The performance by Notts early on was good, the players controlled the game but the headaches changed after Newport County changed their tactics. After that it was all downhill. What was a bright start was nothing more than a major disappointment. It almost seemed possible that a draw could have been picked up, the Dennis goal came from out of nowhere but the same old issue occurred at the back. The result wasn't acceptable.

Time to get on with things and focus in doing right by the performance on the pitch, the biggest issue has been players switching off and not tracking back to defend. Newport has to be different.

It's going to be a very slow start I feel but again an improvement since the opening game against Colchester United. The pressure may be mounting the players to get their first win soon, as will the expectations of gaining promotion. Defensively Notts wasn't very good but its hard to be discouraged from the outfield play. Once chances was created, Notts looked bright and entertaining.

I would take a point here myself. We need Yates, Grant and Hawkridge all on form and trying to drive play forward. Any news on Dan Jones yet? He would be a welcome addition to the back four and would give us some strengthening in that department.

Just get the job done Notts, I don't want to see a giant killing on home soil.

I barely noticed Hewitt's absence and I thought Milsom did a more complete job, did we miss Elliot at all? No. We have played some good football this season, at times we may have been lucky but yesterday was not one of them games. We deserved the points! Well done Notts.

Hewitt has been in and out all season. His absence is not worrying, we have plenty of capable players in midfield. I can see the game going various ways but I hope we have enough quality on the pitch to make it only one outcome. We need to grab the win!

It's got to be the strongest team that starts but we could allow a couple fringe players to safe legs for the league. The clash should be a good one.

If we can't beat Newport County at home I think I will accept it that Notts are destined to decline. I just want to see effort and a decent performance at the end of the day.

Notts needs to keep the ball on the ground or else these hiccups will continue to happen.

Nolan get it all wrong again but he got a reaction after the half time talk. The players are making it difficult all of a sudden, its like they don't believe in themselves all over again. Terrible defending from the off.

I just want to say it, WE ARE STILL TOP OF LEAGUE TWO. 3-0 win over Exeter? Fantastic!

Its about time we thrashed someone in this division, great all round performance by Notts. WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!

We need to be mindful of them due to the risk of injuries.

Do Crawley have any good strikers? If they don't I think it we will be fine.

If Stead didn't score the penalty it would have been a draw. I felt Notts defended very well but lacked any spark up front, Forte tried but we desperately need another striker. Good team performance but I hope for a more polished performance all round.

It sounds like Swindon fans are unhappy with whom they have in charge. How long until he's sacked?

I can see it ending a draw but we have to keep the run going for as long as we can. Fortress Meadow Lane!

Fantastic player! I have many brilliant memories of seeing Brian Stubbs play for Notts.

Very uninspiring performance but the players kept at it and got the win. Port Vale don't look like much of a side in league two but I just hope nobody gets carried away. If we win a few or lose one, people just get all OTT.

The club started signings to please the moaners on Twitter who kept asking if there was any signings, if you asked me it seems the club rushed and struggled to recruit players in. Kevin Nolan has signed some decent players, he just needs to have faith in them and give opportunities. Jonathan Forte is a good player, he will come good as will Jon Stead. He just needs more time!
