  1. I can't see us changing from the possession based approach and hoofing it out / away. We defend by keeping the ball. I do wonder if we can make things easier for ourselves though - could a sweeper like approach work? Have someone quick who can tackle and pass, say Chicksen, playing just behind the back 3 with Jones and Nemane as wingbacks and Bostock being the pivot with help form Crowley and McGoldrick and Macca up top. The difficulty is who in the back 3 could also support Bostock and still work as a CB - Cameron maybe? JoB? Doing that may make for a few more moments to make decisions. It may also concentrate the pressure on one player though as a lot would go through the sweeper and Bostock - mark them out of the game and it all goes belly up, so I can't see us doing that either! (It was fun musing though).
  2. I am a bit concerned about this one. I could see us coming unstuck if we don't apply ourselves. This is the first stickyish patch we have had in a number of years, so it will be interesting to see how we set up and manage the game. All things being equal we should win, but the additional pressure and expectation may just have a detrimental effect. I think it will end up pretty close, but I would love to see us go in with a big halftime lead and then come out and close the game out in the second. That would, hopefully exorcise a few demons which seem to be appearing.
  3. Back to normal today. Wordle 892 4/6* ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  4. @Fan of Big Tone I had heard they changed the course at Long Eaton (a long while back). I was running with my nephew who was about 18 at the time (he is 25 now). He had bet me he could beat me over 5km... I helped him through the mud and waited for him, walked with him and cajoled him along for 4.8km... then he sprinted off and beat me! I have never done the fully tarmac course, so I'll have to head back and give it a go.
  5. @Fan of Big Tone I did one of the very early Long Eaton parkruns. It used to go through a nature area (?) which was flooded at the time. It was a mucky affair! Beeston was a nice course, but i can imagine it being muddy at times.
  6. I don't think that the club and board are saying anything other than we are aiming promotion at some point. It's the fans that seem to think that means this season, but I haven't seen the club say that anywhere.
  7. I don't think that a goalkeeper is a priority - ours get exposed more than most due to the way we play. I think even Alisson or Ederson would look average given the number of times they would be exposed... that isn't a pop at our defenders as we defend as a team (and the mistakes were made by the midfield last weekend). It's the way we play and the risk we take.
  8. The standing charge is so unfair. It allows companies to bake in and hide price increases. Why nobody has looked at this yet is beyond me.... well it's not - these companies support a lot of MPs.
  9. Good going @Chris. You have a great goal and I am glad that you are seeing the weight come off, that is a great motivation. @Fan of Big Tone which Parkrun do you do? I've done a few around Nottingham and Long Eaton, but next time I am up I will try and get to yours and say hello (I can almost guarantee I will be in either an MNDA or Leeds Hospital Rob Burrow top). Maybe we should do a PoN parkrun meet up (you can walk them too - there's no pressure to run at all)?
  10. Well... Wordle 891 6/6* ???????? ???????? ???????? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  11. I really struggle with Wrexham and their owners. Why do they have to be so nice? We had a great chat with a load of their fans as we walked back to the car after the game at Meadow Lane and they were really good, grounded people. I think that they have 2 types of fan; the new fans who are there for the glory and are more obnoxious, and the old fans, who like us are so happy to be back in the EFL and are really very pleasant. Their owners also seem to be good types too and not like your typical rich owner. I may have to lift my ban on Deadpool!
  12. Have a great time @Fan of Big Tone. Make sure you take precautions against home made monsters. One of the girls from my old school runs / ran a café in Whitby. I'm not sure what has happened to it since Covid though. My plans have changed. I was going to the match, then my partners mum reminded her that she had tickets for Canterbury panto which she had booked this time last year (she already has tickets for next year!). We had forgotten, so I had to send my tickets back to Wimbledon. So, my weekend is panto tomorrow then a long run along the coast here in Thanet on Sunday.
  13. I gather they are really well funded, so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do a Luton or Bournemouth and reach the Prem in a few years.
  14. 4 again.. I think I put more effort in on guess 4! Wordle 888 4/6* ???? ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  15. I really have no issue with Burchnall leaving, in the same way I wouldn't have been upset if Williams had gone to Oxford. We are where we are, and one of our main attractions is that we provide managers a sound platform to showcase their skills. If they then move on, it is good for us as it raises our profile and allows us to attract more tested candidates. I have no doubt that whoever we brought in would be at least equivalent to Williams, and it could be argued that maybe we had William's application because of what Burchnall was allowed to do here. Don't get me wrong, I don't want Williams to leave and he is definitely an upgrade on Burchnall... but when he leaves I will be wishing him the best and hope he doesn't get the flack that I feel Burchnall unfairly gets.
  16. Yes, but Sovereignty (whatever that means)
  17. Doh.. how could I forget Jodi!!! Randall out Jodi in!!
  18. Ah.. thanks @liampie. That sounds like before my time, but a really great idea and nice to see it (back).
  19. I don't know where that guess came from. I thought I would miss my usual 4, but then inspiration struck. Wordle 887 4/6* ???? ???? ???? ???????????????????? You have higher standards than me... I would have considered that a success!!
  20. I think that @Piethagoram would be a worthy Member of the Month. They are always posting interesting things. My nomination for Team Members are @Fan of Big Tone, @super_ram @liampie and @allardyces tash. I'm not sure what this is about, but it sounds a nice idea and a bit of fun!
  21. I think I would go with this too, but I would put JOB in with Bostock to give us 11 players ????. I would look to bring on Gosling maybe a bit earlier if we are on top to get him up to speed. Initially I thought instead of JoB, but I wonder if it would be better to replace Bostock (all other things being equal) to give him a rest / keep the engine of JoB in case Gosling is still a bit off the pace. I wonder if Cameron will be replaced by Rawlinson too, I heard he had a niggle last weekend which is why he came off. Edited as I have just seen Baldwin and TAR are out suspended so Back 3 of Brindley, Cameron or Macari, Rawlinson with Tipton and Macari (if Cameron is fit) on the bench in case Brindley breaks down. So for me: Slocombe Brindley, Rawlinson, Cameron (Macari) Nemane, JoB Bostock, Randall Crowley McGoldrick Langstaff
  22. Another 4! Wordle 886 4/6* ???????? ???????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  23. I'm really not very good at this.. 3 (but with help) Wordle 885 3/6* ???????? ???????????? ????????????????????
  24. Monday morning 4! Wordle 884 4/6* ???? ???????????? ???????????????? ????????????????????
  25. Luckily it is 'bels and braces' so the prognosis is really quite good... it's just really tough on her. She is hoping to get to the Wimbledon game though. For someone who doesn't like football she has been to Sutton, Gillingham and the FGR match already this season.
