Africa Cup Of Nations / African Nations Championship

Unbeknownst to many people, there's a competition starting this week called the African Nations Championship. Played once every two years, it's a tournament for national teams, but with one twist: players MUST be currently playing in a league in Africa.

Every alternating year, it's the Africa Cup of Nations, which is the all-out, anyone can play, clubs-falling-out-with-players-and-national-federations festival of African football.

Anyone looking to follow the games this year, has followed a ACN or CHAN tournament, or anything like that?

What do you mean? The BBC have pushed this competition quite successfully and I think the majority of the UK are now aware of this.

I didn't watch last year, I was to busy doing things on here and other things but I might watch this. I actually thought I had missed it! Sadly the teams I hope will do well are often failures! Plus I don't get why Egypt enter this and try to get into the Euro's... You're either in one or the other in my opinion, I don't care if they're half in or not - I bet they don't choose players based on being born in the 'Europe' part.

Just seem an iffy way for them to progress a little.

I'd like an unknown/lower African side to do well!
