In my opinion The R & A have sold out to Sky Sports, from 2017 The Open Championship will no longer be shown live on free to air TV...

I personally cannot wait for the whole thing to go bang...

Excellent news, more time for a proper sport to be televised perhaps? :ahappy::rolleyes:

I can't say this is major, if people want to watch it they will find a way. I don't expect much of a public out cry, not like there would be if England football games wasn't shown on free-to-air television. You know back when they trialled the online subcription service? If you actually like and watch golf it's bad but people will still find a way in doing it.

I am one of those who loves/loved to watch The Ryder Cup, and The Open... but I damn well refuse to have Sky or Cable TV... I do not see why joe/joanne public has to suffer because of SKY
