  1. ❤i love this! this is a brilliant insight and look into the story of @super_ram. its nice that he grew to like notts through marrying @GrannyPie, they both have been so kind to me. its nice to see some of the earlier points as super first got into football with his uncle stan, who sounds like a lovely guy. thank you for doing this super and @Chris. its brilliant and i hope fans who read this can also appreciate it.
  2. it was a superb effort, he had been looking like he would score all game and i am pleased that his effort struck the back of the net because it capped off a perfect performance by david mcgoldrick and notts in general. having a player who has an eye for goal like mcgoldrick does, will help hugely with scoring more goals from distance.
  3. notts did well but i thought alfteton was weak on the ball, they allowed us to get it quite easily. their defending seemed uninterested at times, very basic and almost just stick a foot out and hope it puts notts off. not very effective at all. all of macaulay langstaffs goals were good crosses but better teams wont allow that space so easily. i felt sorry for the alfreton town keeper because he was playing without any defensive protection most of the time. david mcgoldricks goal was pure class, nothing could have been done about that. overall a good result but disappointed with the way alfreton played.
  4. jim o'brien is also a great character to have around the dressing room, his experience and joking attitude can be uplifting, so with him and tobi is infectious with his laughter. the squad clearly take things seriously, but its good that they can laugh things off because ultimately this is what brings togetherness and boosts the morale.
  5. i am looking forward to the game, i have never been to alfreton towns ground and i think it should be another good friendly. i think looking at their squad, we should be able to create far more clear cut chances and will hopefully put them away. this time round, i would like to see langstaff and scott start, they have a good understanding of each other. we really should see more of it.
  6. josh clackstone is a good name to mention for this, i am sure there are plenty of others.
  7. technically, yes they parked the bus but they defended well. their keeper made some great saves to prevent notts from scoring more. attacking wise they were out of depth but defending is something i feel we do need to give them credit for.
  8. i think the game was more positive than some think, notts controlled the game and boston just defended most of the time. we cant always dominate teams and win 3 or 5-0. we are still in the pre season and the squads starting to settle, i thought the performance was quite decent. i praise the boston keeper for his efforts and it was good to see cedwyn scott get on the score sheet.
  9. i think notts did okay considering, boston made it difficult and i feel that was the point in the friendly. it was good to see a settled squad for the most part, by this i mean in terms of how we controlled the ball. it was good to see the younger players come on at a point where notts could afford them pretty much a good amount of time on the ball. Stone; Chicksen (Mahovo 76'), Cameron (Cisse 76'), Rawlinson (Brindley 76'), Adebayo-Rowling (Bajrami 55'); Palmer (Bostock 76'), O'Brien (McGregor 76'), Austin (McGoldrick 76'); Jones (Crowley 55'), Nemane (Munakandafa 76'); Scott (Langstaff 76')
  10. i watched a film called american carnage, its pretty much your modern twisted story. pretty messed up but enjoyable for the most part.
  11. its pre season, if we have players struggling or picking up slight concerns, then luke williams is doing right by pulling them. i am not over concerned about is because i have faith in the coaching team to make the correct decision. its just useful to know where each players at. its also good to know more about junior morias.
  12. i think boston will be a good test for notts, they are a decent enough team and yes we are two leagues higher, but i think they are the type of team we tended to struggle to break down and defeat.
  13. dan crowley is looking shaper by the minute, he really performed well against telford. i thought they did look quite difficult to break down at times, but notts persisted and the two goals were brilliantly taken. i am glad we are also not over pushing the players, but taking the right precautions to avoid any set backs.
  14. welcome to pon @BeestonPie. i hope you join in with us.
  15. out of the 23 teams in our league, i want to make at least 15 of the away games. sutton, bradford, afc wimbledon, mk dons, tranmere and salfrod are all on my list. i might look into some more the picks that @Simon Clark mentioned.
  16. its good to know, i think the home kit is nice. it was good to see it in person and the fact luke williams wanted to have the stripes back is a good thing. we have to value tradition and go forward with. its also good to read the managers thoughts on the players, he made a good call to switch to 442 as it brought the best out of the players.
  17. he looked comfortable and appeared to be a solid defender, young enough to improve and someone who may be happy to rotate/backup.
  18. it will be hard to hear someone connect with mark stallard in the way that charlie did, charlie and stall were great together but i do feel the commentator role needs to have someone who is always there, so i thought this would happen with us making our way back to the football league. charlie always did his best, i wish him well.
  19. its great to read up about him, i remember him working for the @Football in the Community and being involved with youngsters who had nothing to do. his career is a very interesting one.
  20. i think hes really coming into it now, its hard not to like him because of his personality is great. i hope he manages to keep fit and becomes a vital part of our team, as he did well against forest.
  21. it was a good game and the decision to start a stronger squad was the right call, it gave us a better grip of the game from the start but i still believe that stoke squad in the first half were playing in such a aggressive [in pressing} way to prove to their manager that they are good enough for the first team. we looked good, against a strong forest side and i am happy with the outcome.
  22. will this be where we might see more of junior morias? i think we can still afford to experiment for this game, treat the boston game as if we are going into the season. give the youngsters a chance to start from the beginning this time. see how they do and bring on players in the second of half to power up.
  23. aaron nemane did excellent, especially early on. he turned the forest players quite easily, but they caught on and pretty much tried to out muscle him. matt palmer and connell rawlinson were class. its kyle cameron who stood out as being quite poor at times but it was a challenging friendly. he did some good stuff defensively but made some clinical mistakes which he needs to cut out. aidan stone looked good, he was better protected. david mcgoldrick looks fit as a fiddle as does jim o brien. mcgoldrick did some very good stuff. very happy with the account our players put in.
  24. i hope we do sign a couple more, i think two should do it but if we are talking about having depth i am still unsure who will be keeping adam chicksen on his toes. he performs way better when he knows someone else can take his place. a centre back would be a welcomed addition, i agree with everything you wrote @TheSkipper. i think if notts can win the likes of wrexham, tranmere etc we could be in a title race. i will take it as it comes but i feel very optimistic.
  25. i do think forest will allow us to play more than stoke city did, i think a lot of their players wanted to prove a point to their manager. i can see forest passing it around and trying to get into space but without pressing to an intense level. it should be a good game for both teams, nottingham deserves to be known as a footballing city. if we can give a good account of ourselves, that is all i hope to see but if they win by a large margin just remember how much money they have spent of their team. we are leagues a part and really its just a fun friendly. if they beat us its to be expected, they may act all mighty but we are a league two team at the end of the day. us beating a premier league team even in a friendly is something positive and worth being proud about. it will probably end up being a draw.
