  1. I wish the club would release the video of Martin Paterson’s post-match comments, rather than just writing their version of events.

There are some daft comments backing Paterson for being honest. I get it, but let’s be realistic - we were never going to be that competitive against a second division German side.

Cardiff will be a tough game, so losing here and having no momentum isn’t the worst thing.

We made a few chances. What’s with all the sudden criticism of Matt Palmer?

  2. The two features that have come back are great. I always head straight to the front page first, then check the dashboard to see what’s new.

I take a quick look at the forum index and dip into a few sections to make sure I haven’t missed anything. It’s become part of the routine now.

Seeing who’s viewing each topic is a brilliant touch. It’s a nice extra since the upgrade and could help keep people interested. They might stick around longer in case someone replies.

It’s a solid improvement all round. Nicely done!

  3. So it turns out the Bradford City talk was just gossip. I’m relieved it’s not Chesterfield or MK Dons, going to either of those might’ve taken the shine off his legend status with us. Some fans won’t be happy about Notts offering him a lower deal, but those savings could help strengthen the team elsewhere. At least with Barnsley he should be earning a decent wage and be content with that.

  4. I thought the second half team looked a bit livelier. I’m not sure if it was because of the heat or if Alfreton were just getting tired.

It was nice to see Sam Osborne working hard for them. I think he’ll do well in their team because they played pretty well overall.

Out of all the defenders, Lucas Ness had a harder time, but he still dealt with what Alfreton threw at him. It was good to see him play with our main two defenders, Matty Platt and Jacob Bedeau.

I heard some people criticising Alassana Jatta and Mai Traore. I thought Traore gave a bit more than Jatta. The first team didn’t create much, apart from a few crosses from Kellan Gordon.

There was some good footwork to make space, but Alfreton defended with a lot of players behind the ball.

The player who impressed me most was Maziar Kouhyar. He looked like the best one out there. I don’t know what others thought, but he stood out to me.

  5. It’s a bit surprising that Notts didn’t say anything about it on the official site. He was such a big part of our club’s history. Aston Villa shared a tribute, which was respectful, but most of his playing days were spent with us.

Rest in peace, Dick Edwards. He’ll be remembered by many who watched him play.

  6. I think it’s a sensible idea. It’s always good to have someone involved that the fans admire and respect. He could take on a similar position to what Les Bradd has done for the club. I also agree that Neil Warnock’s experience could be a real asset to whoever takes over as head coach. Even if we go with the Danish Under-21s manager, a bit of support wouldn’t go amiss. I reckon the Reedtz brothers have considered this too, especially after how things played out last season.

  7. I hope we don’t sell him just yet. I don’t think the club would accept anything other than a big offer, and selling him would mean finding a replacement. I think we might get a good fee for Alassana Jatta at some stage, but with Mai Traore, we’d be lucky to recoup half of what we spent on him. Jatta is too important a player to let go cheaply.

  8. I wish him well with you. I think he could become a very good player if he fitted in and settled at a club. There was a time when I wasn’t convinced by him, but towards the end of his loan spell, he played some of his best football for Notts.

  9. Notts announces it late because they don’t buy enough to meet the demand from our fans. They know it will sell out early, and people will want more.

This makes it easier for them to bring more in around Christmas or later. Expect the announcement near the final friendly.

  10. @DangerousSausage, It looks somewhat reimagined, as the badge I remember was a single design with no writing in yellow or gold. It was just a full badge that would easily peel off, like the home bitter and match winner logos.

This version is very close. It’s probably designed this way so people don’t try to pass them off as originals. Some take fake shirts and make slight changes, while others do nothing and still sell them.

Below is a genuine shirt I found for sale on eBay.

  11. It's impossible to know without inside knowledge, but I’m sure there are good reasons. The club might be waiting for a visa to be granted, though that hasn’t stopped them from announcing players who needed one before.

Whoever takes over must get the most out of this squad and win over a fairly divided fan base. The right appointment could bring promise, but the real test will be the early fixtures and how the head coach settles into the role.

  12. Availability is important in recruitment. I wouldn’t say this is a bad signing, but I understand why some have doubts.

He seems to be at the stage where this might be his last chance to make a real impact in the EFL. Being part of a strong setup and having the drive to test himself could help him reach his full potential.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up like Curtis Edwards before his return from injury.
