is of course Pure Fantasy on my part Guardiola would never accept such a Challenge and So in My Opinion can never rank along side the Likes of Brian Clough Jimmy Sirrel Dave Basset or any other Managers, who have taken their Unfashionable Teams to the Heights of the the Old First Division or Premier League on player Budgets which are probably less than what the Tea Lady at City gets paid. The Same could very Much be said about Mouriniho, so I wont bother repeating myself. Just lets see Jose take an unfancied team from the Lower Leagues and make them into Premier League Champions or Trophy Winners. But It Will Never Happen.
  4. @Robbie Regarding your comments I was thinking along the same lines and at this moment, I am writing a Topic which includes some of your thoughts. Great Minds and all that.
  5. A Warm Welcome to the Lane Josh. However with him being mainly a Winger, this does Not bode well for Jodi's injury the Club seem mighty quiet about what's happened to Jodi. I would have thought if there wasn't much to worry about Jodi being out of the side for a lengthy period of time, there wouldn't be any need to sign a player in his position.
  6. Those are the thoughts of Former Manchester Untied and U.SA. Goal Keeper Tim Howard. In an Interview Howard has stated that he believes that Pep has Ruined Football by making all Teams believe that they can play, like his Manchester City side Possession Based High Pressing Brand of Football. The Trouble is a Vast Majority of Teams can't play that way. Guardiola has had immense success with his Expansive Style Of Football, however where he has the World Class Players to adapt to and carry out this style of Football poorer Teams haven't. So is this why we are seeing more and more Defensive mistakes and Teams giving away silly goals? Because they think they can play Pep ball, when they actually can't? The arrival of Luke Williams at the Lane saw Notts adapt the Possession High Pressing Brand Of Football, and like City the Magpies were successful playing this type of Football. And whereas Man City had Erling Haaland to score the Majority of their goals, Notts of course had Macca, who was ably supported by Cedwyn Scott. And despite the scoring goals like they were going out of Fashion, Notts also let in a high amount of Goals. Williams Mantra was OK the Opposition score 4 goals we'll score 5 and so it went on, and on a couple of Very Important occasions the matches against Boreham Wood in the National League Play Off Semi Final and again it the Play Off Final Notts almost came unstuck both times, falling behind in both games and only a Mammoth effort by the Players and William's Man Management skills finally Brought success back to Lane with Notts returning to the Football League. A Stroke of Luck or Genius by the Notts Recruitment team saw Macca arrive at the Lane, before Williams had been appointed, but would Notts have been has Successful without Macca's Goals? Maybe Not? So is that the way to Counter and Nullify Pep ball, by taking out his teams Top Scorer? After all City don't seem as Sharp in front of goal when Haaland isn't in the team, but City still win Games because they have players to fill the gap left by Haaland. Where as Teams with a Smaller Players Budget haven't, so out of necessity they have to change their style of play, if they Don't and stick to the same system they then seem to struggle. It would seem that last season Notts kept to the style Williams had so successfully adopted in the National League, and Despite the Thumping by Sutton on the opening day, the Possession type football bought Notts more success and they began winning games, however before Williams made the move to Swansea, the Cracks at Notts were beginning to show as teams had worked out how to Deal with the Magpies style of play and we all Know what Happened then. While still maintaining a Good amount of the style of Football Notts have had success with, new Head Coach Stuart Maynard now has a New Defensive Unit and he's managed to Mix things up and kept the opposition guessing. He may have to change things further, after the injuries to Jatta Scott and Jones have cut the Notts attack down to the Bone.
  7. I bumped into my next door but one neighbour Bill the other day, he's just come back after a moths Holiday in America. How was your Holiday Bill, I asked him? Marvelous the family and me we had a Great Time. That's nice I said. Mind you I did have a bit of an Embarrassing Moment. Oh? Yeah I got talking to this Irish American Guy and I asked So where you from? And he said My Mammy. Now I'm slightly deaf, and I thought he said Miami. Oh I said I've Been There.
  8. Not only have Crawley lost Players from their Promotion winning side, but Now their Head Coach as well.
  9. I Enjoy watching these old Matches. A time when Football wasn't just about Money and Greedy Agents hadn't got their sticky Fingers involved in the Game. I also liked the Notts kit, proper Black & White Stripes on the Shirts, which in certain parts in the video looked Dark Blue, when the Camera went for a Close Up.
