Match highlights: Doncaster Rovers 3-1 Notts County, Tuesday 14 March 2017

Joe Jones

Notts County fell to an unfortunate and controversial 3-1 defeat at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.

The visitors took the lead through Richard Duffy, but strikes from James Coppinger and John Marquis either side of the break put Donny in the lead.

Notts thought they had equalised when Haydn Hollis headed home in the second half, but the flag went up to rule the goal out, much to the bemusement of the travelling contingent.

Andy Williams then sealed the win by adding a third for the hosts in stoppage time as Notts sent goalkeeper Adam Collin forward.

The official Notts page on YouTube has posted the highlights - judge for yourself whether Hollis's disallowed header should have counted or not.

The defender (in front of the Doncaster keeper) is holding Hewitt but then the keeper runs from behind the doncaster defender and seems to be claiming he was impeded?

Terrible decision by the officials.

Yep, I see it now. If you pause the video at 1.33 you can clearly see the keeper's arms around Hewitt's neck.

It's not Hewitt, it's his own defender DS.

Elliot Hewitt leans forward whilst the defender behind him has his hands around his stomach/middle area, the keeper holds the defender. It's a crafty trick but I can see why poor officials could be fooled, this doesn't make it right but more blame should be placed on Doncaster's keeper and defender.

OK, I see that now. The first time I paused it and it does look like he's holding Hewitt, but it's very blurry.

Well, if I had to watch it several times in slow-motion to work it out then I can see how the ref might have missed it. There's no guarantee we'd have got anything out of the game even if it had stood. It's a pity, but it's all about the next match now.