  10. @Robbie I don't think there's anything which is going to Stop the Split of Football in this Country (Eventually). As you yourself have commented, there will one day be a European Super League and I Agree Whole Heartedly with you, it's only a Matter of Time. The Premier League's Big Six will Go their Own Way, and they will also take a Huge Majority of the Money with them, from both Sky and Major Sponsorship. So will the Premier League Bend Over Backwards in hope of Trying to keep the likes of Manchester City in the Premiership? By coming to some sort of Agreement with the League Champions? Such has a Small Points deduction and a Few Million Pound Fine and perhaps a Transfer Embargo? Because I think that the Premier League needs Manchester City more that Manchester City need the Premier League.
  11. No Not Me, I have Nothing but admiration for the Ex-Notts Manager. These are the words of Former Sunderland Goal Keeper Costel Pantilimon who played under Big Sam in 2015/2016. Despite Allardyce's tactics earning him praise and many admirers for his ability to pick up Results and then save the Black Cats from what appeared certain Relegation, his Romanian Keeper wasn't a Fan of what he called Big Sam's Strange Style Of Football. It wasn't the fact after 17 games that Allardyce replaced Pantilimon with Vito Mannone then Costel, No Sour Grapes? Apparently the Romanian wasn't a fan of being given a day off from Training either, which was something else he found Strange. The thing is there may have been Sunderland Fans who didn't like the way Big Sam set his team up or even his Style of play but if it Stopped Sunderland from Going down, when it seemed Relegation was almost a fore gone Conclusion it didn't matter what Tactics of Strange Style of Football Big Sam got his team to play. It was after his stint at Sunderland Sam Allardyce became the England Manager, but was forced to Resign after 67 days in Charge after the Daily Telegraph Sting, which was a Disgrace, because I think Big Sam would have been a Good National Side Manager. And after his fall out with Allardyce, Pantilimon moved to Watford where he made a Mere 9 appearances, so Costel maybe you weren't replaced at Sunderland because you hated Big Sam's Strange Style Of Football, more than likely it was because you were a Lousy Keeper.
  12. @Robbie The Super Agent bit were his words and Not Mine. I've never heard of him. I don't like Agents in my opinion they've ruined Football with their Greed, they're supposed to look after a Players interests ( which they do, most of the time) but you can bet they're mainly in it for themselves. I would also think should Manchester City be threatened with Relegation, they would appeal and that would make the Case Drag On Even Longer. Like I say City will only Get A Slap On The Wrist and told Not To Do It Again. There's No Way the Premier League are going to do anything significant to a Cash Cow Club like City.
  13. Tyson Fury wrote a book titled the Furious Method, which was Published in 2020.It is a Self Help Book full of Inspirational Advice For Readers on how to Improve both their Physical and Mental Health. According to Critics. The Book was a Commercial Success and is on the Sunday Times Best Sellers List. Not Bad For A Simpleton Eh?
  14. According to Super Agent Jon Smith (one of the Co-Creators of the Premier League) as said that the case of the115 charges against Manchester City needs to be Allowed as Much Time as is needed for Arguments to be heard and Legal and Financial Ramifications Understood. Any Decision is Going to be Difficult to Come to. Which comes Across to this writer that, if the Case Drags on and on People will lose interest in it and get Fed up hearing about it and the the Whole 115 charges will be Quietly Dropped and Swept under the Carpet. Or just to save Face City will probably get Deducted a Few Points and be Given a Hefty Fine, of a Couple of Million Pounds ( Which is Pea Nuts to their Present Owner) then Justice will Appear to have Been Done. They wont get Relegated Nor Will They have any of Their Titles Or Trophies Taken From Them. Because There Is One Rule For The Rich Premier League Clubs and Another for All Other Clubs. What Do You Reckon?
  15. We've been over this Time and Time Again Gentlemen/Ladies regarding the Notts Academy Players and their advancement into the Notts Senior Squad and then into the Starting XI. Does anyone Honestly believe that any of these players will get their Chance? I for one would like to think so, but over the Years Talented Young players just get Shipped Out on Loan to learn how to play Men's Football and then they're Never Heard from again, until the Contract is up and they're let go, or if they're Lucky Sold on for the elusive Undisclosed Fee. Kudos to Stuart for having the Belief in his Young players and having the Backbone, to play them during the Match, as it's been said they all must be on Cloud 9 today The Only thing to put a Dampner on things is, if he decides to repeat the Process and Notts get Thumped, then the Calls of does SM know what he's Doing playing all these young Kids? Why didn't play a Team who had a chance. Sure Most Members on Here couldn't be bothered about this Trophy saying it's a waste of time, and extra games Notts could do without but it's Great Opportunity for Stuart to Blood His Young Players, but a Big Defeat will start the Moaning Minnie's off Again. Personally I'll say Keep Doing What You're Doing Stuart.
  16. @Robbie I think the Money angle Goes Without Saying. I think he'll Get A Big Pay Day, Regardless of how he does. If he is successful, He'll just get more.
  17. @Chris So AJ throwing a Tantrum when Ursyk beat him and took his Belts off him, isn't a Sign of Disrespect? Tyson Fury is a Showman his Antics are to put Bums on Seats. Look at Ali and all the things he Got Up to over the years. He used to Rile his opponents up and their Fans. You're probably to young to remember Ali and George Foreman's Rumble in the Jungle. Go and watch Ali in his Build Up to that Fight (it's on You tube) he plays with George's mind. During the Fight it's self Ali got the Crowd Chanting Ali Ali Bom ba da (I know that's spelt wrong) But it Means Ali Ali KILL HIM. Fury is like Ali (not in the Boxing sense) but he winds people up, and they watch him fight in the Hope Somebody will Beat Him. Regarding him Ducking Fights, That's just the Media trying to Bring the Gypsy King Down. Because that's what the British Media Do if some British Star (No matter what sport) Brings home a World Championship, they first shower them with Praise, then go about with knives drawn and start Digging Up as much Dirt on any British World Champion they can find, then Go About Attempting to Destroy Their Reputation. Even if England had Won the Euro's, how long Do You Think It Would Be, before the Gutter Press would have Started going about trying to Devalue the Victory? Even if Harry Kane had Scored a Hat Trick in the Final, a couple of weeks to a Month all manner of Lies would have appeared in the Media about Harry. Why? Because Good News Doesn't Sell Newspapers, Magazines or Gets People to click on to their Online Stories. And as the saying goes keep telling People the same Lies over and over again and Eventually a Large amount of them, will End Up Believing them.
  18. It would be nice to think that eventually some of the Youngsters may go on to play for the Notts first Team. But if Notts are anything to go by, they'll all be Loaned Out Season after Season, after Season until their Contract is up and then been told their Free To Seek Opportunities Elsewhere, or Will Be Sold to another Club for an Undisclosed Fee.
  19. Despite Morecambe slow start to the season, they seem to have picked up in recent games, and Notts must show them Respect. However even without Jodi (who should be rested if he's still not fully fit) the Magpies should have enough Fire Power to secure all three points, and it will be disappointing if they don't. 3-1 Notts
  20. @thommo Tyson Fury Would Take Joshua's Head Off. If Fury can Destroy a Boxer like Deontay Wilder three times, Joshua hasn't got a Snowballs Chance in Hell against the Gypsy King, who if he hadn't mucked about and Listened to his Trainer's Advice instead of his Father's he'd have won the Usyk Fight. There's No Disgrace in Joshua Retiring Now, it's much better to Go Now, than trying to Recapture his Glory Days. That Ain't Gonna Happen. How many times over the Years have we seen Boxers carry on Fighting in hope of One Last Great Hoorah, only for them to End Up a Shuffling Mess and a Shadow of the Boxer, they once had Been?
  21. I Don't think there is much of a Chance of both Bass and Slocombe being injured at the same time @Robbie but then again Stranger things have happened in Football. I think Aiden as gone down the same Route as Junior Morias, wanting a Chance to play regular Football. And I think Notts have given him that opportunity with this Loan. Good Luck to the Guy, hope it works out for him at Boston.
  22. Mauricio Pochettino former Spurs and Chelsea Head Coach and a possible early front Runner to Replace Gareth Southgate as England Manager, has been appointed as the Head Coach of the United States National Side. It will be Interesting to see how he Coaches the side, if he will Adopt the European Style of Football or Pep ball the Expansive brand of Football or Go in a Completely Different Direction? The thing is does the American National Side have the required Skillful Players to play the European Way, or will Poch have to Mix things Up? Thoughts?
  23. A Great Win for the Magpies and Congratulations to the Five young Men from the Notts Academy. Well Done Lads.
  24. The 1-1 Draw with QPR is Macca's Best Performance in a Millwall Shirt according to their Head Coach. He even had an assist. Another Positive comment from the Lions Head Coach is He can tell that there are Goals ready to come from Macca, lets just hope the Lad can find the Back of the Net soon, and begin to do what he's Best At Scoring Goals.
  25. No Surprise really, he's 3rd choice at the Lane and has never really endeared himself to Notts Fans, many of whom have be Very Critical of his Match Performances.
